The Kodak EC 300
---------------------
The EC 300 is one of the basic models available in the market today. It costs only around Rs 1000. and is a very good 35 mm camera for the average family.
What is so special about the EC 300? Well.. nothing. It is a basic camera package that comes with some of the basic features like
Auto forward
Auto reverse
Auto power shut off
Automatic red eye reduction
Large and bright viewfinder
And focus free lens.
Now what?s special in that? Nothing. But what makes this camera very special is that it gives an extra- ordinary performance for all the features that it has. At least, my camera does that.
The clarity of the pictures is amazing and that too from a camera coming for only just a 1000 rupees, the picture quality of some of the pictures I took were as good as the ones which some of my friends took on their expensive Nikons and cybershots. But, my camera didn?t have zoom, for that matter, but they didn?t know how to use their?s very well. Somehow, some of them always manage to get the zoom in the wrong place at the wrong time.
This camera is very useful for people who want a good basic camera for taking family pictures on special occasion. The quality of the flash is excellent ( believe me, I tried it out myself on my trip to veega land, cochin, kerala.) and there should not be any problem with dim light shots.
Taking my case, I am just a student of one of the colleges in trivandrum, and here, unlike in some of the other places, students are not allowed to do part time jobs ( society thinks that way ). So I needed a camera, a good one, without producing a big h ole in my pocket, and though I ended up selecting the EC 300 without much of a choice, I have been lucky in that it hasn?t let me down.
The automatic red eye reduction is also of good quality. As I mentioned earlier, I had my college trip, which started at 05:00 hours in the morning. So the initial pictures we took were in complete darkness. Most of the guys ended up with pictures with rred eyes and cat eyes. Everyone was really surprised to see that my pictures were o.k.? Got to say, I was also very much surprised.
The view finder is very wide, and this may pose a few problems at first as the focus of the camera is very near to it, as compared to some of the other previous models from Kodak. But this is great for taking pictures of functions, I mean group pictures.
Not to mention that it is very convenient to use. Just point and shoot? You don?t have to be a professional to get good pictures from this machine. Moreover the quality of films can be improved very much by using good quality films like the Kodak max.
Overall, it is a nice camera for the average family. But trust me, please don?t buy it if have the mind for professional photography or wild life photography ( kidding.. only reminding that there is no zoom facility).
