A Love Story During Cold War
Jul 31, 2015 06:33 PM 1183 Views

I bought this book from the local book store. Helen MacInnes was one of the most popular female authors of espionage novels. The story is set in Washington where an American diplomat's wife falls in love with a Czech official. The setting is during the cold war era.

There is a lot of politics as well, which makes it a compelling read. This story is more of a love story set during tough times. The romance between the two main characters is beautiful. MacInnes's writing is engaging and the love story is intriguing. MacInnes had crafted a spectacular, a bit sad, storyline filled with beautiful, complex and memorable characters. It surely is a page turner and a tear jerker. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and ended up buying other MacInnes books. To people who are interested in espionage novels, I surely recommend Above suspicion and The Salzburg Connection.
