Hotel Monaal is situated near the Chail market area. We went to this place in February this year. So, you may find this review a bit too late .hmm!
Well. this was our honeymoon trip in Himachal and Delhi. I was looking for a nice but not-so-expensive hotel in a place far from regular crowded tourist spots in India. I found this place(Chail) and Hotel Monaal, after an extensive google search! But, it was worth it. Chail is a very very small, calm and deserted place, specially in the winter. atleast in February, when we were there. At that time it was full of snow, but we got a sunny weather during our stay!
The hotel rooms are quite good and cozy with attached bath(and hot water), carpeted floor, TV and some nice decoration. Big glass-windows open up at the snow-covered valley and woods. marvelous! One bad side of the room is the insufficient heating facility. We rented an electric heater(for Rs.150/- per day). But, it was not enough to hit up the large room. Additionally, they should think of repairing the lights attached to the bed.
And, the FOOD! It was superb! a nice breakfast and dinner. We tried our lunch at the restaurant near the Chail palace which was also good. The young and energetic room-attendant is very friendly and he really takes care of the needs of the guests. And, I must mention the nice old lady who owns this hotel. We enjoyed her company and small chats with her in the lobby.
A good thing about this hotel is that one can book rooms online. There are some packages, too(we took a 2n3d package).
I hope you will like this place and the hotel as a short trip to a snowy and calm town in the himalayas! Have fun.

- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
