Kolkata international airport departure
Dec 09, 2024 08:13 PM61 Views (via Mobile)

Very bad experience in kolkata international airport departure. One restaurant name"BIRIYANI BHAI". Very rude and racist behaviour towards customer. He denied food to us. Owner should look after such racist staff.

Check in area and security checkin

I happened to travel from Kolkata to Hyderabad on 23rd Mar-2024. I find that this is totally unorganised airport. Either at the check in or at the security check in. It looks that there is no adequate team for handling the peak hours rush. We had to stand in a long Que, at all points. There is not even small trolleys after security check in for handling the hand bags particularly for sr citizens. Very pathetic condition.

So Big, Clean,
Jan 16, 2018 09:22 AM1376 Views (via Android App)

I went there Kolkata Airport at night the time was around 21: 00.

First of all I want to say the Airport was so big. A huge number of National and International airoplanes are departing and arriving.

After that we went inside and I have seen inside the Airport there is everything up to date, I mean sign boards are good, roof was clean, air conditioners were awsome and it was a big structure.

Also there are demerits for the airport, inside the airport the cost of One Coffee was rs 70 everyting inside was so costly. Non-affordable like, yes rich peoples can afford.

Also one more demerit I saw there was outsid the airport there was a lot of crowd, lot of cars. Eventually I don't like that I like feeling free.

So, it was my experience about kolkata airport, hope you like it. If you want to get more reviews you can follow me, stay happy my lovely friends.

Very much neat and clean and also convenient. But some services are horrible like wifi connectivity. The wifi signal is good but there is no internet connection ever. Even the google page cannot be opened. Secondly The helpdesk charges Rs.100 for a single page of the printout of a ticket. Thirdly the rates of the products in the shopes situated into the airport. They are 3 to 4 times higher than an open market rates These are like punishment without any guilt.

My review about kolkata airpprt...
Jan 09, 2018 07:48 AM1305 Views (via Android App)

I think kolkata is very important city of india. So the country governmet is only rensponcible for become a worst airport. For thr counnecting issue and transportation and not much cleane and lokking attractive like other airport.and all the most of the staff is very rude and I don't like there heavier as well. I think government should handover this airpprt to a private company because they are more responsible and can do a better for all the passenger.

And also we cont get all kind facialitys at this airport like any other international airport.

And I think for that resane most of the international airlines is denied to land rhere flight.

Security and immigration officer as usual bad behaviour.

And yes they need to improve more the transportation facility.

Thank You.

Netaji shubhash Chandra international airport is the best airport among the north eastern airports. The systems of organisation and management is very efficient . Great architectural designs. Clean and hygienic atmosphere. Hospitality of the management group was perfect. I would love to travel again from netaji Subhash Chandra international airport.

WORST AIRPORT AMONG ALL D METROS
Jul 28, 2011 11:26 AM4049 Views

I would like to share my views on the kolkata airport. the kolkata airport was one of the best airport in india but now I will say it is one of the worst airport in india. In the other places privatization has taken places. all the private builders are taking their own responsibility for constructing and they have constructed a very good airport in bangalore , delhi and hyderabad but kolkata is still lagging. The government is trying to expand the airport with good facilities but I guess it will take more dan 10 years for them to construct a new airport in kolkata. The flights are day by day increasing, more people are using the airport. but the facilities inside the airport are still outdated. If there is some privatization in kolkata. The airport can become one of the best airport in india.

Thank You.

Open letter to The Airport Authorities!

Kolkata Airport is a gateway to a lot of places in India, from this logic, it is supposed to look nice and adequately convenient for the travelers. To get to 7 sister states, I have no choices but to make a transit here.

As of now, there are 5 airlines connecting Bangkok with Kolkata; Air India, Jet airways, Kingfisher, Drug air and THAI. All passengers to Port Blair, Chittagong really have to make a stop here as there's no more direct flight from Bangkok.

Let's start with the international terminal first. I am aware that it is a renovation at this airport, I saw a lot of things are being built. My comment begins with the cleanliness of the airport. At the baggage claim area, it doesn't seem that it is taken of well enough, there are a lot of trash in the ramp.

The good thing is the pre-paid taxi counter, so people do not have to face the hassle dealing with the Taxi. Next, it is quite unnecessary to check people at the entrance gate if they have ticket or not. it is horrible that relatives, friends cannot go in the terminal if they send someone off.

The check-in counter starts late, the immigration is too small so too many people have to wait, not enough places to sit, stand.  If the airport authorities has no money, please please collect more fees to hire more immigration staffs, the number of passengers will get bigger, and as I said earlier that we have no choices but to make a transit here, so please do not blind and deaf!

Your airport manager office is not computerized, what's a pity!

At Delhi for example, there are lot of international fast food stalls where they have to pay for the space, if you will have space, please make money of it. We, the passengers, sometimes just want to get out of your airport as quick as possible.

Some nice coffee shop is available with quite a cheap price, that is a good thing that I am sure it is not run the airport authority. The Government of India should really have to link the subway to here.

At the domestic terminal, the retiring room(700 Rupee per room) for connecting flight passengers are bad. there are birds flying inside the terminal. Floor is not clean and I do not see any currency exchange counter.

Some domestic airport in remote place in Assam like dibrugarth is a lot cleaner that Kolkata airport. PS, please also make a nicer walking way with a roof from international terminal to Domestic terminal, It rains quite a lot in this city for some period of time, I am sure!

I know that the new terminal( Claimed to be Environmentally friendly building) will be able to handle 20 millions people a year but you should start to take better care of the current passengers now! It is real big pain for limited staffs to stamp people's passports going to Yangon, London, Dubai, Dhaka and Bangkok at "the rush hour".

Needs a huge improvement ..!

I have traveled through Kolkata's Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport for at least for 8-10 tomes in the las 3 years. I mostly used the international terminal, and only 3-4 times the domestic.

I must say that the international terminal need a great face lift. It looks very old and gloomy. Toilets are not that clean and nice looking. There is no good cafe or restaurant in the lounge, too.

But, on the other side, the immigration officers are very efficient and polite. Once I reached Kolkata in a British Airways flight and found that there are some counters'for Indian nationals'! It was very nice for me, because the flight was full of Europeans and they had to stand in long queues! I must mention about the check in baggage guys. they are really helpful and know how to do their job. I liked their offer to help me take my luggage on the trolley when I arrived after a long flight. I do it without any extra money or other gain! Really amazing.

The scenario in the domestic terminal is a bit different. It looks brighter and bigger than its counterpart. But, there is a hell lot of passengers. every time. Its always crowed. Sometimes, you may have to wait a while even to get a trolley! But, comparatively I like the domestic terminal better than the international.

I hope the govt will seriously plan for the improvements of Kolkata Airport. I heard that the CM of West Bengal is working on a plan to get a new airport in Kolkata. I will be nice for the city, I must say.:)

Oh Calcutta !

CCU- DOMESTIC

CCU a.k.a Netaji Subhash Chandra Airport ( earlier known as Dum Dum) is pretty neat and compact in normal times, but it really groans under the peak time weight. Just two security counters lead to serpentine queues and since there is no space for such long queues they end up entangled in each other

The lobby at the departure gates at the first floor (3,4, and 5) is pretty huge, but there isn't a single coffee vendor in sight.

At the check in counters there isn't enough space for Air Deccan since the big liners have monopolised all the counters.

The taxi service is excellent and there is no hidden ''airport premium'' on the rates ( In fact it is cheaper than getting TO the airport from the same point in town! )

The location is the killer. Not less than one hour from any major point in the city. The airport has no bus service either from important points.

The crew is pretty helpful though.

Leaves a lot to be desired

This review might seriously offend my ''Kolkata'' based friends.

I landed up in Kolkata early in the morning.

It was a period of SARS scare.

So we went through this ''medical examination'' where we were asked

if we had cold /fever/ cough.

We said NO WAY. They let us go.

(They were possibly relieved and hoping that we say no)

The signboard indicating ''Indian'' and ''Foreigners'' at the immigration bore a grim look.

The one good thing was that the Kolkata police officers were very efficient at the immigration.

The journey from immigration to the gate was fairly painless except for the fact that

you ran into cows and bulls once you are out.

The departure lounge is slightly better.

One thing which baffled me at the immigration (this holds for all international airports in India) as to why they have an emigration form.

I mean why do they care so much about people who leave the country.

Coming back to the lounge, the toilet facilities and the lounge after the security check is in a big mess.

I think it is only fair when international passengers ask for a nicer lounge when they are shelling out tons of money in taxes.

Even the domestic airport in Kolkata is better than the international.

The AAI needs to pull up their socks and renovate the place in addition to providing clean drinking water.
