My wife and my daughter would regularly visit Jawed Habib franchise Salon, Paud Road, Pune. They had switched from their conventional beauty parlor to Jawed Habib about a year and a half back.
Further, they paid another visit 2 weeks back to this Paud Road outlet but found that closed and also got to know that there were some labor issues so the outlet remained closed. They then looked for some other JH Salon around our area and found one in Baner.
We visited this JH franchised Salon in Baner on May 30 2015 like his any other one. After the hair cut was done for both of them, to our utter surprise and shock, the salon asked for the charges Rs. 500 (plus ST) per person just for the hair cut and nothing else.
Earlier, my wife would pay Rs. 149/- for the hair cut per person as proclaimed by JH everywhere for ‘Any haircut’ even on the website. We confirmed once again with the Salon receptionist about the charges where she told that those were the charges levied by them and not Rs. 149/-. After mild arguments, we grudgingly paid for that and came out with bitter JH experience.
I called up their toll free number and talked to the customer executive. She apprised my that there are two types of JH salons where they charge differently. That was shocking to learn. I instantly had the following thoughts and questions:
Why did they charge over three times for the same service when the other JH salons charge far lesser? What is so exclusive they provided when they charged so heavily?
Why were the hair cut charges not printed and displayed at the reception levied by them as your other JH salons do?
Why was there no mention of Service Tax levied anywhere? Why do they levy this when other franchises do not levy the same?
How would the customers differentiate 'Two types' of salons and know which franchise charges what if there is no such differentiating elements apparently visible?
Why is there no consistency related to the charges among their own franchisees especially when they proclaim everywhere Rs. 149/- for any hair cut?
We were feeling “sophisticatedly cheated” in this case and were expecting an explanation
from them which eventually was never provided despite repeated reminders. Am going to also encourage my family and acquaintances to refrain from JH salons or at least exercise caution while dealing with JH franchises. The conventional beauty parlors look far better… at least they are consistent and we know beforehand how much they charge for what they provide.
I advise others to exercise caution while dealing with such JH salons and stay away from them if plausible. They are unreasonable, give a damn to their customers post the services and do not know how to keep their customers feel satisfied. Their are not following ethical trade practices which addresses the all above concerns.
