Flamme Bois Bistro, Sector 7 C, Chandigarh

We went there for our anniversary dinner. Since it was a surprise for my husband, I had already made a reservation. In fact, I would suggest everyone to go for a prior reservation since this is one of the finest dining spaces around the city and you need to be really lucky to get one without prior booking. Trust me, I had been through this twice.

Started off with the Sweet chilli chicken wings and homemade chicken croquettes, we moved on to order Cottage cheese creole style, Pan Grilled Fish, Tuscany Fish and the in-house Chef’s special, Flamme Bois Risotto. All of it was cooked so perfect and tasted truly delicious. To finish our meal with a sweet delight, we went with the chef’s recommendation which were the Molten Lava Cake with vanilla ice-cream and baked yogurt with blueberry topping. My husband simply loved it all and it will always remain one of our most special anniversary dates.

About the prices, it is decent for the ambiance and the quality of food you get over here. Hence, do give it a try and I’m sure you’ll come back here again.

To start with, as the name suggests, this place is a perfect Bistro! The ambiance comes across as a place to chill with friends, a perfect place to spend the afternoon. The staff is courteous, and the food is great. We ordered mocktails which tasted superb. One of us ordered a soup and even that was delicious.

Post that, we had spaghetti carbonara and Pita with hummus and lamb. The pasta was a bit too bland with too much pepper, but the Pita Hummus was a hit! It tasted great and I loved it. We also ordered the Greek salad that was pretty awesome and chicken escalopes that was something new we tried, but was amazing.

To top it, we had the blueberry baked yogurt and it was crazily delicious

Once you enter the unassuming restaurant, you'll be pleasantly taken aback by it's warm plush ivory decor, glass divide and a provision for smokers. The last couple of visits left us charmed by a few exquisite dishes. What's heartening is that their vegetarian segment does not disappoint in terms of flavours or variety.

We wanted to explore vegetarian fare and ordered French onion soup and Greek Vegetable soup with egg drops. Soups are served uniquely in a saucer instead of the regular bowl, which was quite refreshing. While the Greek soup with veg cubes tasted great and had a lovely consistency, the French onion soup left us craving for more.

Their portions suffice for a person and can even be shared depending on your dinner appetite. While the service was slightly laid-back and serviettes were missing at the table, I'll definitely revisit for the good selection and sumptuous food with a difference.
