I am an assamese so definitely have tasted authentic assamese cuisine.
"Jakoi" was a sheer disappointment. I was surprised that a restaurant located in a esteemed place like "Assam Bhawan" can try to cheat people. In the menu, it is written that "Joha rice" is served in the thalis, they serve and that in a way may justify the absurdly exorbitant.
to my surprise, the rice that was served was not "JOha" at all. Joha rice is a native assamese speciality which is well known for its fragrant aroma. when I confronted the lady at the desk(highly ill-mannered)she told me that it is not possible for them to serve joha rice and was very rude and called us "bad customers" to have complained about it.
my only point is why does the menu mention "joha rice" when you are actually serving something else? is"nt it an attempt to fool unsuspecting customers?. our woes did not end there, we had ordered "koloh chicken and koloh rice" which when served we realized was not only under cooked but smelly".
we were surprised that when we complained about it, the lady(who claimed that she is not the manager but a superior being) said this is how assamese eats chicken. I was shocked beyond words, being an assamese myself. had it been bambooshoot chicken I would have understood the smell, but for a chicken curry cooked in an open vessel, it is highly unacceptable.
more than the food, the attitude of the management(the lady claimed that she is superior to manager) appalled us. Not only she was rude but threatening me with police.
