The customer service in Delhi is not responsive and have rude and inappropriate approach towards customers.

Customers services need to be monitored and improved.

Warning to travellers

On June 14th at 3:30 am; I arrived at Colombo airport to join a group of six passengers already waiting at check in  counter, which was closed; departure was scheduled for 5:00 am, waited till 9:00 am; no one showed up.

According to a customer representative, seats were re booked to others on fist come, first serve and cancelling those on waiting passengers rendering existing itineraries useless, and forcing me to re purchase a  return ticket to the USA  from Thai airlines. Baggage was lost for 30 days, returned thereafter, only to be dumped in thrash.

All three locks were broken and contents lost.

Good food.

Till date it was very good. Food provided was good. My parents also traveled and they liked it too. Now around Nov 10th going to travel with 3 and half months old baby. Will give the feedback again after the trip. Expecting good service even this time and some help from the air hostess.

Expecting of getting a good seat and privacy to feed the baby. Some tips on helping the baby to tolerate the air pressure change is welcomed. Have heard that they guide you through the steps to make the baby comfortable. An extra pillow provided would be better for nursing the baby.

Bad airline
Jun 23, 2009 11:06 AM 27602 Views

It was in 2006 I first traveled to bahrein and dubai to attend a 7 day conference. Since this was not a very urgent or deadline oriented trip, I chose to opt for an aconomy option ( not a direct flight but a connecting flight that is from mumbai to bahrain and bahrain to dubai ).

The first flight was GF 57 in the morning from mumbai to bahrain. The cold behavior is the first thing you notice as soon as you enter the aircraft.

I assume the reason behind this could be most of the passengers do small & odd jobs in kuwait, riyad, doha or quatar like cleaning airports, toilets, construction work etc. and belong to a humble background.

Obviously the cabin crew treats everyone alike. What a pathetic experience. Irrespective of your class and background, you deserve a professional treatment with warmth and smile.

After all you are not travailing for free or they are not doing a favor to you by allowing you to travel with the airline. You definitely deserve a better treatment.

Food etc. is not worth mentioning. The only thing it reaches you in time.

Now about the second flight FG 1008. This was good. Better seating, better aircraft, better & courteous cabin crew. Good food. But you have to accept one thing that is racism. Nobody behaves oddly but you can feel the difference in the way they treat Indians over all.

The coming back part is no different. The check-in counter is the first place you experience racism. The tend to take you for granted.

As a nature lover and fond of scenic views, I always reach airport a little earlier to get a window seat. This time too I reached dubai airport before many others and went straight to check in counter to ensure my window seat. I was told the flight was full and I will get a window seat in bahrain-mumbai flight.

Once I reached inside aircraft I found it half empty. I was surprised why I was not given a window seat.

later when I was on my wat from bahrain to mumbai, my widow seat did not have a window

Overall a no no if you do not have other options or a tight budget.

Though it wouldn’t be appropriate to write to you, I’m appalled at your airline services in Indian sector inspite of writing several times to then CEO and the Customer Relation Manager and the assurance in rectifying the lapses followed especially in Mumbai –Bahrain route. I once again pen down on my recent experience with Gulfair addressing the issues to:-

Kind Attn: Ms. Kavita S. Al Jassim, Head of Customer Care & Service Monitoring

Ms. Ruth Birkin Director Customer Services

In my opinion, its lackadaisical approach by your team forgetting their prime responsibilities. I’m sure Indian sector has made prominent role in Gulf Air progress since 80’s which you should not forget. We do understand that the majority of the passengers are labour class working in Gulf region, but an Airline c’nt discriminate in its services as long as they are your passenger and they have paid for their air ticket.

The food served on this sector is pathetic. Gulf Air is only concentrating on cost reduction by slashing on basic services and compromising on passengers safety and wellbeing which are very critical in nature that an Airline has to offer to its passengers.

There is no menu variation since an year.

· The food is served cold.

· The very same inferior quality rice.

· Potato curry (Potato being half cooked)

· Kidney bean masala. Both these items are similar in color and taste.

· There is no presentation. Is this food lifted from a standard hotel or from any labor canteen?.

Gulf Air dominates certain routes like Chennai - Bahrain. Just because we dont have a choice Gulf Air thinks that they can treat us any way they want.

I had a confirmed ticket from Manama to Chennai on a thursday evening. I had reached the Manama airport 3 hours before the scheduled time and to my surprise I was told that the flight is full and cannot be accomodated. Like me there were atleast 12 families running from pillar to post to get accomodated.:(

I was to get engaged on Friday and I was desperate to fly that day. I literally begged them for a seat atleast for a seat in any of the flights flying to Bangalore or hyderabad. In curteous attendants didnt even care to respond they were very harsh and literally it was like shooing me away like a begger.

Attendant said that it was a regular practice to do a over booking and that day it was overbooked and they cant help me out in any way, He said that all other flights to Hyderabad, Mumbai and Bangalore were also full. I didnt understand why on earth do they say that the tickets are confirmed and what it means. If they can let people travel based Gulf Air's wills and wishes why do they confirm the tickets.

I called up my travel guy and shouted at him. Then he rechecked and said there was a flight to Hyderabad and he can book me in. I was asking the same with the Gulf air guy but he said flight was already full and cannot accomodate me. Then I had paid an extra of 7K to get my ticket rebooked to hyderdrabad. Inspite of all the pains I could not make it to my engagement on time.

I will never ever even dream to fly on Gulf.

In another incident, While travelling from Chennai, I had requested for a Aisle seat, But the Person at the counter said, the flight is full and he can give me a window seat, and only one aisle seat is available in the last row. I accepted it and after entering the flight I saw almost 14 Rows of the flight was empty unoccupied.

Tickets are much much costlier when compared to emirates or other flights. inspite of paying them more. we get treated like Dogs.

I flew from london to bahrain then bahrain to chennai...

the trip from london to bahrain was exeptional their was a chef on board [im not saying they were cooking...lol...perhaps supervising] and the food [in economy] was first class the best food I have ever had on an aircraft the cabin crew were attentive and helpful.and the entertainment adequet, as far as I can remember we arrived at bahrain on time... six a.m. ... we had a stop-over until 8.25 pm so they took us to a very nice hotel..we were just preparing for bed when a phonecall informed us the were still serving breakfast... so we went down and had a beautiful breakfast...

Then bed... we got a phone call [i cant remember the time ] informing us that the dining room was available to us.. so a quick shower then more good food... then the bus collected us and back to the airport... I really dont enjoy hanging about in airports but in the grand scheme of things this is what we have to do and bahrain is not a bad airport to hang out in... but then we were into the indian side of gulf air the boarding was slightly chaotic the plane itself wasnt too clean the cabin crew werent bothered and the food was plastic ... we arrived in chennia the night after the english cricket team and had heard how security had been beefed up... perhaps it was ... I saw a quite overweight old policeman and that was the security... my journey was like a football match... a game of two halves... the first half was first class the second was basic economy... so how do you judge them as an airline?

Gulf air overweight scam
Nov 17, 2008 03:05 AM 17849 Views

I flew from London Heathrow to Delhi via Bahrin in Nov'08. When I checked in on the counter I was told that the weight of my suitcase was 36 kg. In fact, I have a handwritten note from the check-in clerk who gave a good smile possibly knowing what was to come up. I had previously checked the weight at home and was quite careful not to exceed 30 kg limit. So naturally I was surprised.

I went over to the supervisor who advised to pay up the excess charges. I then went to the nearby weighing scale available on airport. When I checked, it turned out to be 29 kg! I again went over to the supervisor to complain but she was simple unapologetic. When I asked for a complaint form to stop such scams, I was told the Gulf Air do not have a complaint or feedback form!

When the suitcase was checked again, it turned out to be 32 kg on the same counter. When supervisor was called in again, she said that every check-in counter will give, hold your breadth, a different weight. So it depends on the luck which counter one goes. In fact it's a good strategy to keep changing the queue if one is found overweight.

My overall experience was quite poor and will never fly by this airline and keep discouraging people to use this airline. My recommended airline is Jet Air which is quite professional on this sector.

Essence of India rather than Gulf
Jun 30, 2008 12:32 AM 17708 Views

I would not make this review too informative or descriptive, since descriptive reviews are a waste of time ,both for the author as well as the reader. I hope you would find this review short & sweet.

Gulf Air is an airline which I can relate directly to the Indian ones. No,I am not talking sarcastically or critically( I don't mean to say that the airlines run by Indians are bad), but as I've mentioned in the title, it has more of an Indian essence rather than Gulf or middle east. I mean the airhostesses, stewards, pilots, food, etc were largely Indian(I may be wrong but this is what I observed in the past few trips). This is probably because of the large Indian population & influence in the Gulf.

Speaking of the airline, for me, it was very convenient & comfortable and the service, flight timings, etc were quite reliable. Some of my friends & relatives who travelled by Gulf Air said that they weren't that happy with the service & were left just satisfied. I assume that they might have been comparing it to other international airlines & hence came up to this conclusion. But, for me it was good enough & I kind of enjoyed it.

My family & I travelled by Gulf Air in both of the trips to the U.A.E. We felt it was an ideal airline for these locations. When we approached the ticket counter, we found the service a bit slow, since we had expected better service, being an international airline. However, once we boarded the aircraft, the service was quite good. As in other airlines, this one also had airhostesses/stewards welcoming the passengers, showing the location of the seats, breifing the passengers on safety instructions, announcements, etc before takeoff. After takeoff, the staff was quite helpful to the passengers & also managed to serve lunch on time. The lunch was typical Indian, although it had a few foreign items. Before landing, the passengers were briefed properly regarding the time of landing, location, outside temperature and more.In other words, the service was comparable to the other airlines I have travelled in.

Gulf Air can be potentially, one of the many choices regarding airlines that a person can make while travelling to either U,A,E or Bahrain.

Indians rude with indians??
Feb 23, 2008 02:34 PM 17265 Views

Although I have travelled within India a number of times, this was the first time I went out of the country. My sector was Delhi-Paris, via Bahrain and I flew in Economy class.

Well, while going to Paris, everything was excellent. Including the food, the entertainment, the service, the respect with which the air-hostess spoke, etc

NEGATIVE ASPECT:

But while coming back, from Bahrain to Delhi, it was in stark contrast to my earlier journey. There were lots of indians who were coming back who probably worked in construction or something and they did could not speak much english. The airhostess were rude to them, ignored their requests and looked at them with contempt(I sat with one of them). And unfortunately and ironically, it was the indian air hostess(who obviously spoke hindi) who was treating them like this. The air-hostess who were not indian were as good as the earlier ones when I travelled from India.

I dont know what to make out this. Whether its the airlines who is at fault or it was the haughtiness of the indian airhostess that is giving them a bad name.

Please do remember that whatever I have written is an experience of just 1 flight that I undertook with Gulf Air. I had earlier thought that it could just have been a one-time incident. But then, looking at the other reviews, it sorta clears my doubt.

But personally, I didnt experience any of that. If I get this flight cheap enough, I just might go again.

ADDED AFTERWARDS:

(POSITIVE ASPECTs reinforced.:))

Well, I might just be wrong about generalising my experience about the behaviour with some indians as I have travelled just once as the others have pointed.

Regarding the check in and other things, everything was really good. Unless you have extra weight, check is swift. I had 7 kgs excess and being a student going for an internship, I could not afford to spend any extra money. So I had to plead and negotiate a lot before they allowed me the extra weight.(But this is a mistake on my part, and I would suggest that do not rely on your negotiation skills to get the excess baggage without paying any extra money which is quite hefty: around Rs.700/excess Kg).

Entertainment was also very good(I watched a hindi movie and some english comedy soaps), in fact, there were lots of channels on the entertainment. Another thing, I am 5'9 and my built is good, and I found the space in the economy comfortable enough. I could easily sleep for a couple hours. We got clean blankets and nice small pillows. They also served beer and wine apart from the regular juice and cold drink. I had juice(see, I am a good boy:).

Well, I had 5-6 hr stay at Bahrain to catch my connecting flight to Paris. Bahrain airport is sorta ok. Its not big where I waited. One can roam around for like an hour at the most. Neways, I had my laptop and I got a power point so waiting didnt trouble me much. The airport even has wi-fi. You can buy an hour connection for something 1 dinar.

So, in retrospect, everything was really good except maybe that one little incident that I didnt like. It is quite possible that some our fellow indians might have misbehaved in the past, but it still doesnt mean they should have been rude with those people(basically, I am talking about the one that sat next to me).

Please let me know if there is anything else you want to know that I may have missed.

Gulf Air good to be Grounded
Dec 12, 2007 11:58 PM 15522 Views

Gulf Air is perhaps one of the worst Air Transporter plying in Indian Sector, milking the poor Indians. With travel cost for Muscat -Kolkata sector ( 4.25 Hrs travel time)  more than that of Muscat-AbuDhabi-London ( Etihad Airways -10 Hrs. travel) , it is so pathetic that these carriers do not even bother to be courteous to passengers , passengers who have no other choice for direct flight to Kolkata from Muscat , unlike passengers travelling from Gulf Countries  to Cities of Kerala.

I wish the days of Gulf Air is numbered & other carriers will provide better services as is given to passengers flying to European Countries.I do hope the aircrafts that Gulf Air has got the airworthiness certificates from renowned agencies , as I seriously doubt the same seeing the shabby condition of these aeroplanes, Even national carriers of third world countries provide better services. If this message goes to other co-user of the service & hopefully gets raised to a level of Ministry for  External Affairs/Civil Aviation, I hope there will be option in near future.

Refreshingly Better
Nov 13, 2007 01:49 PM 13460 Views

Gulf Air offered a very competitive first class fare MNL/BAH/DXB/BAH/MNL - so I decided to go with it. The flight on departure was delayed by 3 hours due to mechanical problems. I was offered a seat on a later flight and the experience was very positive - save for the fact that Manila's airport is, doubtlessly, one of the worst in the world.

Manila's first class lounge (note, not Gulf Air operated) is a huge disappointment. Vouchers are given for 10 minutes free use of the internet, and after that one has to pay about US$5.00 per hour (rather steep and contrary to other first class lounges globally. Gulf Air makes up for this by personally escrting passengers through all formalities and seeing that they are comfortable in the lounge. At flight time, Gulf Air staff escrt the passenger to the aircraft. Seating was comfortable, service supurb as were the meals, and connections at Bahrain were re-arranged so the transit was hassle free. Arrival into Dubai was late, but otherwise went very well.

The return flight was much the same. Transit in Bahrain is comfortably accommodated in Gulf Air's comfortable lounge and formalities are simple. Staff in the first class lounge went out of their way to see that matters were resolved promptly. The aircraft was one of the recently refurbished A340's and was comfortable and clean.

Good, bad and better
Jul 23, 2007 02:33 PM 12393 Views

I had an

opportunity to fly Gulf Air between three sectors, Kuala

Lumpur – Bangkok, Bangkok – Bahrain

and Bahrain – Dubai. I was traveling

between Kuala Lumpur and Bahrain and

back. Since there is no directly flight to Bahrain. I

had to take Gulf air. I was traveling business class on all the sectors. Let me

first highlight the good points of the airlines. Firstly the staff was very

good. Right from my check in counter staff, flight attendant till the ground staff,

all were very helpful and cheering, something I seldom see on other

international airlines.

The flight between Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok was very small,

and the service in flight was pretty normal. But the flight from Bangkok to Bahrain was

very good. The aircraft was wide body and the business class was quite

spacious. As soon as I made my self comfortable in my business seat the flight

attend can to me with wine and insisted me to have one. The food server was

quiet good and variety of drinks, which I obviously enjoyed. The staff was very

friendly and would periodically check with me if I need anything. My return

flight from Bahrain to Dubai was also pretty

comfortable and I enjoyed the journey. Another good point of this airline is

their frequent flyer program. The points don’t expire till 10 years and you can

share your point with you families, unlike other airlines frequent flyers point

expire in 2 or 3 years. I even like their website. Its very neat and user

friendly.

Now let me

share with you not so good points. The short distance aircraft (the one I

traveled between Kuala Lumpur

and Bangkok) was quite old. The one we can see in the low budget airlines.

The interiors of the aircraft are lose make noise during take off and landing.

And the seats in the business class are as good as economy. Thought the staff

was very friendly, they were not polished. They were struggling to do their

activities among them self. As though they were handling the flight for first

time. The gift packs were also not so impressive compared to other airlines.

The gifts were very low quality. The business lounge at the Kuala Lumpur airport was very-very small and

could not occupy much people. Though they tried to have the cafeteria, a bar

and small golf areana in small area.

Nevertheless

I enjoyed the flight and the food. The staff was very friendly and took good

care of me. This is a value for money airliner.

If you are an Indian and have self respect avoid
Feb 20, 2007 04:43 PM 13669 Views

I am working in abudhabi and flown by gulf air many times and mostly because no other choice. But now a days I wont fly by them, because they treat you as dog especially when you are an Indian. They moke your langauge, moke the action, give a big zero care and through cold and junk food on you. I have experinced three times some baharini crew put food over my head and told sorry, when I complained it had no effect. Not only I stopped travelling my company stopped booking with them.

Very bad behaviour in check in, stupid behaviour inside and many time the baggage is thrown in intermediate stop like muscut & doha. If you have any clarification required call me. One flight from Salala to Muscut, they served all with cold dirty smelling sandwitch. Their Mumbai flight from Abudhabi on 14th Jan 2007. the baharini crew member was telling a bad word in malayalam to all passangers as if he thinks it  is a good word, when some of us interfered the whole crew threatend us saying that we are trying to hijack plane. Horrible, dangerous avoid thier flights.

BEST AIRLINE EVER!
Dec 09, 2006 08:59 PM 13856 Views

Don’t trust the other review! Read this first!

I had regrets on flying with this airline as there all these bad reviews about

it! I thought I would try it out so I can really see what it was

like! My view is that all the other reviews are just not helpful this is what it was really like:

Our first flight with Gulf Air and was presently surprised.I didn’t expect anything like Emirates’ standards given the exceptionally lowprice of the fare, but to be honest they weren’t a million miles off, andprobably better value for what you actually pay. We had seat-back TVs with areasonable selection of films etc, the plane was clean, we had more legroom than I’ve ever had in economy on other airlines, and all flight attendants seemed polite enough & The staff were great they look after me well the also looked after the kids well (the sky nanny was excellent!),Presentation-wise the meals weren’t amazing, but the food itself was actually very good quality and much better than BA on the same route given the low price, again Judging by the other reviews it looks like Gulf Air’s service isn’t as consistently good in economy as other Gulf-based carriers - there seems to be a lot of luck in what aircraft and crew you get. Everything was great! If you like shopping then the airports they stop in are for you! Everything was super cheap! I got the most leg room in economy ever. You must join the frequent flyer as you get 10 kg extra free! I got 600 miles free, for choosing the statement email option! The ticket

was super cheap; I paid £410 to go on gulf air. The airline was all good. Looked at the prices for Emirates: £610 on the same route

but a stop in Dubai (I had to stop in Bahrain

which is wonderful) so I thought it is better to go with the cheap one. I am poor as it is. My flight was: London-Bahrain-Islamabad Return: islamabad-muscat-london! The airport was clean, cheap and well kept, Duty free was cheap Gucci perfume

£20??? Surely they got it wrong!!! So the airports kept well and the

airline is clean and good. I’d certainly fly Gulf Air again if they competed so well on price I recommend you go with them.

My experience with Gulf Air
Oct 30, 2006 06:26 PM 12410 Views

I stay and work in Dubai. Last year during Eid holidays I decided to visit my home place in India and booked a ticket through my known Trave Agent. I was informed that the flight will go via Bahrain. The halt at Bahrain will be for an hour and later the flight will proceed to Bangalore. But on landing at Bahrain we were informed that the connecting flight to Bangalore had already leaft as we were late by half an hour. Nearly 20 to 25 passengers like me were accommodated in a Hotel in Bahrain and we left Bahrain the next day after a cool 24 hours stay in Bahrain. My total planned stay in India was only 3 days. Alas one day was wasted in Bahrain. On reaching Bangalore my baggage did not reach and I went home without any baggage. The staff of Gulf Air at Bahrain were umsympathetic and accommodating in a hotel was thought as a big favour. In fact Gulf Air overbooked and made good money at our cost.

Fortunately my baggage at Bangalore reached two days later, just before my return journey. The above incident made me decide to avoid Gulf Air in future.

In fact I always prefer either Indian or Air-India. It is a lesson for me for having chosen another carrier. Let my experience be an eye opener for others.

Horrible Experience Ever Experienced in my Life
Oct 18, 2006 10:22 AM 10704 Views

Sir, I was travelling from Muscat,Oman to Mumbai by Gulf Air. I boarded the aircraft around 1.30am. On my first view on the air craft ( very old and dangeroud look it possess) I got fear about it. Next , The aircraft started around 2am. Immediated while taking off it started jurking,Vibrations and some unusual sounds which appprehened almost all the passengers sitting in the aircraft. The jurking continued for 30 minutes. After that jurking and vibrasion stopped. But another problem of Electricity failure started. All the lights and TV systems suddenly stopped for about 1minute and this thing happened 2-3 times. With such things I understood that some fault is this in the aircraft, As I have gained some knowledge about aircraft funtioning. Because of this one do not believe me that I was so frightned that my heart got paining and my mind was gone and I refused eating any thing which airhosts offered. I took only one glass of water. The lady sitting beside my seat was a frequent flyer. which was revealed by our conversation and her passport details. Even she was also feeling tensed and blaming airlines officials for poor maintanance of the aircraft. I started preying to the god. Meanwhile i was observing the lady and her feeling as she was more experience in flying than me. This was my 7 flight journey in my life. I started asking her time to time - Are we reaching to Mumbai? She replies no it is still far. After asking 9 times i thought it is good to see outside from window and started looking outside. On continious looking outside i discovered lights on Arabian Sea. Immediately without hesitation I asked the lady -Are we reaching Mumbai? This time with a little smile she told Yes,we are nearner to Mumbai. This answer of lady realy pacify me a lot . Now I generated a feeling that whatever will happen to aircraft No problem as if any thing bad happens to Aircraft i will die on my own country land. I thanked to the lady for giving information. Immediatly the Cabin Crew announced that with in 10-15 minutes we will reache to MUMBAI. Finally anound 4.55am ,Indian Standered Time, aircraft reached to Mumbai CST airport. When aircraft landed on grounds of MUMBAI,INDIA, I preyed to god once again and immediately went to Toilet. And I was the 3 to last person who came out of the plane as I was in the Toilet for 3-Minutes. While coming out from the aircraft what I saw was most astonishing thing in my life. A group of some 8-12 airport personnel was standing in front of the plane. They were waiting to inter the aircraft .That time I was sure that there was some problem with the aircraft in which we were flying but due to god's blessing we all are safe.

I travelled 7-times in Aircrafts but I never experienced such experience in my life. I strongly believe that Airlines companies should not think about money aspect only, thoug they are in business and but they should not forget that they are serving human kind. So All Airlines company should maintain properly their aircraft and they should think maintanace as investment to humanity rather than expediture.

Thanking You

London Heathrow - Abu Dhabi

A330-200

I went off to abu dhabi for a short holiday in feb. Yes! I thought a great chance to try Gulf air and its great product, which people had been saying was improving rapidly. The whole saga began when we arrived at London Heathrow, our flight had been cancelled. We would have to transfer to a flight to bahrain and then on from there to abu dhabi! what a problem I thought! we had the business class lounge of virign atlantic to use (we had paid extra for) and we wouldnt be able to use it because the flight was due to leave 2 hrs before our secduled flight to auh was suppose to! So off to the plane and no time to use duty free! what a great start to a holiday.

The aircraft was a newly fitted one. A330-200, which was a bonus. from talking to fellow passengers it happens alot to the last GF flight out of LHR, the cancel it and then bump those passengers on the bahrain or muscat or abu dhabi flight and then the connection on. The cabin crew were rude! no eminity kits for anyone, no one at the door to greet us, what a great image, I thought.

The meal was served around 2hrs into the flight and as soon as that was done the crew were in the galley. all you could hear was laughing and them talking! I wanted to order duty free yet they didnt serve and when I asked she said she would be back. I never saw here again. Now I hope not all GF crew and I know some arent because I ave friends in abu dhabi who fly for GF. so it is only a few who are letting the whole crew of gf down!

Now the transfer to the A320 from bahrain to abu dhabi. ok flight only 45mins.

Well what a great image of GF after my first flight. At least I had a great holiday to look forward to! but then there was the flight to LHR again! NOOO!

Abu Dhabi - London Heathrow

A340-300

This was meant to be a direct flight from auh - lhr, yet it had orginated in muscat, and none of the muscat know they were having a stop in auh!

The crew were just as bad! The meal was below average and again no amenity kits!and to top it off..........no IFE, the aircraft was so old that even the ceiling TV were of a bad quality. at least this was a night flight!

As we on finshing the flight 1-2hrs until LHR I asked for a tissue as I had terrible cold.....and the stewardess replyed 'im here for your safety and not for your comvience!' WOW that was a gd one I thought I had never heard that one.....not even on an ameriacm carrier!

Well on arrival to LHR I was glad that the joruney had finished! Looks like I should have stuck to etihad! and I know will! dont be tricked by cheap tickets from GF!

ETIHAD is much better! also a not GF has stopped there service from LHR -AUH looks like EY have been giving them a ride for there money! GO ETIHAD AIRWAYS!

I was surprised to see that Gulf Air received a rating at all! In this site they request us to write at least 150 words. I would write my comments briefly here.

In brief my experience with Gulf Air is that;

1) They are usually late,

2) Multiple cases of Lost & Never Found or Recovered luggages (mine was in 2001 where I had personal items that were lost and never recovered),

3) Leaving their passengers, regardless of flying class, in the airport throughout the night on 22 Dec. 2005 on their flight from Bahrain to Abu Dhabi while keeping facts from the passengers about when the next flight will be available,

4) Forcing all First Class and Business Class passengers to travel in Economy Class without at least apologizing to them

5) And finally refusal to refund difference between paid for Business Class and actually provided Economy Class.

I would consider these issues of serious nature that would require a serious review of this Airline rating.

Don't fly Gulf Air

Gulf Air is extremely unprofessional and unreliable. While its employees are courteous, they will often lie to your face. This is frustrating because you will often be in a foreign country when your flight is delayed or canceled, or when you find out that you have been bumped from your flight. Even if the employees seem helpful, do not trust them. Bottom line - if you are a migrant worker with limited financial options, Gulf might be OK. I don't write this to be insulting to migrant workers. I write this because many migrant workers with limited financial means fly Gulf. If you have a steady job or are even a student with limited means, spend $100 or $200 more and fly another airline. This might seem a lot at the time, but when you have to be at work, school, home, or a celebration on a particular day, $100 more is worth it.
