When we moved to Victoria we needed a new blender. We always buy our small Appliances at the London Drug Store. After check out a few of the blenders we decided to buy a Hamilton Beach 901. We were able to carry the box so we took it home. It slipped out of the box easily and in seconds it was plugged in and we could use it immediately. *Please remember to always keep your box, the foam and your receipt in case you want to return the item.
THE PARTS AND ACCESSORIES: There is only one way that you can put the container onto the base so this insures you the container will not slip off and the things inside fall onto your counter or the floor. The lid slips on and off easily. There is a slot you can pull off if you want to add ingredience that way. There are four stainless steel cutting and mixing blades that makes it easy to chop up ice and to blend in vegetable or fruit chunks. On the container there are measurement marks. There is a handle that is easy to hold. There is a lip on the container that makes it easy to pour out liquids. There is an easy-to-change neoprene clutch that was already assembled and on the box it says that this was ''designed to increase motor life''. The blades were already assembled, there is a 3-wire grounded plug and an on and off switch.
THE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW: ''The Blender weighs 8 lbs. The base is almost 6'' high and 6'' around. The container is a clear hard 44-Ounce Polycarbonate material and is 9'' high. The Motor is 1/3 HP. and it the electrical items are 60 HZ, 3 AMPS and 120 VOLTS.'' It only has one speed but it works as well as the two-speed blender we had before. CLEANING UP: I take off the top and wash it in hot soapy water. When I take off the container I cannot put in into the sink because the electrical connections are on the bottom. That's fine because I want to rinse it out with cold water first, (this takes off the guck quickly), and then I wash it in warm soapy water. This process takes less than two minutes. THE COMPANY: Hamilton Beach is owned by the Proctor-Silex Company. It has been in business for over 90 years They make a lot of products and their web site is: https://hamiltonbeach.com
MY THOUGHTS: I love my new blender and if you are looking for a new one I hope you will take a look at this one. WHAT DO I USE MY BLENDER FOR: I have made pates, guacamole, humus, (a chickpea dip), fresh apple juice, margaritas, daiquiris, iced cappuccinos and Pallavi, (jilmil on ciao), got me ''hooked'' on a breakfast milk shake. JIMIL'S'
BREAKFAST MILK SHAKE: '' 1 banana that has been broken in to chunks. 1 handful of ice, (I try to use the smaller pieces that are on the bottom on my ice tray. 1 glass of milk, (I use 1 % but you can use whatever type you want to). Blend for about a minute and your milk shake is ready to drink''. I add a sweetener and my Husband adds a tsp. of sugar. I have also made this shake using 1/2 cup of yogurt and 1/2 cup of milk. I also have made milk shakes from strawberries, blueberries and mangos. They were all delicious. *If you try the milkshake let Jimil or I know if you liked it. *The copy write is for my review as the shake belongs to Jimil. ©LL2002
