H.R college churgate commerce and arts- Prestigiou
May 28, 2018 02:58 PM2160 Views

This is one amongst the various college and schools started by the Sindh board. It imparts knowledge in both commerce and art stream. Because it percentage results are very high, it is sought after college and has a name even outside Mumbai. To get admission in this college is difficult as they take students who have scored very high on their respective boards. The ambiance of the classroom, quality of support staff, development of creative skill is very good, besides making a student job worthy. Parents try your best to get admission in this college for commerce stream for your wards.

Hr is the best college a commerce student can pursue in Mumbai. The college provides a lot of career opportunities to its students. The infrastructure of the college is good and the teaching staff is highly qualified. The location of th college is also great, it is 5 min walking from Churchgate station. The campus of the college doesn't have a large space but the labs and auditorium are of best quality.

I am currently pursing by bachelors degree in the same college . Studying at HR College is full of experiences , emotions, work , fun, love, concern ,

support and progress .An amalgamation of academics and extra - curricular activities offered here , is the sole reason why this college has been

termed as one of the best college in mumbai.

There are clubs to suit every student's need from

ENACTUS to their Cultural council ( CHOICE )

Jul 02, 2016 11:59 AM8464 Views

I have been a student of HR College. It is a very good college and offers good academic courses. Also the teaching staff is very helpful and supportive.

Also the clubs in college can help you pursue your interests ans take part in inter collegiate events.

Also the canteen food is very tasty though its expensive. HR College's canteen is famous for its Chinese food and one should definitely try this.

Also the college is very near to Churchgate station around 1- minutes walking and hence it is also good from the transportation point of view.

It is one of the best and most popular colleges in Mumbai. If you want your child to pursue the commerce stream then get his admission done in this college. THe faculty is excellent. All teachers are forever ready to help their students.

They even have several courses for degree colleges. Getting admission there wont be easy, especially if you have not scored good marks in SSC. Sindhi's can get admission easily through Sindhi Quota.

Canteen Food
Apr 30, 2015 02:23 PM15981 Views

My wife is passed out with H.R. College and this is one of the top colleges of mumbai where  atmosphere, campus, education, food everything is good.

Food of canteen is very delicious. My wife's favorite is chilly cheese toast / roll. Apart from that Chinese food is also awesome.

The bad thing is that all the things you will get in the canteen that means outsiders can not have these.

But don't worry there is a stall in front of the college where you can get all bread items like chilly cheese toast/roll, all kinds of sandwiches, pizza etc.

People must try this. Even I have tried many a times.

HR Certification Courses
May 21, 2012 06:30 PM7570 Views

When SARK solutions limited was recommended to me for Practical Training in HR, I was hesitant at first as I am new to Mumbai. But when I joined SARK, I came to know the difference between Practicals and Theory. I got industry specific training related to all the areas of human resource and SARK ensures that the student becomes "First day productive employee" on the day they pass out. SARK offers one of the finest training in management courses related to HR training & development and much better than any diploma in HR. I was given indepth practical training in Generalist, practical training in Recruitment and extensive practical training in Payroll and they gave me a job in Corporate too!

I would sincerely recommend SARK to anyone who is aspiring to be a first-day productive employee in HR.

'South Mumbai's Walk of Fame'

If one comes to the heart of Bombay city and sees some bevy of beauties serenading the congruous road leading one to the iconic Eros theater and another to the mighty marine drive don’t be surprised! Welcome to Churchgate where one can find rushing office goers to delivery boys, college drop outs to college toppers, breathless beauties to impoverished children and dreamers to achievers.

Here lie the top four commerce colleges apart from other elder counterparts which now just lie in the relics. When I first came to Bombay in 2003 with all my admission anxieties, I didn’t hear much of H.R College except for the fact that my cousins studied there and so my parents wished for it.

My grandfather longed that I take my admission in Elphiston college, Siddartha college or Bhavans college which represented his times and values. Sadly it wasn’t true because these colleges have now been buried in the pages of history, even though they are still covered by India Today and Outlook surveys as frontrunners for Mumbai’s top colleges. Similar is the fate of Sydenham College which shone in

Asia at one time but now is famous only for its festival and past students with present oblique. That leaves me with Jai Hind, K.C College and H.R. College.

It’s a very tough decision to choose between Jai Hind and H.R but I finally

selected H.R. College out of my instincts and boy was I happy! The Full Name of

H.R. College is Hassaram Rijhumal College of Commerce and Economics but is

widely known by H.R. College or House of Romance. Let me start with

Infrastructure: A first look at the college and it seems like a residential

apartment until you see horde of students with all colorful gaiety crowding the

road, someone munching street food; someone showcasing their DC modified car and

the rest bird watching.

As you push and shove into the college, the campus

welcomes you with a brief lane which starts with an office and with seven steep

steps ends with college canteen, nothing beyond that. The canteen is roof top

which is a smart move by the authorities to cover up their lack of space. There

is lift in the ‘building’ which is occasionally for students who pretend to look

like professors. The library is huge with computers align with it and the

classrooms trendy with computers and projectors in each class. Talks are on for

providing air-conditioned classrooms. The auditorium is ironically smaller than

few of the classrooms but is well equipped. Thus due to clustered space

everything is squeezed in the space bought by the Sind Board in the high end

posh locality. As far as Education, Learning and Placements are considered it is

very well managed by the active and zealous principal Dr. (Mrs.) Indu Shahani

who also happens to be the Sheriff of Mumbai. Various programmes and drives such

as clean Mumbai etc. are initiated by the college which provides a good platform

to the students. The reputation of the college is also on a high with big

corporate houses visiting the campus and offering jobs to a B.com/ BMS graduate.

There are also various summer programmes in the college which are mostly sham

unless one stamps his mark thyself. Also, due to the principal and her good

networks, it edges out other colleges in providing houseful of opportunities.

The college also prides itself on Alumni from corporate leaders such as Kumar

Manglam Birla, Gautam Singhania, Ruia brothers to leading stars of the

entertainment Karan Johar, Suneil Shetty and Aftab Shivdasani etc. The college

has celebrated Raju Chinesewallah who has a tale behind him. He used to sit

outside the college canteen and the students ate the street food more than the

canteen food. So he was roped in by the management and was made the official

chinesewallah for the college. Although the food is great but it is always like

a mob on fire or with scavengers on hunt for food, students flock around and

there is nothing as privacy or space to breathe in. Butterfly Café is never a

canteen but a fish market and prices are always steep. The Drawback of the

college is that due to its elite crowd it is a mixed bag of superficial snobs

along with middle class earthly crowd.

If students have a wish list to study in

a sprawling campus, with a soccer ground then this is the wrong place to choose,

although the college has a tie –up with the Oval maidan nearby. The college has

also won many accolades in the diverse sports such as billiards, scuba diving

etc With distinct years, the college has high cut offs and to add insult to

injury has sindhi quota too. The staff of the college often acts as if they have

been working with the government departments, often pissed off with the

students. The location of the college could be a boon for South Mumbai locals

but it’s a bane for people staying afar, though marine drive serenity, a sassy

crowd, fine placements and high end reputation in Mumbai adds up to all its

shortcomings.

New York United States of America
Great Experience

I graduated from HR College in 1995 - its been nearly 12 years. The success of any institution or organization depends on its people. HR has a history of admitting students with strong academic track record, offering activities for all round development and delivering knowledge via competent faculty. I must add that physical space continues to remain a problem.

I have leveraged all available resources at the college - the library, the faculty, the mentoring program and the extra curricular activities. The 5 years at HR helped me develop my personality into a confident person and opened several avenues for career development. Back in 1990s, HR brought in guests lecturers- business management, hotel management, stock markets, RBI, SEBI and several other institutions. HR provided the plaftform to develop ones interests not only in academics but also in personality development.

12 years since graduation from HR, I earned the CFA in India, the MBA from Carnegie Mellon, USA and have now worked at leading Global Investment Banks in New York, US. HR has been a key contributor to my successes so far and will continue to do so in the future.

This is a great institution.

Hi there !! Since I completed my HSC way back(not 2long) in MArch2003, thanks to my percentage, I got a chance to be a student of this very good rather the 2nd best commerce college in Mumbai. I love this college and its various aspects.

HR is located in the heart of Mumbai's TOWN area. Situated at 123 Dinshaw Vaccha Road, its just a 4minutes walk from Churchgate station exactly opposite SOTC at Vaswani Mansion. KC college is adjacent to my college.

HR is famed as the in Mumbai rivalled only be Podar, Matunga. It is a sindhi minority college managed by the Hyderabad(Sind) National Collegiate Board started in 1960 having been awarded A grade from NAAC.

HR is a very compact college based in a very compact campus. There are 5 floors in all to the college, the sixth being the terrace which houses the AD-office(for the Advertising vocational batch). On the ground floor, is a beautiful walkway with pictures to the left. The office, the computer Lab(cybercafe)[the otherone is in the basement], and the gymnasium are set side by side. The office has been beautifully renovated and the famous is just at the back side of the campus on the ground floor. The Chinese dishes are yummy, add-ons include the PAVBHAJI, Idli, Dosa counter and so on...... Moderately priced btw Rs.10-Rs.45 depending on what u take. Excellent coupon system to avoid misappropriation of funds. On the first floor lies the Principal's room, the mini-conference room and the Library. Probably one of the best college libraries, quite compact-includes an airconditioned reading room(mostly its aircooled rather than airconditioned). The staff is helpful, and there is also a language library(language improvement devices like linguaphone are also kept). Second floor houses the teachers' room. Rest of the floors house the different classes. There is also a mini-canteen on the 6th floor for the BBI and the BFA and the BMS people. On the fifth floor is the CONFERENCE ROOM-A.C.(always). Lift usage for the students is not allowed except if u have a pass(issued under strict circmstances by select professors). So its heave-pant-hushahh-climb to the higher floors. Campus is a BIG absence.

Faculty at HR is great. Not only they are affluent(exceptions are there), they know much of the things they are specialised in, and very helpful. Good professors...... Visiting faculty also adds liveliness to the air. Recently, the college has roped in some M.Com students to teach, who are young and creative. Most of the faculty at HR is world-certified(recd awards from foreign bodies), which adds to their charm. The principal of our college Prof. Dr.Indu Shahani is a charismatic person with a great personality. She defies the 'stereotyped' Principal figure ! Proud to be her student.

Much of the crowd is from South Mumbai, the other major group from the Western suburbs and a small amount from the Central suburbs and Navi Mumbai. Crowd at HR is decent, modest...... No one is ZHAGRIMAGRI type. This is COOL ! My experience at HR has been great. There are MANY EXTRACURRICULAR GROUPS IN THE COLLEGE which always keep the atmosphere abuzz with programmes and other activities. Being a part of such groups gives one a view of being 'seen' in the college....... If u aren't a part, still its a worthwhile experience.

The new rule states 75% compulsory attendance, but it is hardly popular amongst the students. For the first lecture(S.Y.B.Com-Degree) starting at 7.10am, there are a max of 10-15 students out of 150-160 students per class.

what I dont like - Nothing as such, except some of the office staff.... They tend to get very grumpy sometimes. for no apparent reason... Lecs starting so early as 7.10am. Its hard to reach there from places like Dombivili and Ulhasnagar.(i live in the first and my friend at UNR).

Aftab Shivdasani is one of the more famous alumnis'.
