Heavy Horses - Jethro Tull Reviews

New Delhi India
The Essential Ian Anderson
Jan 09, 2006 01:17 PM1138 Views

For rock fans who love the acoustic sound, and in particular, Jethro Tull fans who love the band's acoustic work Heavy Horses is a ''must listen-must buy''. It is the kind of album that you can listen to around the clock, flipping from Side A to B and back to A again... endlessly.

The title track, Heavy Horses is brilliant across all parameters: the lyrics read like poetry, the instrumentation is complex, varied and multi-layered, and the vocals are among Tull's best. Other acoustic gems on this album are Moths, Weathercock and the ever-popular One Brown Mouse.

A very interesting piece on this album is The Mouse Police Never Sleep. It has an energetic pumped up rhythm and some really intriguing https://lyrics.

Moths is one of my personal favourites on this album. Its lyrics, guitar-work and acoustic guitar riffs represent everything that Tull fans crave for. This song, along with Heavy Horses, conjures up images of a time long gone, a past that Ian Anderson loves to live in.
