The best a man can get
Apr 04, 2015 01:48 AM4668 Views

Gillete, shaving gel used by millions and billions of men around the world. As per its catching Tagline its definitely the best a man can get. The day I started shaving, as far as I remember I have only used Gillete. Now, not shaving cream, they also have foam to ease your job. Apart from these, Gillete also have Shaving Razors like Mach 3, 4 and many others.

If any boy steeping into the shoes of the man, my suggestion is to use Gillete only.

Gillette Flexball
Dec 22, 2014 02:32 AM5551 Views

I remember my first ever shave when I was in 11th class, I wiped my mustache clean and removed the rest of the 12 strands of hair around my cheeks and a 4 on my chin. The razor I used was called a Gillette presto( a twin blade disposable razor) back then and it didn't even break sweat in the 59 seconds it spent touching my face. Back then, in India – the Gillette presto was the only civilized razor available to humans as others used something that was designed in the Indus valley civilization, modified by the Egyptians and perfected in the dark ages.

It was all metal, weighed as much as a small personal weapon. If you do not know what I am talking about then there is a picture for you.I cannot understand why people would still use this mini meat slicer for a morning shave after rubber plastic and batteries had been invented but it is quite easy to spot one who does so. My father is one of them, after all these years of me presenting him the best and safest razors available to the gods, he will never use them twice and go back to using his ancient mace with a blade.

He argues that he never gets a good shave with the modern razors and that it is worth the pain and 5 pounds of cotton soaked in anti-septic solution for that one perfect shave leaving behind a scene which probably inspired movies like Kill Bill.My introduction to this review goes to show that I will make yet another attempt to rid humanity of the curse of the ancient razor by presenting the latest Gillette Flexball razor to my father quite simply due the fact that this morning I had one of the best shave ever. I haven't tried brands like Schick in a long time and I have been using the Gillette fusion for a while.

I have however gone down to the Gillette mach3 turbo of and on to save money but that’s as low as I am willing to go. Yesterday I was at Walmart and saw the new Gillette razor on display, watched the demonstration of it swivel around corners and then bought it. This morning I was with little hope that it would be any better than my regular Gillette Fusion; however I was wrong – for all the right reasons.

The swivel action does work, the razor glided quite smoothly on my skin, I would have gone thrice over the same spot but not more than that. The one I bought was a powered one(it vibrates when you push the start button- AND AN LED GLOWS), the experience was smooth and the aftershave lotion did not burn my face much, which means I had far fewer cuts. When I glide my fingers as I am doing right now, I can say again that this was one of the best shave I've had in quite some time.

If you are still stuck with a traditional razor, this just might pull you out, for others like me I would say this is a fine upgrade.

Gillette still the best a man can get in India!
May 20, 2009 08:10 AM13000 Views

Shaving is something virtually all men hate. It always is a tedious process and it hurts. However, Gillette's blades and shave gels have always made shaving a little less painful and a little more enjoyable. It's kind of funny, the majority of guys enjoy being clean shaven, but hate to shave!:-)

We all know Gillette's world famous slogan, "The best a man can get, " but does this still remain true after all of these years? The answer is YES! Gillette merged into Proctor and Gamble in 1995 and still has the world's best shaving razors and very good shaving creams/gels. In the United States, Gillette has faced stiff competition from Edge, a shaving gel manufactured by SC Johnson, and from Schick Razors. Personally, Edge's gel tends to be smoother and gives a better shave than Gillette's, but Gillette's razors remain on top.

The Gillette Razors:

The Fusion: a five-bladed razor with unique features, such as a precision trimming blade, a spring-loaded blade, and extra micro-fins for the ultimate shave. Currently not released in India.

The Mach 3 Turbo: An enhanced version of the Mach 3 released in India in 2003, with extra lubricating strips and a spring-loaded blade to provide a better shave.

The Mach 3: Released in India in 2000, featured a revolutionary 3 blade system, which allowed for far closer shaves in less time.

The Sensor Excel: Released in India in 1997, an advanced update for Gillette's popular Sensor blade system. This blade featured a better spring-loaded architecture and more lubricating strips.

*My experiences with Gillette Razors:

*From the days I started shaving, I always enjoyed Gillette's razors because they provided the best shaves and the blades were long lasting. I still use the Sensor Excel because my lip is a little too small for the Mach 3. The original Sensor while good, was notorious for giving people deep nicks and cuts. To fix the problem, the Sensor Excel featured more springs and lubricating strips. The nice thing about Gillette is that once you buy the razor, you will only have to replace the blades every couple of weeks. The razor, itself, will last many years. The Sensor Excel was a vast improvement from the old Sensor, but still requires you to be careful because if you're not you will get cut and nicked. The Mach 3 was much better in this regard because even if you accidentally shaved roughly or quickly, nothing would happen.

*The Gillette Shave Creams/Gels:

*To date, Gillette has created several shave creams/gels, although their market dominance hasn't been nearly as much as the Gillette razors.

Gillette Foamy:

Originally created in the 1990s, this unique shaving cream came out as a rich foam and lathered instantly. Was probably the best for many years.

Gillette Series Gels/Foams:

In 1997, Edge was introduced in America and the UK. This was the first ever shave gel, which came in a long tube and, instead, of releasing a soft foam, released a concentrated gel, which could be lathered into a rich foam on the face. Edge proved to be vastly superior than Gillette foamy because the gel allowed for a more concentrated mixture of lubricants and cleaners to be used. To counter, Edge's rise on the market, Gillette release a new brand of shave foams/gels known as Gillette Series. The Gillette Series products also came a long cylindrical tube, instead, of a wide cylindrical can. The Gillette Series foams were supposedly richer and creamier than the Gillette foamy products and the Gillette Series Gels were supposed to be exactly like Edge's gels, thick and rich to provide the best shave possible.

*Shave Creams/Gels vs. Soap and Water:

*Before Shave creams and gels were invented, the most common lubricant used for shaving was soap. Soap would help clean the skin and would provide a slight lubricating effect to allow the blades to cut the beard smoothly. The problem with soap and water is that it often left people's faces very dry and didn't provide enough lubrication, so cuts and nicks were common. Shave creams/gels contain cleansers, which help rid skin of dirt and oil and vast amount of lubricants to moisturize the beard, so that the blades will be able to cut smoothly. Shave gels tend to be more concentrated and provide a better shave than shave foams.

Gillette Shave Gel tubes:

An ultra concentrated shave gel that comes in a tube foam. If you buy this product it's absoloutely necessary to use a shave brush.

*My experiences:

*Gillette foamy comes for about Rs. 90/- for a 200 mL can. The product is probably the best shave foam on the market as it's richer than Palmolive's and is a very good value. I would say that Gillette Foamy is equal to Old Spice's shaving cream.

The Gillette Series Foams are horrible, as their foam is light and airy and doesn't provide a smooth and comfortable shave. On the other hand, the Gillette Series Gels are pretty good, as they provide a nice concentrated gel, which lathers very nicely for a fairly comfortable shave. When I'm in the US, I still prefer Edge shave gel over Gillette's Gel because Edge has more lubricants, but in India there's nothing better than the Gillette series gels. Both the Gillette Series Foam and the Gillette Series Gels come in similar looking tubes, so be careful, which one you buy. Gillette Foamy is made in India, and the Gillette Series products are imported from the UK. Even though I like the Gillette Series Gels, at Rs. 225/- for a 200 mL can, I'm not convinced that they are good value.

*Aftershave:

*One thing few men realize is that shaving leaves small cuts in your face. That's why after shaving your face burns. The problem is that these cuts often don't heal in a day and many men continue to shave over them, which aggravates the problem. Eventually, large holes form and your face gets a punctured look. This is a very common problem in India. That's where aftershave comes in. Aftershaves basically contain a large amount of alcohol to help heal those small cuts and close your pores, so that your face continues to look its best. While Gillette Series aftershaves are expensive, Rs. 200/-, they are very good and come in many different fragrances. Old Spice's after shaves are also very good.

*Shaving Technique:

*To get the best shave, I would recommend applying a lotion or a cream to your face before going to bed. This way in the morning your beard is softer. Before shaving I would recommend washing your face for a minute for with hot water. Even though Gillette Series products claim that you don't need to use a brush, I still do because the brush helps soften and raise the hairs, so you get a better shave. Remember to always use plenty of shave cream/gel and use short strokes with your razor. Always rinse the blade after a few strokes, so that the blade won't get clogged with shaving cream/gel. Once finished, wash your face and wipe clean. Remember to use aftershave.

*Final Thoughts:

*This review was kind of difficult to write because what can you really say about shaving cream/razors, they are what they are. Anyway, I hope that this review will be a helpful evaluation of the Gillette brand and as always, comments and rating are greatly appreciated.

Gillette - Best for a man
Sep 30, 2008 07:04 PM5791 Views

Gillette shaving foam does not require brush to apply on the face. Just squeeze it on the hand and apply it on the face. The feeling is one of coolness and smoothness. I have been using this cream for a long time now and I can think of changing to any other brand.

I prefer buying the can which is more convenient and cleaner to use. Gillette is my favorite brand and the combination of the Gillette Shaving cream with the Mach3 blades is just too good for a man. This gives me clean shaves every morning with no cuts or bruises.

Also, purchased Gillette After Shave Lotion (Cool Wave fragrance) from City Centre Mall, Kolkata.  The fragrance is great, one of my favorites. A creamy lotion, the moisturizing action is convenient in winter times. The product is a good complement to the Gillette shaving range. I prefer this fragrance during morning it keeps me fresh all day long.

The best a man can get
Feb 22, 2001 01:13 AM8068 Views

It would be true to say that Gillete makes the best of the products available for men in the personal hygiene section and it is based on the personal experience of mine.Whether it is the newly introduced Mach-III razor system or the various gel based shaving applications and aftershaves and lotions it is best to go with gillete.

The latest Mach-III is the best innovation to date since the birth of the shaving system and believe it or not it was a totally different shaving experience. The blades are placed at the best angles and I have not even slightly cut myself even when I have been shaving in a hurry also the best way to start your morning is to apply the shaving gel, which compliments the blades of the Mach-III giving a perfect shaving experience.

In the aftershave category the available gels are 'Pacific lights', 'cool wave' and 'wild rain' and each I tell you gives you that lingering of freshness feeling.

To sum it up all the products from the Gillete stable will

ensure safety of your skin and also ensure your personal hygiene.

Gillette Cool Wave ASL Try It!
Feb 12, 2001 10:53 AM4168 Views

I had got Gillette After Shave Lotion (Cool Wave fragrance) as a gift. (That was a lotion, not spirit based). The fragrance is great, one of my favourites - a cool & sporty masculine feel. Since it is a creamy lotion, the moiturising action is convenient in winter times. The product is a good complement to the Gillette shaving range.

Since it is a lotion, the product may not go well on oily skins and avoidable during summer and rainy days. Generally I prefer this fragrance during morning and day time.

So friends, try it, I'm sure you will like it.

Shaving Cream ? NO, Facial Cream!
Jan 31, 2001 02:10 PM4264 Views

This is not an After Shave, but a Shaving Cream. Its Gillette Foamy (Sensitive Skin Shaving Cream ). Its a white cream which jets out into your palm through a sideways nozzle at the top of the container. But what it does is wonderful. Its has a thick extra rich creamy lather. It helps in giving a very close shave ...and so comfortably. It has special lubricants to protect sensitive skin. It has an easy spread and rinses clean leaving the skin soft and smooth to touch.Trust me , I know!! Its so good on the skin, I wonder if I could just use it as a facial cream ! And theres more...The fragrance is devastating ! It would keep the females hanging around you.. SO VERY REFRESHING !
