I am a pass out from NIFT, delhi and have had a close interface with fashion, colour and graphics.
it was a foreplay of these elements which was compounded by computers. I attended a workshop by INTEL at ANSAL PLAZA, DELHI where HCL Beanstalk was inaugrated. they had a software ejay installed and featured on the desktop. it was nice making movies and composing music. it was quite an experience. believe u me, it was just out of the world.
but once we bouhgt the machine, the look of the desktop was different from the normal windows. too much of segregations, which meant that everytime u log on and go to ur own section. if u wanted to access a non-common file u have to relog as another user.
talking so much about NIFT, I use at least half a dozen softwares (mostly graphics) at a time, and most of them are heavy softwares.
the goddamned machine worked fine for a while, but within the first week started showing signs of pregnancy!
it started hanging up the moment I opened more than a two softwares at the same. so much for 40 GB of hard disk and a mind boggling 1.5 Ghz speed.
why is this happening is still not known to me, but I guess a computer is as good as it behaves. having used more than 50 computers till date, this was the best that I had come across and also the biggest disappointment.
i don't know whether to recommend it or not.
a big name, a bigger showdown! an assembled comp would do much better only if the user had gumption enough to handle it. HCL or no, hang ups are here to stay I guess.
