The Gandhi Smriti formerly known as Birla House is located at 5 Tees January Marg, a couple of kilometers from the Connaught Place, one of the Central Business District's of Delhi. Here Mahatma Gandhi had spent his last 144 days, before his assassination. Visitors can see the place on the grounds where he was shot while had his nightly public walk. Gandhi was shot during his prayers at the place where Martyr's Clumn in now placed. It's a great place to know about The Father of Nation.
The house and museum are surrounded by large grounds. You will remove your shoes if you wish to visit the place Gandhiji wa shot. The building & gardens themselves are lovely footstep path is very poignant
Gandhi Smriti Museum at Delhi is the place to remember the most memorable man of INDIA. This is the plance where Gandhi ji spent his life. this is the place of Gandhi ji's Martyrdom. This the best place which is to be visited to know about Gandhi JI and his early life. there are many things available which were used by Gandhi ji.
This place is very silent and very peace. There is always a guide to tell us every thing about Gandhi Ji's life and his early life. there are a lot of pictures of Gandhi Ji's. There is a large collection of photographs with a few personal belongings and a series of small dolls houses and dolls illustrating Gandhiji's life. This is the main attraction of this museum. the one of the main attraction of this place is the Multi media show which is also held between 1 pm to 1:30 pm. the timing of museum are 10:00 to 5:00. Monday close. Gandhi Ji used to come here for evening prayers. There is a pillar outside the house that contains the symbol of SWASTIKA. and the same pillar contains the sanskrit symbol for meditation sound ommm.
I enjoyed this place alot. and I would suggest this place to be visited by everyone to know the life of the "Father of Nation", BAPU, (Mahatma this name was given to him by R.N. Tagore.) Everyone should go there once or twice in his/her life. Thumbs up for this place.:-)
