This was one of the place that we tried (or should I say ''forced to try'') when we found ourselves waiting endlessly for a seat in the ever so crowded ''Shiv Sagar'' restaurant in Aundh, on a weekend.
This place is diagonally opposite (a bit further down the DP Road though) to the popular & always crowded ''Shiv Sagar'' restaurant in Aundh, Pune but for some reason, this place does not have many patrons!!! The place is nicely lit up with serial lights in the evenings and we (me, wife & kid) hesitantly stepped in on a sunday evening, not sure as to what to expect. The hotel has a very homely ambience as it is indeed a two storeyed house that has been decked up to serve as a Hotel and it does portray a simple ambience.
The Menu has mainly North Indian & Chinese stuff and we ordered for Vega clear soup, vet kebabs, Singapore noodles, fried rice & a chicken side dish (forgot its name though because we had to repeatedly change our order based on the non availability of items & I finally forgot what we settled for).
The soup was really good, so were the kebabs which were not very greasy but nicely cooked. The noodle & fried rice were really good - quite comparable with the ones served in authentic chinese joints and the chicken side dish was excellent, the chicken was soft & fresh and the gravy was lip smacking.
Though the waiters were very friendly, they did not know the contents or the availability of most of the items present in the Menu & they had to rush back to the kitchen for any enquiry that we had (this was a bit irritating).
We enjoyed our meal at a very relaxed pace as the place was not even half full (which was very surprising as the nearby ''Shiv Sagar'' has a looong wait listed customers all days through out the week and this being so very close by to that joint, hardly has many takers).
We keep visiting this place when ever we feel like trying Chinese stuff and I would recommend this place to anybody staying in Aundh to try it once. The price is sort of mid-range and comparable with that of ''Shiv Sagar'' I reckon (I have never tried Chinese in ''Shiv Sagar'' though!!! Having Chinese in a Udupi restaurant?? No!! Nay!!)
Someday when I plan to be a bit more adventurous, I may try some North Indian out here but till then, its Chinese for me in Jerry's :-)
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
