The Gaylord Restaurant, located in the Regal Buildings in Connaught Place is a very popular one. It draws its customers from those who visit Connaught Place for shopping. There are many restaurants, big and small, around the Regal Buildings, but Gaylord stands out as a popular eating place. It serves Chinese, Punjabi, Continental and Italian dishes. For a restaurant of its popularity, the place is crowded. No music, no soft light. Even the noise of Connaught Place gets into your ears. Its timings are from 10.30 am to 11.00 pm. Being situated in the CP area, car parking is difficult. All said and done, the food served here is delicious.
Whenever I visit Delhi, I come to Gaylord at least for a cup of coffee, and the big Samosa it serves. I was there with my American grand daughter in August last. We had Chinese food. My grand daughter started ordering for item after item without having any idea about the quantity of each item to be served, much less about her capacity to take all the items put together. The food was really good, and service was equally prompt. The waiters were very prompt and friendly. Cutlery and linen used were of very good quality.
Chicken-Mushroom Soup was extremely good, and the bread served with it was very good. My grand daughter wanted to have Fish and Chips, which were my favourites too. Those were excellent. Finally, we had ice cream. A good lunch indeed. An average meal costs Rs.150/-
When the waiter saw that we were not able to consume all that we had ordered, he offered to pack the leftovers for later use. We liked his initiative in the matter.
Gaylord in the Regal Buildings of Connaught Place is really very good. What else can it be ?
