INTRODUCTION
There had been a lot of time after I wrote about Bollywood. This time I am going back to the year 2000 which witnessed some huge disasters - some of them rather expected due to some poor screenplay as well as worse performance by the crew.....writing about the worst is better than writing about the best in Bollywood even if there has been no review on this topic so far.....
1) CHAL MERA BHAI
Producer: Nitin Manmohan
Director : David Dhawan
Music: Anand Milind
Starring: Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor, Sahbaz Khan etc
Something like a comedy from David Dhawan starring two actors with some muscles and one of the worst actresses - Karishma Kapoor who seems to be trying to be cute and sweet in the movie, but is really looking very much worse. She is experienced in the screen, but seems to be acting even worse than a new comer. This movie surely is not worth seeing as it has a lots of cons and no pros. The script is one of the worst ever in Bollywood history. Two brothers who love each other very much falls in love with the same girl and one of them steps out of the way of the other. I remember 'Saajan' movie with almost the same story. A must not see movie for sure.....
2) TERA JADOO CHAL GAYA
Producer : Vashu Bhagnani
Director: A. Muthu
Music: Ismail Darbar
Starring: Abhishek Bachchan, Kirti Reddy, Paresh Rawal, Johny Lever, Kadar Khan etc
The story opens with Pooja (Kirti Reddy), who is the assistant director (Who is the stupid who made this idiot an assistant director? Who is crazy enough to do that?) for Mr. Oberoi's (Kadar Khan) advertising agency. She goes to Agra to attend a friend's wedding and meets Kabir (Abhishek Bachan) who is a videographer. Kabir just got crashed on her beauty (How could he?). She is forced to lie to Oberoi that she went for her engagement one day as a reason for coming late to save her job. This is the beginning of about three hours of crap, giving endless head aches. Abhishek should not have chosen a movie like this when his career is just blooming.....
3) BETI NO:1
Producer: Raajiv Kumar
Director: T. Rama Rao
Music: Viju Shah
Starring: Govinda, Rambha, Aroona Irani, Johnny Lever etc
This movie is really a remake of the Malayalam movie 'Adyathe Kanmani' starring Jayaram which was a hit in Kerala, but the remake failed to create impact. The movie shows a family consisting of the head of the household, the mother Durga Devi (Aroona Irani), her submissive husband Dashrath (Prem Chopra), her father, her three sons, wimpy Ram (Ashok Saraf), whiny Laxman (Laxmikant Berde), and Bharat (Govinda) and wives of the first two sons and a lot of grand daughters, all of whom she refuses to accept as part of her family. She wants no female in the family. She wants sons, but all her sons have daughters. The movie doesn't seems to be suitable for Bollywood.
4) KRODH
Producer: Ashok Honda
Director: Ashok Honda
Music: Anand-Milind
Starring: Sunil Shetty, Rambha, Kader Khan, Apoorva Agnihotri, Johnny Lever etc
Another remake from a Malayalam movie 'Hitler' starring Mammootty which was also a hit in Kerala, but failed to create any impact in Bollywood. Karan (Sunil Shetty) is the overprotective brother of his five young sisters (those who play them seems to have come only for revealing). He beats up any guy who even looks at her sisters. He also want Raj (Apoorva Agnihotri) and Prem (Johnny Lever) to marry two of his sisters. Then comes some other characters with villains leading to another emotional, action filled romantic black mail. Save yourselves from the Krodh or be prepared to waste you time.....
5) KHILADI 420
Producer: Keshu
Director: Neeraj Vohra
Music: Sanjeev Darshan
Starring: Akshay Kumar, Mahima Chaudhary, Antra Mali, Alok Nath, Mukesh Rishi etc
I am so sad that I had the 'prestigious' opportunity to see the worst one of the Khiladi series and one of the worst in the filmography of Akshay Kumar. It contains no magic or Khiladi, Sabse Bada Khiladi or Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi. Ritu Bhardwaj (Mahima Chaudhary) is the daughter of the rich industrialist Shyam Parsad Bhardwaj (Alok Nath). Ritu gets married to Dev (Akshay Kumar) who with his girlfriend Monica (Antra Mali) has planned to kill her and get hold of her money. Meanwhile Shyam Parsad is killed by Dev. But after knowing the reality, she kills him and then comes Dev's twin brother who has the exact opposite behaviour. The action in this action movie looks like junk. If you need some pain in the neck, you are welcome to see this master 'piece' resting in pieces.
