Kanua is located near Wipro Headquaters, Kaikondrahalli, Sarjapur Road, Bangalore. They specialize around Konkan, Mangalorean, Seafood cuisines. They charge pocket friendly payable budget of 1, 400 INR. for two people. They are functional between 11am – 3pm, 7pm – 11pm. Indoor seating places are available.

This is a perfect place for people who relish authentic Asian delicacies. Their Biskoot Roti has the perfect balance of bitterness and sweetness. Their Crab Fry is also very crunchy. Their Kokum juice is flavourful. Their prawn biriyani is very sumptuous.

Their Prawn Curry will keep on tending to you till your last bite. Their Sea Food dishes are splendid. A warm mix of some juices and spices, it was a perfect foil to the chilly weather. Their Fry Prawns is fulsome meal that goes well with the signature non-vegetarian dishes. Their Murgh Ghee Roast is very crispy. Their Neer Dosa is also filling.

Kanua is the perfect place for people to unwind and enjoy amazing drinks. Overall their management is very courteous and polite. One of the best parts is that there is no pretence in serving.

Kanua is a best place

Kanua in Sarjapur road, Bengaluru is a casual dining place that serves Konkan, Mangalorean and seafood. The average cost for two people here is INR 1400. Kanua has a spacious, airy terrace that is beautifully decorated with coastal motifs. There are candle sets on each table along with earthen water pots.

Their Kane masala fry is also finger licking good. Their prawns pepper is extremely flavorful. Their ghee roast is out of the world. Their neer dosa is also amazing. Their anjal rawa fry is a dish that is drool worthy. Their kanua chicken biryani is midly spiced and has a taste that will leave you craving for more.

Their Yetti Panhna Upkari is a tamarind based prawn curry that is midly spicy and it tastes great with their parboiled rice, which is brown/kerala rice cooked to perfection. This combination is sure to transport you to food wonderland and you are sure to enjoy your meal completely here. Their yeti randhei spicy prawn curry with sannas and Shevai are a food lovers delight. Paanak is a sugar cane based drink and is equally wonderful. Their Mangolorean style chicken curry is lip smacking and the other chicken curry is spicy and is equally tasty as well.

Their prawn curry is also finger licking good. Their rawa prawns are crispy and crunchy and are served with two dips.

Kanua is a place where you will get some outstanding food and your tummy will be happy and satisfied so it is definitely worth a visit.

Absolute bliss of a rooftop dining
Aug 21, 2014 03:20 AM4301 Views

Well, for once, I am absolutely in love with this place. It is known more as a romantic spot but I would say for someone who loves peace and quiet with some good food, this is the place to be. I have visited Kanua for some 3-4 times now and they have never disappointed me. I have mostly ordered the same stuff during my visits only because I love it.

With a bit of difficulty and only by the word of mouth, you manage to reach this place, up at the rooftop, is our destination. The lighting is dim and the tables decorated with candles. The service is pleasant and the food does not really take ages to come. The place is never too crowded.

Chicken Ghee Roast, a must have. Quantity wise it is pretty less but the mere smell of it is enough to tell you that is cooked to perfection.

Expensive but tasty
Jun 12, 2014 03:50 PM4257 Views

Ended up here somehow and ordered some masala fish fry, crab curry, vegetable stew and steamed rice sharing it between two people. The quantity is quite satisfactory.

What really struck about the place was that it was really comfortable and tastefully done, they have attentive staff and simply awesome food. The prices aren't pocket friendly. But then food this good can't be for cheap, you know.

If you are into coastal cuisine from the west coast this is the place to get to. The seafood is fresh, a rarity in Bangalore from my past experiences. The cooking is absolutely no frills, everything was cooked just right and it tasted great. It reminded me of the home cooked konkan food I've had some years back.

Invaluable disappointing traditional food.

It looks traditional south Indian konkani but the food & the ambiance not a compramise in quality and quantity.

FIrst Impression:

Dissapointment are the staff members sarcastic attitude and one sided way of handling the customers.

Chef & Waiters-

Waiters cannot explain the dish and very sarcastic chef who took orders.

Starters-

Sugarcane Juice- Impressive what we get in our farms in Coimbatore. Great.

Did not like starters and the presentation.

Main Course:

Neer Dosa-

Its average. Its between Aapam and dosa. Did not feel the real Neer Dosa.

Potato Gravy tasted below average.

Pepper crab-

The pieces and spice levels are not asked properly by the chef who asked orders. The crab select has not enough.

Dessert:

Tasted like Tamilnadu Thovaramparuppu Payasam in pudding but not impressive.

Below average invaluable fair and Will not visit again.

Perfect Place for Authentiic Mangalorian Cuisine
Jan 03, 2010 07:54 PM3463 Views

This place is a perfect place to get a taste of Authentic Mangalorean Cuisine. The food is really awesome. People are nice. Very hospitable.

The decor is also something that catches the eyes. I have gone only for dinners and so the dim lighting kind of appealed to me. They have no fans. They have those jute shades that let nice breeze through but would keep sun and rain out. At your table, they provide small candles.

Which, though romantic, is something that need re-thinking as it gets quite tough to read their very unique kind of menu. All items are printed on Postal Stamps and stuck. Kind of nice to see.

The food, as I have already mentioned is great. I felt they were quite pricey, but being a Mangalorean myself, didn't mind that too much as there are not many restaurants that I know off which have similar cuisines. For starters, I would suggest every one to go in for a glass of fresh sugarcane juice(also recommended by another of mouthshut reviewers) and a mutton sukka. Though a starter, you can still have Mutton Sukka with Neeru Dosa. For main course, again, Mutton Curry is good. Kori Rotti is also worth a try.

So this is it. I would suggest people to definitely give it a shot once. It's a family restaurant. They accept all the common cards. No Liquour is sold on board but you can get them along and it will be served. Quite a weird thingy to me.

I give it a rating of "Excellent". Not for daily viisits, but once in a while, Yes.

I would agree with most part of the review on Kanua that has been written previously. But my office being close to Kanua we tend to go over for lunch/dinner with friends quite often. so what happens...you tend to get over the initial feel good factors and start to observe small matter..

In terms of taste of food...customer service and how much it costs when 10 of you go over.I would still say....Food is good...wish the people there would explain the contents and preparation in more detail...you order something and it turns out differently...It tastes swell though..am not complaining..

If some one form andhra can feel this I am not what some one from delhi or punjab would have to go through...so spend time on the menu and order after some deliberation..Other point that I have noticed...the vegetarian menu always seems kind off fewer than Non - veg...or is it my impression. It food take some time to arrive. So if you go over...do have ample time...dress according to the weather.. (Winters can be cold...and watch for the mosquitoes..blame the land)..and enjoy a good meal....though its a wee bit expensive...

Kanua- the perfect get away!
Sep 22, 2008 09:05 PM3378 Views

Ever felt like unwinding away from the city and gorging on yummy mangalorean food? then Kanua is the place for you..This restaurant is is for the ones who squirm away from mangalore food as well. its located on Sarjapur Road close to More. There is no board mentioning the name but one can see its magnificence after crossing the narrow dark lane.

The ambience is perfect with natural air conditioning and its placed at a height at which you can a lot of the city.

coming to the food.... its all authentic and delicious. if you want a break from butter naan. paneer masala and dal makhani this is the place for you. its simplicity and neatness amazed me.

For the ones who like a little drink by their side, guess what? you can buy your own booze and get it served by them! that not only cuts cost but also you can buy the brand you want. kanua has the basic beverages, no alcohol.

The menu card is innovative and dont mistake the stamps for stamps! as they have a dish written inside. the menu is not fussy and it will not be too hard to decide what you want. All the starters (veg and non veg) are to die for. I may not be able to mention the name of dishes here as it is hard to pronounce and remember for that matter!!

The only thing the place lacks is probably the lashing of the waves of a beach outside! reminiscent of a shack. beware- you may not feel like getting up and leaving so make sure you have ample time to enjoy the place!!
