Hidesign for long was just a high-end brand, read and seen at places for us, until we happen to try them out.
Shopping Experience: What triggered our purchase was a Rs.1000 gift card I had got by way of credit card points redemption.
I knew Hidesign products are expensive so did not dare to enter their stores many a times but as the expiry date of this gift card was approaching, we decided to visit them.(In Goa, the store is located at Mascarenhas Building, MG Road)
As I had thought, there was absolutely nothing that my gift card could buy in that denomination. But we did not wanted to let those 1000 bucks go waste. So, the cheapest thing that we could purchase was a hand clutch bag for my wife - for which I had to shell out about another 1500/-.
With our first purchase we had gained confidence shopping with them and the next time we visited them was to purchase a hand bag. This time, it cost us about 6k for a decent looking bag.
Quality: Excellent, since items are handmade, it's of high quality and the brands offers warranty on their all products. Durable and classy. Hidesign has definitely carved a mark for itself in the market and its a style icon, people like to carry with them. Useful for both office and other casual outings.
Variety: They offer items in many shades of Brown, Black and Maroon color. For both men & women they have wallets, laptop bags, sunglasses, belts. One can also gift vouchers.
Price: Upbeat! A basic wallet/clutch would be 1500-2000+ while purses/handbags would be 3000-5000+.
History: Will you believe me, if I tell you that Hidesign is an Indian Company? Yes, it started in 1978 at Pondicherry, India by one Mr. Deelip Kapur. I always believed all designer brands are made outside India. Though, Indian it commercially entered into India in almost year 2000. Currently, they have a multistory store at Pondicherry including a cafe and a museum.
They began as a small time workshop and started marketing their products in Australia, US and UK and from then the growth has always been upwards and did not see any downfall.
Hidesign claims that they do not have an assembly line for production but their products are handcrafted and their craftsmen cut leather and stitch using their hands. Sounds quite amazing!
Today, it's a premium leather goods manufacturer and operates about 2000+ stores in India and several countries around the world.
Online sales: They also sell online and free shipping across India, cash on delivery and return within 30 days are some of its best features.
As always, beware of imitation bags sold online. To be safe, purchase from their retail or online store or from a trusted website only.
I would recommend buying one, though the price is expensive, it will last longer and is surely a style statement!
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
