Fambong La Wildlife Sanctuary, Gangtok

Fambong La Wildlife Sanctuary at Gangtok in the State of Sikkim is one of the most beautiful wildlife sanctuaries as it is surrounded by beautiful high mountains and natural greenery all around the place. This sanctuary is pretty big in area and is worth to explore.

I visited this sanctuary in the year 2007 after clearing my CA Intermediate examinations with my family in the month of February. The sanctuary is scattered over a large area with large number of animal and spices to witness.

In animals, you can see deer, wild buffalo, jackal, fox and monkeys with few birds like white owl, black pigeon, wild crow, kingfisher, humming bird etc. Few butterflies are also there. The place is purely like a jungle which is bounded by boundaries for the safety of visitors. It is managed under the tourism department of the State.

The sanctuary is so much spacious in area that people also hang out here as a picnic spot place but I want to notify you that throwing waste and shouting in the sanctuary is punishable which may lead to imprisonment as well. There are forest officers also as security purpose. This sanctuary is worth to explore with your family. Entry fees are also cheap. However, you need to take a special permit slip which is authorized by Government under army administration. You can also enjoy some shopping of natural herbs, flowers and fruits in the nearby place of the sanctuary.
