Garam Masala Songs Movie Reviews

Navi Mumbai India
Just one good song...
Aug 14, 2016 09:43 PM4890 Views

Except for the title track, "Teri aankhen Garam masala", which was very good, infact I caught myself humming it every other day, no other songs were as catchy.

Maybe the cinematography of the songs gave them an extra appeal, but if you ask me honestly, most of the songs didn't really hit the spot. I just wanted other songs of this album to be as good as the title track, but unfortunately they weren't.

garam masala ....blast off

I am writing a review for this Album for the second time ...and I am afraid this one is not better than last one ..... some internet problem cause me loosing the review yesterday .... anyway Garam Masala still is the best foot loose album and my delaying the review can not do anything .....

So here are some details about the album .....

First Songs :-

adaaaa Two Versions of this song but for normal listening and dance number ...sonu nigam provided some masti through this song in his usual manner .....

chori Chori ... Two Versions of this Song ....i love Simple one ...but none is simple out of the 2 ...so I must specify that the version sung by Hema Sardesai and Sukhwinder Singh is better than Punjabi MC One .....one of the reason for that is my not being a Punjabi ....

Falak Dekhoon ... Slow and Fast ....2 versions .... slow ones bores a bit because I like dance nos mostly ....but some nice lyrics is there .....

Kiss Me Baby ..... 22222222 i.e. two versions again ....really Adnam Sami Sings the Magic....one is simple with Neha Dhupia dancing and other one is Video Mix with John and Akki Dancing like Maniacs ..... I love the second one because I am a maniac myself ... ;)

Dil Samundar song is nice with KK putting some power and mystery in the song .....good album ...

Good Album overall and love to hear this again and again ...

Any One Having Starting Music of Kiss Me Baby Song Video Version as Ringtone plz help me in finding its keypress for nokia ...love that tune ..... ;)

An Album to Boost ur energy and Pump ur Heart ....

Garma Garam...John ~Haye Marjawa~
Nov 28, 2005 07:03 PM7621 Views

Garam Masala movie review has already been posted and now comes the Album review. How can you see me being quiet when John's movie is around and that too a super hit movie like Garam Masala. The music was also a strong part that the movie did well and for the first time in recent time I have like Preetam the music director of this movie.

John I love you very much and way you have smiled in all the songs picturized on you is really great...Haaye Marjawa .....(Sharmaos and shys away behind curtains)

:D

Now the music review of the album...

Music by Preetam

Lyrics by Sameer

What follows is my first ever Music Album review....

1) Dil Samundar

Wow...this song is more catchy then any other in the album thanks to the John's terrific looks in the song especially on the beach and also somewhat the music that is given. I liked the starting of the song..especially that constant playing of violin and then followed by constant Dooba Dooba that is really catchy and makes me to listen this song again and again. Waise I feel Sunidhi Chauhan deserves honors for this more then KK.

2) Ada and Ada Remix by DJ Suketu

This one is by Sony Nigom and is cool song to be very honest. Especially the main original song which starts off coolly...Let the base Kick...that is really cool. The hip hop style is going well and Sonu does extremely well in the light music mode...The overall music is good plus the lyrics are also good...

Remix wasnt like by me much hence a no no to this remix.... So DJ Suketu ko kaho Dj Futletu.

3) Falak Dekhu..

Another Sonu Nigam song but is less appealing..looks like Himesh REshamaayaa has stepped in to direct this as it is simple mass hindi song...nothing new to start with especially with the music and also the song is kinda dull in the movie...

4) Chori Chori...

Cool song...especially the boys version which is not the part of the movie but sounds pretty punjabi and raw in style and hence appeals more sung Jajua guy from Punjabi MC. The female version looks ok to me and I didnt enjoy much. I have heard Sukhvindar and Hema Sardesai after a long long time.

5) Kiss me Baby..

Forget the slow no. listen to fast number here...That Mota Adnan Swami must have eaten a lot again to sing this good a song..It starts off well and is carried off well throughout the album. Just liked it very much...

Especially the tune of Garam Masala ...tun tuntuntun tun...

TOO GOOD.

On the whole the album is Fantastic and John Abraham is awesome :D :D

Garam Masala

Flirting, fooling around, never mind attitude and of course Masala is the essence Priyadarshan’s movie Garam Masala. The movie was flawless comedy without double connotation on women and cheap sex. Although, Priyadarshan’s last movies such as Hulchul, Hungama and Hera Pheri were bundled with laughter capsule, Garam Masala failed to stand up to the expectation of the viewers. One of the things that worked for the movie was that there weren’t any decent release on Friday. With love stuck obsessive Salman Khan and cheap comedy of Shaadi No1, Garam Masala was the only option that the viewers could lay their eyes on.

Women in the story were reduced to mum dolls with no one nearing the word “intelligent”. Although, there was juxtaposition between the new age liven relationship and the age-old suspicious attitude, the so-called “other half” are demeaned as “four halves” (not to forget Rimi Sen”).

If the three “air hostesses” were the women in the story, I wonder what were Rimi Sen and Neha Duphia doing in the movie. While, Rimi Sen was asked to forgive Akshay Kumar who was sleeping around with three females at the same time, Neha Dhupia I guess was made to wash all the utensils in the restaurant thus, making a vanishing act in the first half.

Will some one ask Mr. John Abrahim to act and not to look dumb when performing a comic act? The character played by Mr. Abrahim was not only unimpressive but if Priyadarshan was clever enough he could have asked some one else to do justice to the role. Not only did the character end in a big dismay but was also reduced to dimwit.

The only three people who touch the height of hilarity in the movie were Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. The characters played by them were not only high on pun but was also completely convincing. While, Paresh’s acting has always been a masterpiece in all the movies, Rajpal Yadav was a surprise packet. Akshay Kumar as usual was splendid in the comic roles.

We expect Mr. Priyadarshan to take women a little more seriously and not to reduce them as mere love making dolls.

Expect these small hiccups, females can catch up the movie only if they leave their ego and feminism at home.

Hey friends, I’m finally back with another review..after experiencing the worst thing that ever happening to me! You know what..right....yeah.. SCHOOL!!! Anyways, lets get to the point of this topic! Enjoy....

1. Adaa: This album is filled with songs from different categories! Just like this song Adaa, music was wonderful and just gave you a good feeling when you would listen to the song. Sonu Nigam has once again proved himself as a very talented singer in Bollywood. As you can notice at the starting of the song, you can feel the beat of the music....and when I first started listening to the song from the starting, I knew that it would be a good song! The smooth music gives an interesting groove.. makes me want to sing the song whenever I listen to it!

Adaa...Aye haaye adaa.....Hosh udaye adaa......Kar de deewana.....

Adaa....Jaanleva adaa......Qatilana adaa..... Maar daale naa....

Awaara yahaan dil kitna hue laptana....Adaa....

2. Chori Chori: Sung by Sukhwinder Singh and Hema Sardesai. In this song you face that punjabi type of music. The two singers have done a very good job...over my expectations! Especially Hema, she was awesome... I loved her voice. It gave a sort of cute feeling to the song. Her voice really suited the song. And Sukhwinder has finally come back with a wonderful fast beat song! He was also wonderful. I like the punjabi beat... made the song so interesting to listen to.

Chori chori chori chori dil le gayi....hayo rabba hayo rabba le gayi...

Dil mein basake..menu apna banake soni sapna dikhake dil le gayi....

3. Falak Dehkun: To tell you the truth.. I wasnt expecting anything better than this! It had a fast beat with wonderful music..once again sung by Sonu Nigam! The song was the kind of romantic song. Sonu has once again brought his soothing voice into this really cool song. His voice suited the music. The english lyrics made the song even more fun to listen to and mixed in well with the hindi as well!

Falak dehkun... Zameen dehkun.... Jahaa dehkun.. Tera chehra vahi dehkun....

Har ek manzar...Tera manzar....wo kya manzar jahan tujhko nahin dehkun.....

4. Kiss Me Baby: Here he goes again!!! With another astounding song!! Where will you not find Adnan Sami on this list! When I first heard about the song.. The name gave me the feeling of Garam Masala! The song was just too good....just think that when it would come on screens it would set the whole screen on fire!!! Adnan’s voice suited the song well. So the music director I would like to say has yet..chosen wonderful singers for each song. The english lyrics went so well with the song. Made the song so hot and spicy! :D

Teri Aankhen Garam Masala...Teri baatein Garam Masala....Roop hai tera Garam Masala...Uff yeh nakhra Garam Masala...Mere dil pe...Dhadkano pe....Tune jadoo kar dalaa..

Kiss me baby...Kiss me baby...Hoth yeh tere mehak ke pyaala...

Kiss me baby....Kiss me baby...Tu hai mera Garam Masala haan....

5. Dil Sumundar: Here we find Kay Kay and Sunidhi Chauhan together once again! To be frank....Sunidhi and Kay Kay’s voice go well together and went wonderful in this song. When I first heard the song it wasnt that much into it.. But after listening to it a few times it started I started liking the music. This song also made me want to sing the song..after my friend just told me “Anusha..please let the people sing the song for once!!” Hehehe... Sunidhi as always does a decent performance but in this she was sort of different. Kay Kay was great! I loved his energy!

Dil sumundar....Dil mera dil sumundar haan....Aa duba doon tujhko dilbar....

Aa luta doon saaab kuch tujh par.... Jawani shola hai...mohabbat paani hai....Sach hai sanam zara tu jaan le....Meri bechaini ki lehar toofani hai...Kehna mera mer tu maan le....

6. Adaa (Remix): Once again the same lyrics but different sort of music! DJ Suketu has done another awesome job. The remix has a sort of fast pulse rating beat. Makes you want to dance to it!

I bet that while reading this review you all must have drank a lot of water and some of you must have had allergies as well!! Hehehe..joking! Though I do require water when your listening to these cool tracks! ;)

Thanks for reading my review! Do leave your comments and ratings! :)

+++ Getting Hotter and Hotter!!! +++
Sep 26, 2005 10:41 PM6799 Views

A never ending volume of pop-rap-techno-Turkish dance numbers! This one is about new sounds targeted for the youth! Now you get the essence of this review but there is more in ‘Garam Masala’. Pritam; the rocking music director after hits in ‘Dhoom’, ‘Chocolate’ and ‘Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena’ brings some fresh hits while Sameer assists in writing. Hey as always, there are some surprises! This one is hot, addictive and there is more!

+++ Ada by Sonu Nigam +++

SHOCKING NEWS UPDATE: ADA IS A MEGA LIFT! IT'S FROM AMR DIAB'S AMARAIN. SONG TITLE IS ANA! - 03/11/05

The beats are going strong and stronger backed by all these computer samples voices and Sonu Nigam fits perfectly in this Turkish flavour track. And yes don’t forget the English and rap parts which keep the momentum going with this catchy melody. I like this word ‘ada’. Last year, I found ‘Fanaa’ very funky. Pritam included all the club grooves targeting a clubbing audience but the track still has this Bollywood feel to it due to the tabla. Ensuring a high tempo all through till end, this one is sure to rock all charts!

+++ Ada Remix by DJ Suketu +++

DJ Suketu rocks, rocks and rocks! Aggressive grooves, uninterrupted beats and an addictive background will put this one high in charts as well. (Watch out for this word addictive, it’s repeated many times…)

+++ Chori Chori by Sukhwinder Singh, Hema Sardesai +++

SHOCKING NEWS! COPIED FROM ‘HAI RABBA’ FROM DR ZEUS, FEATURING THE VOCALS OF BALWINDER SAFRI (ESCAPE ALBUM)

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------

If this one won’t make you shake your body, then there is something wrong! A definite floor thumper with an addictive Sukhwinder Singh. His voice is so catchy that you can feel the energy when he’s singing. Bhangra-pop with a lot of guitar movements creating a never ending rhythm. However, this bhangra is a direct lift! What more can I say on that!

+++ Chori Chori by Labh Jajua (Punjabi MC) +++

Same as the above but Punjabi MC has style! Rocking and electrifying! Never put the volume down while listening to this one! However, still a copy. Pritam is taking the lead in copying these days. (Will write more on Pritam in another review)

+++ Kiss Me Baby by Adnan Sami +++

I was jumping in excitement while listing to this one. No I am not crazy but it’s just that this album is getting better and better. Adnan Sami strikes the right chord on this one like if, he is singing for his own album. It’s catchy, addictive (am addicted to this word now!) and packed with a groovy and club mix atmosphere. Adnan goes beyond his habits and even moans ‘Oumaaaaaah’. This guy is really excited and Pritam ensures quirky keyboard sounds and electronic sounds.

+++ Falak Dekhun by Sonu Nigam +++

- Lyrics by Mayur Puri -

‘Falak Dekhun’ are pleasing words really. When was the last time we got two nice words to start a song? This Sonu Nigam track is more dance oriented with once again a Turkish- Middle-East flavour but the background is techno. The energy level is not the same but it’s a quite passable number with all the electronic sounds and computerized vocals.

+++ Falak Dekhun by Udit Narayan +++

- Lyrics by Mayur Puri -

It is one of these songs I would like to sing while on a long drive with a romantic girl. The music is lovely with deepness in this melody and Udit Narayan makes me dream more about this superb track. It is one of the tracks that you can’t resist singing. The whistling, the romantic guitars and an interesting instrumentation backed by this soft voice make ‘Falak Dekhun’ a true gem. Highly recommended for music lovers!

+++ Dil Samundar by K.K., Sunidhi Chauhan +++

SHOCKING NEWS: OPENING TRACK AND TUNE PARTLY INSPIRED BY TARKAN’S 2001 SINGLE KUZU KUZU!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-----------------------------

Viju Shah had ‘Saat Samundar’ and it rocked and even now the remixes are doing well. Here we have Pritam’s version, which he has openly copied the start from Tarkan. How can he do that? He arranges the tune to suit his style and then makes the talented KK to sing that. Anyway, KK did a great job! You can feel the Turkish flavour to this one while he throws a lot of Latina guitars and electronic sounds. He excels in orchestration and pulsing sounds. A definite winner as well!

‘Garam Masala’ will sell! All songs will keep up awake and make you shake your body. With all dance numbers and funky beats, this album also brings a lot of Turkish flavour in Bollywood. The words ‘Garam Masala’ are repeated in all these tracks and the singers also performed so well. The only sad thing is about these two lifts and also melody. It's more focused on catchy rhythms and beats. If you are looking for something groovy, fizzy and trendy, pick up this one!

Hi friends,

The festive season is on! Comic movies are on a roll. This year-end has a number of rib-tickling movies lined up at the occasion of Diwali and Idd! We have 3 funny movies lined up for release in two days. On Friday, November 4, we have Home Delivery! And surprise, just a day before, on November 3, we have two other - Shaadi No. 1 and Garam Masala! Which is the day before? Yup, it is a Thursday!!!

Now while writing all this, I do realize something. That is, I am no trade analyst and this is not to inform you about the release dates of various films. Do you know what will happen if I continue to give this info while deviating from the topic itself? Three things:

  1. This review will be rated NU

  2. It will be deleted by MouthShut

  3. My ID will stand banned

So as I want neither of this to happen, I shall continue with the analysis of GARAM MASALA album! Let’s set rocking...

----------

In case you have short memory like me, let me tell you that Pritam is the same behind the duo of Jeet-Pritam, who gave some good music in Yash Chopra’s MYKSH. Then Yashraj appointed him as the solo music director for their Dhoom and the result is for all to see! His latest musical success Chocolate was widely appreciated!

Then, I don’t think the ever-writing Sameer needs any introduction from my side. Best known for romantic, soothing lyrics, he does a complete about-turn out here, and successfully delivers some punchy lines for the comic element present in the movie!

----------

You can judge what this album is to be like from the trailers itself, which, at present, showcases two handsome hunks - Akshay Kumar and John Abraham - trying to be desperate in the rocking number Adaa. This one surely does give the album a rocking start, and this one is set to be the one to burn the dance floors of the discos, and a definite hit in the parties! Sonu Nigam proves why he is considered the most versatile singer of Bollywood. The rap arrangements in between makes it all the more interesting!

DJ Suketu comes up with yet another pulse-racing remix for the same. Check out your nearby disc where this one may already be on the top list! Defy your ear-drums!!!

Adaa... Aye haaye adaa... Hosh udaye adaa... Kar de deewana...

Adaa... Jaanleva adaa... Qaatilana adaa... Maar daale naa...

Awaara yahaan dil kitna hue laapata... Adaa...

-----

Sukhwinder Singh returns to Bollywood, with Hema Sardesai this time. What would you except from them but Chori Chori, a fast-paced Punjabi-kinda track! This one needs to be aired and the effect is needed to be seen on the screen. Both the lead singers give an exceptional feel to this good track, specially Hema, who is just brilliant! Not only in the Northern region, this one’s to be successful all over India! Take my word for it!

Another version of the song in store for you. And this one for the Bhangra freaks, who will take to it whole-heartedly! Sung by Labh Jajua (Punjabi MC), it has the falvour one associates with Punjabi tracks, and it doesn’t disappoint in any way. It carries forward the good impression created by the former one! Set on..

Chori chori chori chori dil le gayi... Hayo rabba hayo rabba le gayi...

Dil mein basake menu apna banake soni sapna dikhake dil le gayi...

-----

So did you just expect rocking, funny stuff from this? Think again! You are not exactly in for a shock, but there’s a sweet, romantic number that goes by the name Falak Dekhun. The music arrangements are not very soft and soothing in the case of the one with Sonu Nigam, but it has some vigourous beats and some English lyrics in it. This makes for a good hearing!

The next number of the same by Udit Narayan is what makes a difference. A soft number, that you can hum about the whole day, and for all wannables, do make sure you lsiten to this before you write a review on ’’Ten Hindi Songs That I Would Sing For My Beloved.’’ The lyrics are the same as the former one, but Udit’s vocals does give a mature touch to this one! It’s really amazing to see such soulful melody in an album like this. I think this should sum it up in all! Karan Johar would have started the promos of his film with this number if it existed in his film! Experience the touch:

Chalakta hai palkon se, yeh kaisa nasha hai...

Nahi hosh mein koi, kya dilkash sama hai...

Tera noor chhaya hai, tera hi junoon...

O Jaane adaa, tere jaisa, nahin mumkin, kahin koi, haseen dekhun...

Falak Dekhun, zameen dekhun... ...

Har ek manzar, tera manzar, woh kya manzar jahan tujhko nahin dehoon...

-----

Back to square one. Adnan Sami on the list this time around. Check out IndiaFM News section, and you’ll find that Akki and John will be featuring in a music video to promote the movie 2-3 weeks prior to it’s release! Kiss Me Baby, the title song, is probably the one that will set the screen on fire! The small screen, that is. Having said that, I don’t find any need to talk more about this one! It will probably feature various footages from the movie while Akki and John fool around. Adnan is as efficient as ever for this track that defgr... Well, sample this.

Teri Aankhen GM, teri baatein GM, roop hai tera GM, uff ye nakhra GM...

Mere dil pe, dhadkano pe, tune jadoo kar daala...

Kiss Me Baby, Kiss Me Baby, Hoth hai tere mehak ka pyaala...

Kiss Me Baby, Kiss Me Baby, Tu Hai Mera GM haan...

  • GM = Garam Masala!

-----

Go over the rooftops and scream your heart out and declare your love for your sweetheart in the open! Sing out Dil Samundar, and let the world know what stuff you are made of! Ask your beloved to sing it with the same zest that you are, and some lesser mortals are sure to look at you with disapproving eyes! And hold your breath before I mention the singers of this one in the album... Kay Kay and Sunidhi Chauhan! The mast song of this year has arrived! Let your hair down and have a gala time with your g/f or b/f or whatever!

Dil Samundar, dil mera dil samundar haan... Aa duba doon tujhko dilbar...

Jawani shola hai, mohabbat paani hai... Sach hai sanam zara tu jaan le...

Meri bechaini ki lehar toofani hai, kehna mera mera tu maan le...

----------

Well, these were the 5, or if splitted out, the 8 songs in the album. Do you want more? If no, then quietly rate this piece and leave behind a comment or two or three or four... till infinity! You have all the right in the world to do so! If yes, then read on!

So you have decided to have more of the garam masala. KooL! But before that, I would suggest some requisites for doing so. Make sure you do satisfy each of them. Many things there are. Let’s start with the first.

# 1. Make sure that you are not allergic to hot & spicy things.

# 2. Make sure you have loads of water with you.

# 3. Make sure that you give me the credit for giving you more.

# 4. Make sure you don’t leak out the secret to Pritam.

# 5. Make sure you don’t blame me for wasting your time by this stupid thing :D

So yeh dil maange more...

Pehle jo hai usko to sunn le yaar... Uske baad ask for more!

© Aliasgar Poonawala, 2005

Spicy fare
Sep 26, 2005 07:37 PM4071 Views

After his major hit, Dhoom, chef Pritam is now back with his assortment of spices.

But beware! It may cause a severe case of indigestion. Coz, this album aint no reshmi kabab. More of hot and spicy Hyderabadi biriyani, miyaan.

Kiss me baby

The title song is hummable and extremely naughty. Good ol’ Adnan Sami is back with what sounds like Part II of “teri oonchi shaan hai maula.”Quite a peppy number but the lyrics made my eyes pop out. “Kiss me baby, tu hai mera garam masala.” Sameer procceds to equate almost every part of a woman with garam masala. Long time since I heard such lyrics (the last instance I remember is those khatiya, nindiya songs by Chi Chi and Lolo). Better not play this one if Mom and Dad are in the same room. I would rate it the Lal Mirchi of the album. Teekhi but tasty. One can only imagine the picturisation. Can I see smoke coming out of your ears, guys??

Ada

The pick of the album is Ada by Sonu Nigam. It is the elaichi of the album, giving it the much needed khushboo. Peppered with English rap lyrics, it seems to be the next chartbuster. The normal version is the chhoti elaichi and the remix version is the badi elaichi. Both immensely “dancable” (The word will appear in the Oxford dictionary, soon).

Falak dekhun

Falak dekhun has two versions. One by Sonu and the other by Udit Narayan. The tune follows the Nadeem Shravan style of music, the soft and soothing kind. (Remember Tu meri zindagi hai-Ashiqi, Bahut pyar karte hain-Saajan). Again, Sonu is a shade better than Udit. Pehla shahi jeera to doosra kala jeera. Applause for Pritam for cooking up a dish that is not his style at all.

Chori chori

Chori chori is the cinnamon. Don’t ask me why? That was the only spice left in my limited cookery knowledge. Anyway, it is a typical bhangra number that grows on you and sets your feet tapping. Just listen to this number for what it is. After all, it does not pretend to be a classical number anyway so let us not look at it from that angle.

Dil Samandar

After all this cooking, you want to cool off, right? Care for a swim? No need to search for a swimming pool. “Dil Samandar, aa duba doon tujhe dil ke andar.,” KK offers gallantly. Accompanied by Sunidhi (and some great percussion), this is the haldi of the album. Adds that much need variety and colour to the album.

Priyan’s movies were never known for their musical greatness, the best one out of his camp was Virasat. None of the others were spicy enough to leave a lingering taste on the music lover’s palette. This one is also no better; except that when you are chewing it you enjoy the flavour. Then you spit it out, like lavang.
