Kingfisher Airlines Reviews

Kingfisher soaring in the Indian skies.
Jan 28, 2007 11:25 AM 2796 Views

I often wondered what the fuss was all about - What's so great about Kingfisher airlines? I got various responses – somebody said they have hot airhostesses, someone else said they have great in-flight entertainment while some others just said that it was an experience I should have but couldn’t say why.I was under the impression that Kingfisher had made It’s foray into Indian skies to compete with the low-cost airlines brigade that has taken India by storm. I was mistaken. Never once have they claimed to be low-cost. And they’re proud of it.

SO, I decided to bite the bullet and booked myself on a kingfisher flight from Bangalore to Mumbai. From the way your baggage is handled, the check-in process right down to Dr Mallya’s welcome speech on board – everything was done – King Size. The air-hostesses are pretty without being too in your face. They’re courteous and pleasant. The captain speaks English that can be understood by all and the channel music is not elevator music that gets on the one nerve you have left after a harrowing day.

The food was perfect for the time of flight and the flight entertainment system was good. I would have preferred it if they had more short serials rather than movies which you never end up seeing the end of as the plane lands ahead of time.I got down in Mumbai, happy that I had arrived and frankly Kingfisher had arrived and was there to stay.I was so impressed by this flight that I recently booked another flight with them.Since it was the long Independence Day weekend, we decided to go away on a mini break. The original plan was to go to Hampi but since there were no hotel rooms available, my boyfriend decided to go someplace else. Now I was quite happy that the idea was cancelled.

We live in a gorgeous apartment complex which has a pool, gym, squash court (the works) and I was looking forward to just spending a long lazy weekend at home or by the pool. But No! He wanted to travel! So, without asking me, he booked us on a trip to Vishakapatnam. Vishaka – who?? Exactly. It is a godforsaken place where no one in their right mind goes – especially for a vacation. It is an industrial town and has NOTHING to offer by means of tourism. But it has a good hotel so he booked us there! I was given this surprise a couple days before we left. Now…to explain to you just how far out this place is…. We had to take a 2 hour flight to Chennai and then take a connecting flight of 3 hours to get to Vishakapatnam.

The flight to Chennai was at 06:00 hours(!!!) so we woke up at 4:30am! Took the Kingfisher flight to Chennai and when we landed I thought we would just take a connecting flight immediately… but I was then told by my boyfriend that the connecting flight was at 11 am!! We had a 3 hour wait at Chennai airport! I gritted my teeth but smiled through this…we then decided to sit at the airport lounge and wait out the 3 hours. When we were entering the lounge, the waitress saw our boarding passes and said” Oh! Are they taking off then?” My ears shot up and I asked her what she meant….and she said that no flights had either taken off or landed in Vishakapatnam since the past week because of bad weather!

We ran to the check-in counter and were told that this indeed was true! Now I was boiling mad. I told the Kingfisher airline staff that if they knew the situation, they should never have let us board the plane from Bangalore! They assured us that the plane would take off and that they would come and get us. True to their word…at 10:45, they announced boarding. We boarded and just when the plane was on the runway…ready to take off…we were asked to de-plane! Apparently the weather had taken a bad turn and they wouldn’t take off after all.

So imagine, we had to get off and go back to the lounge and wait another 5 hours as the next plane home was 5 hours later! But I must grudgingly admit that even though it was wrong of Kingfisher to have allowed us to board the plane in Bangalore as they knew we were booked through to Vishakapatnam, they quickly rectified it. They were beyond courteous, they re-imbursed all the money (Bangalore- Chennai- Vizag-Chennai – Bangalore) for both of us and they made sure the Taj (where we had booked a room) didn’t charge us a cancellation fee. They also made us very comfortable in the lounge and looked after us like royalty.I must say kudos to the King of the skies!

King in air

It is the most luxurious, comfortable, lavish flight journey. It gives one of the best services in the airline industry. The attendants are polite, courteous and quick in service which really makes the customer get down from the flight with a smile on his face. The amenities are awesome. And the most important even after a long journey between two cities you hardly feel any kind of tiredness or worn out. infact it makes you feel refreshing, rejuvenating so that you can go straight to work.

Also it keeps in mind the kind of facilities every kind of customer requires. it really feels an experience of a king fishing in  his own pond i.e very relaxing, mind freshning, peaceful and not to forget best flight experience. The only thing is at times the flights are delayed which affects the customer in long run. At times the reasons are genuine and at times there are no reasons given. The time management should be taken and the customer should be made aware of the problems if they want to know.

Happy Flying....
Jan 18, 2007 03:36 PM 1808 Views

I have experienced almost every Indian airliners. The best of my flying has been with Kingfisher. My journeys have never been delayed. The ambience is royal.  I have been flying mainly on Delhi route.

In the same cost compared to other airlines, you get:

  1. Better attention - at counters, or on board

  2. Better Meal - meal is better as compared to other air liners

  3. More Comfort - I dont know about seat dimensions, but atleast I felt more comfortable

  4. More entertainment(you get audio video entertainment, which on the same fare is not provided by any other airlines) - This one is definitely a big plus

  5. Better reception

  6. Pleasing staff

Neither I am an employee of Kingfisher nor I have any ties with them. I like to share my experience, so that others benefit from it. It is important that every one gets something for each penny he/she spends.

Wish you all happy flying.

The best domestic airline I have ever travelled.
Jan 18, 2007 11:09 AM 1799 Views

As the name itself suggests, it's really an experience where you feel like a KING even after you come back to your home from the flight. The crew members are very polite, patient, decent, well spoken, elegant appearance, well mannerd and last but not least VERY BEAUTIFUL and that's why I have given the Flight Attendants a 5 star rating. Lot of people say that when Beauty comes it draws Arrogance with it, but I would totally dis-agree with this statement just because of Kingfisher.

Because, I feel Kingfisher is having the most Gorgeous looking faces as their Air Hostesses & still they are very respectful which is very rare to find. The airline is very much passenger caring compaired to all other airlines, they provide the exact information on every query, food provided is also of great quality & variety, cleanliness of aircraft cabin is well maintained, time management is also very good. So, I really feel it's worth flying with Kingfisher all the times.

Fly the good airlines
Jan 17, 2007 10:37 AM 1916 Views

I had flown by Kingfisher Airlines in February 2006 from Kolkata to Guwahati.I was pleased with the hospitality and the onboard infrastructure. With a little bit of extra charges they provided good food, entertainment and comfort.I had the option of choosing between vegetarian and non  vegetarian food.A small screen is attached to the backside of each seat where I could watch about 7 television channels though pre recorded and listen to about 5 music channels.

The ear phones were provided by the airlines which one can take back home along with some other stuff. I wish a bright future for Kingfisher Airlines.I hope that in the near future they will be able to provide the same comfort and entertainment with lesser charges. It will definitely make a new move in air travel.I would like to fly with Kingfisher again. Kigfisher Airlines : The King of all airlines
Jan 17, 2007 10:16 AM 6007 Views

I am a frequent traveler in the Hyderabad-Bangalore and Hyderabad to Delhi zone. Of all the airlines that I have flown till now, I rate Kingfisher as the best. They provide an international experience in the Indian skies( the tag line which is so, very true J) Right from the introduction by Vijay Mallaya to Yana Gupta explaining safety instructions to the food on the flight, everything has a class.

The best thing is that the pilots are equipped enough to handle situations like fog which very few airlines have. I saved some very decent time in the flight this Monday because the pilot could land in less visibility else I would have been waiting in Chennai for the fog to clear. I am really thankful to the airlines for that. Also, the check-in process is verysmooth and I have never faced any issue at that.

The last time I flied, it was the inaugural flight and we were served chocolate cake and given a souvenir. It was

a very sweet gesture. I think Kingfisher is definitely value for money and a great experience. I would recommend to fly kingfisher to all those who have not yet tried it. Since, I travel very frequent, the on-board television keeps me occupied and is definitely a great idea. Vijay Mallaya has done a great job with these innovative ideas for domestic flights. I would love to travel more and more on this even if it costs a little more because it is good value for the money

put in.

Kingfisher!! It is flying!!
Jan 16, 2007 08:49 PM 2105 Views

I traveled tru KF. Below are advantages and disadvantages I found.Advantages:1. The KF is very comforting to travel and for time pass, we have the Screen behind the every seat. Even some of the Malasiyan airlines does not have this in their interrnataional travels. I personally experienced.2. The ear phone can be taken home, which is non returnable. Single use only along with welcome kit.Disadvantages: 1. KF does not allow the passenger even less than  20-mins to  half an before closing the gate.

This is disadvantages for the domestic flights , where other air lines do allow the late coming passaangers,  as we are Indians  we can't be on time when we are in India, and nobody can change all of a sudden. :-)2. The flying rates are varying according to different times, this worst concept almost bought by KF only!!

I hate this, no body objects this.Comment:The KF air hostesses are very beautiful than any other airlines, also I worry for them, don't know how they survive in the winter time. Because may be the dress is uncomertable for them sometimes, when some people look the way at them :-)Cheers, Ashok!!

Kingfisher is good

I have travelled many times in domestic airlines but all of them kingfisher is very good, well managed and they really take care  of their passangers. The main things that reflects it best that is LCD in front of each & every seat, lunch, dinner and refreshments and air-hostess behaves very well.

World class... actually the best !
Jan 04, 2007 03:31 AM 2384 Views

During my recent trip in North India, I flew on three occasions during x-mas 2006.

Without a doubt, kingfisher is the best in the indian sky.

Brand new and clean flights.

Delicous food . and they feed you even in a 45 mins flight.

Very friendly ground staff. who would carry your luggage from the car to check in . was it a dream?

Gorgeous crew. I luv their red lipstick.

On time perfomance . inspite of the recent fog in delhi.

Their enthusiasm and friendliness is really infectious.

For someone who is used to pay 5 dollars for food, 3 dollars for ear phones, 2 dollars for newspaper,  and yet to get a smile from american airlines, kingfisher is indeed a paradise.

I have a couple of complaints.

Though I bought the tickets from UK, the reservation team has been ringing my parents in tamilnadu with the ticket details(in hindi and english).

International credit card was not accepted( but later I heard about the scam of 18 crores, so I dont blame them for being a pain)

No fog help line for the first few days and the SMS update service gave me info about a different flight!

In summary, Kingfisher is a clear winner and leader. Fantastic value for your bucks and I can't ask for more.

E TICKET - A curse for airlines
Dec 28, 2006 01:17 PM 3177 Views

Kingfisher is the first airline in India, to bring most modern luxury service to domestic sector. It has worked hard and spent a lot of money on training their staff, and acquiring modern fleet.

Its indeed a pity that Kingfisher airlines lost 18 crores on its hard earned revenue from online fraudsters, ( as per news reports in all media) who issued fake e tickets.

Vijay mallya tried something brave to give people a world class luxury services on domestic routes, and see how people treated him 18 crore rupees transalates to 36,000 passengers ( @Rs.5000 average per ticket) have flown on Fake E ticket, which does not belong to them.

These 36,000 passengers have travelled to their destinations, either with or without knowledge that they were travelling on fake e tickets, which the money never went to the airline.

Kingfisher must get to the bottom of this racket and arrest all persons who were involved in it.

In fact it must put a big red notice at airline desks, that they will be arrested if they were found to be travelling on fake names or e tickets fraudulently acquired.

Kingfisher must teach the scamsters a tough lesson. 18 crores is a lot of money. May be other airlines are also losing like this.

It is high time, Indian public must respect, the efforts of businesmen to give them good service.

AFterall they flew to reach their destinations on time, to achieve something. But not by cheating.

Cheating in such proportions is bad and sin. People who are involved in it must be ashamed of what they did to a new budding carrier.

Already Kingfisher is losing money , because of the rat race, and this is like adding fuel to the fire.

Its a pity, India has the best IT brains in the world, and this type of huge scam was never noticed anywhere in the world. Our IT brains are being misused.

Airlines must adopt hard tough systems to avoid such people to crack systems.Kingfisher must ask for Identity cards to prove genuine passengers only travel like driving license etc.

Its also time we have a genuine National ID card like all countries have.

Kingfisher management, must not sleep on this issue, it must wake up and attack the scamsters with a heavy hand. otherwise there will be many more born to bring all the businesses down in the country.

Until this is resolved, Kingfisher must suspend all ETICKETS in coordination with IATA .

Lets go back to the manual ticket system, where atleast investors dont lose money.

Shame on the E ticket system developed with such flaws. Credit card companies, must wake up and block all airline companies till the issues are resolved.

Fraudsters are as good as hard core criminals and must be sent to Guantanamo bay !

My miserable experience with Kingfisher !!!
Dec 07, 2006 01:53 PM 3953 Views

I flew on the Bangalore-Delhi IT208 ( 13 Oct , 8:45) flight and I had a harrowing time before getting into the flight. I was on my way to the airport and I happened to call up the kingfisher (080 41979797) helpline to check my flight status at 7 45. I was caught in unusually high traffic on Friday and I wanted someone to help me with a Telecheck-in. I had to speak with a particularly un-cooperative lady who refused to help me. I requested to speak to her supervisor who also spoke rudely to me and told me that since they were in the city office they would not be able to help me at all. They asked me to call at the airport desk directly and did not even attempt to help me. They told me that the flight was on time and I would not be able to board the flight if I reached later than 8 15.

I started calling the Airport office at 7 50 and I kept doing it till 8 20 and no one answered the phone. It was an incredibly frustrating experience to see an Airline treat its customers like this. There was absolutely no one who even tried helping me out. I reached the airport at 8: 23 PM and I was initially told that the counters were closed. On requesting that I be allowed, the lady behind the desk checked me in with a morose expression on her face.

On completing the security check in, I realised that the flight was 15 min late and boarding started only at 8 45. I narrated my experience to the Guest Manager who admitted that there had been a lapse and that I had been let down. The flight finally took off at 9 15, a good 30 min late. At every step, I was faced with non cooperative crew who were not interested in helping me out.

On my return flight, ( IT205 , 25 Oct) I reached the check in counter at 4 50 and I had to wait until 5 10 to be checked in for my 5 35 flight. There was just one passenger before me but it still took your crew more than 20 min to check me in. I was afraid that the same episode would be repeated but I was spared the trouble this time probably because its ok for the airline to be late but the passengers dont have the same rights.

This feedback was given to Mr Mallaya and he ignored it for a week. The reminder mail was replied to after two weeks and my experience with the airline did not perturb him too much, I got a reluctant apology and acknowledgement but the words were not backed by any sincere action.

Good times
Nov 21, 2006 03:07 PM 3567 Views

To save money I fly in all airlines, but when it comes to choosing my ticket - i'm fine to shell off 1000 to 1500 more for kingfisher .. just for the following reasons -

  1. Smooth passage for boarding pass. You really struggle on cheap carriers.

  2. Great crew, always listning and ready to help you. Other carriers rarely bothers about you.

  3. In-flight entertainment is good. Missing in all others.

  4. Good leg space and food served. Only jet can match the food quality.

  5. In time departure and arrival. Only jet can claim this with KF.

  6. Pilot assists you about the weather around and of destination. Missing in all low cost carriers.

  7. Clean and fresh interiors, rarely found in indian carriers.

  8. Baggages don't get messed up.

Rarely I have availed such quality service in domestic or international carriers. I wish they fly international very soon.

Fly with Good times

I recentlytraveled from Bangalore to Delhi & back (IT206 & IT205) byKingfisher airlines. That is almost 10-11 months after the launch ofthis airline. I was always getting good comments about this airline.Time had come for me to experience that. The experience was amazing.

Asthe catch line goes [Fly with Good Times]..they are really good. Niceinteriors, good legroom space, the in flight entertainment which wasintroduced for the first time in Indian skies by KF...and last but notleast the flight attendants, cabin crew ..:) all look amazing... Alsothe timing at the check-in counter was smooth. You get the personalwelcome kit which will have a headphones and stuff which looks nice.

Even the food served as fantastic.good selection of meal with a nice taste is attractive.

Overall I would say a nice and wonderful time flying with Kingfisher Airlines.

Better than any international airline out there.
Nov 12, 2006 08:46 AM 2496 Views

I have been flying all my life and have lost count of how many various types of flights and aircraft types I have boarded. Flown just about all major airlines ... singapore, british, lufthansa, every american based airline, almost all arab based airlines, swiss, france and of course our venerable IA / AI (back in the days of no choice and scowling gruff hostesses). I have travelled on many of the recent new entries in the Indian skies and I can say that our airlines compete with the best out there in terms of the service in the air (the ground services still leave a lot to be desired ... but that's because of the shoddy airport infrastructures ... there's not much the cabin crew of any airline can do about that).

However, King Fisher was clearly above the rest of the airlines in terms of smiling faces, professionalism, decent food, clean aircrafts and most importantly (for big guys like me) ... ample leg room and wider seats even in the cattle class. On many airlines, I pinch myself for my miserly tendencies to not upgrade to business class. As a result ... I travel in coach cramped like a sardine and console myself that it's worth the money saved.

However, in KF, I did not even feel the need to upgrade my class since I found the coach class adequately comfortable. I may wince at its owner (Vijay Mallaya) for his pompous supercilious attitudes ... but he's got a good thing going here. Thumbs up I say.

The best in Indian skies
Oct 29, 2006 02:48 AM 3502 Views

After taking lots of trips with almost all major Indian carriers, I find Kingfisher a little above best of the rest. Their check ins have always been swift and you are greeted by welcoming well groomed staff. I've never seen any of the kingfisher staff not in an excellent mood (fly Air India and you know what I mean).

Inside the flight the crew is very organized (it's been that way since an early age for the airline), I always get a copy of financial newspaper, and that too pretty quick. The cabin temperature is just right and warmth of the staff ensures you start to feel at home in a Kingfisher flight after a couple of travels with them.

They have ok onboard TV though they could work on the program selection (it would be nice to have good English sitcoms or something). If you get used to the TV, domestic flying in other airlines can get a bit boring.

Food is the kind you get on other airlines too, nothing exceptional.

The flip side - some people might call it a feature - they do these free "welcome kits" that are plastic bags with headphones and pen - that's a lot of plastic, so I won't rate them high from an environmental perspective but unfortunately Mouthshut does not have that rating criterion here. The headphones they provide are anyway of poor quality and you might consider using your own (there are standard stereo sockets)

There have often been delays and they have ALWAYS blamed it on to ATC. I find it rather hard to believe. It can't be traffic all the time. Jet might be more honest in that.

Overall I believe they're the best in Indian skies but there's scope for improvement

You are really Guests at Kingfisher Airlines
Oct 26, 2006 09:19 PM 2711 Views

Being a Professional Trainer I not only had a critical perspective but also the thoughts of an average passenger.......You board a Kingfisher Aircraft and you are greeted by warm smiles instead of plastic ones(other airlines). As Vijay Mallya puts it in his on-board welcome video(well for once his arrogance is understandble)"I have instructed my crew to treat you as if you are a guest at my own home". Well the cabin crew just does that...they are quite good at it. And the next thing which impressed me was the perfect combinatin of quality and quantity of food. The onboard music channels make the dining a good experience which otherwise would be a monotonous routine unless one is really famished that is.

From a Professional Perspective I must compliment the top management for they are really keen to take feedback from every Guest which is not the case with other airlines. In my experience other Airlines would take feedback from very carefully selected passengers who are almost sure to give them an excellent rating. Its almost concocted in other words

Needless to say that the hospitality of the cabin crew was hmmmmm,,,,,lemme put it like this..unlike the other airlines.

keep smiling,,,,,

A "Piece of Plastic"...On-Time!
Oct 23, 2006 10:24 PM 3097 Views

Well you'll hear this from almost everyone on the customer service of Kingfisher airlines...people going ga-ga over it...and why not...it does give customers a great experience!

I am impressed by the service which is offered by the airlines at almost every part of your journey with them starting from the time you book tickets...to the time when you reach airport...to the time you check in and board...and finally the on-board experience!

All great! Cheers and Kudos to Mallaya!

Wait a minute did I miss the "Piece of Plastic"??

Ahh well yes we all have seen the hospitality of the airlines. But sometimes I feel there is this Plastic Smile always "ON". There is this routine service which is monotonous and its going "ON".

So you didn't get the Plastic Smile thingy...Welll lemme instantiate: You are sitting in the flight and there is this small chaild who is probably crying because of the pain in its years...almost everybody is turning and looking at the child and its mother...However the Beautifully dressed Air hostess with her pretty smile can't just notice it???

Yes this was the plastic Service which I mentioned. Yes the people do take care of you, but its like they have been instructed to do so and they are being paid to do so...is there any initiative from the person taken to ensure Customer Satisfaction? I don't see that! Ya may be in my flight history of 15 flights with Kingfisher I may have missed that, but then here is a point for all those guys watching the Customer Success flag in service industry to look for!

Cheers:)

Best Airlines in Indian Sky

Recently I had to make my wife and my 2 yr kid travel from Kochi to Mumbai... after a lot of thoughts, I booked them in the Kingfisher Airlines flight IT309... I was toomuch worried as my wife has seldom flying experience with me, let alone traveling all alone...

But now I am sure, if it is Kingfisher, I can even send my kid alone without any worries...

from the moment she stepped in to the Kochi Airport, the KF agents were with her, assisting her in each and every step of check-in, and security checks.

I shud say that KF is the best when u r travelling with a baby. they cares so much, that I felt Jet, and airdeccan where I have travelled with my baby just dont care that I have a baby! I am sure I feel like exaggerating, but this is a fact which any one will agree once you trave with your baby in KF.

The flight landed 20 minutes before time, and at Mumbai, the KF agents were there to help her carry her hand baggage, till she met me standing outside the arrival terminus waiting for them...

Hats off KF!
