Instead of vegetarian gave me chicken. Gate agents and some flight attendants were downright racists towards Indians who made up most of the passengers. Indians should boycott this airline for its racist attitude. From Abu Dhabi fro Bangalore, there was not one Indian crew member.


Most airlines have at least 1 or 2 crew members from country of departure and country of arrival. Horrible, horrible experience.

I had very bad experience with the Etihad airlines while I was going to India from USA and even in my return trip. First they lost my luggage and got my bags after 3 days with broken bags and even lost some stuff and in my return ticket from India to USA they just canceled it without my knowledge.


They did not even informed me and re-booked it after two days. I got absents in my school due to cancellation and even after all this no one is ready to take the responsibility and not giving me proper answers.


Its worst experience ever I had in my life...I will not recommend or prefer this airlines in future.

I recently tried to book flights on Etihad's website.  The website said that there was a problem with the transaction and that I can be assured no charges were made.  I attempted to book the next day and the same problem occurred, so I kept trying a few more times.  Then I tried to book on another website and I was declined because my credit card was maxed out!!


I called Mastercard and they told me that Etihad charged me over $6000!  They told me that I must contact Etihad to drop the charges. I tried calling Etihad in Chicago, Toronto, London and New York, but every system hung up on me before I got human contact.  Is Etihad a reliable company?  I think not.  I will be posting this anywhere this appears on the internet where I find the name Etihad.  Do not trust this company.

Since they teamed up with flights coming from Australia, their flights became like crowded city buses. Also, there is always something wrong when making a booking, either the credit card is not accepted, or you need to visit the Etihad office to confirm you are the owner of the credit card.


I would surely rate them the same way I would rate a low cost airline, which is quite unfortunate because when they started they were really excellent, but after all, it's not too difficult to achieve excellent for a short while, the real challenge is to remain excellent!

I was at the Abu Dhabi Airport on Friday 14th December 2012 for my connecting flight Astana - Abu Dhabi - Delhi. I missed my Delhi flight as no announcement was made and although I reached the gate 30 min prior to departure, I was denied entry.


This has lead to waste of time, energy and money , as I had to buy another airline ticket to go to Delhi. I was left helpless at Abu Dhabi airport without any support from the staff.I strongly protest this injustice and unfair practice by Etihad.

Called their customer care on 23rd and 24th of January as wanted to change date of flight. Was both times kept on hold in excess of 20 minutes.Customer care person Mr Anil was quite rude and just gave me Ahmedabad address without providing any resolution.


I believe customer care is suppose to help resolve the problem to not aggravate it. Customer care is always contacted so that we can get resolution without having to go to their office and waste precious time. Hoping this review will make them realize the same and they help me change flight dates without any delay.

Me and my wife recently flew Etihad airways from Mumbai to JFK and back. On the day of our departure JFK airport had to be shutdown in the aftermath of super storm sandy. The airline staff at mumbai airport, without a fuss, provided us with accomodation at the Lalit hotel. The rescheduled flight next day was hassle free. The flight stewards were warm and hospitable. The inflight entertainment and food provided was top class. The baggage allowance provided was second to none.


Only disappointing I noticed at Mumbai airport was a couple of foreigners who were in the que for economy check in were conveniently asked by the airline staff and check in from the business class counters which were then empty. I thought this was appalling. Shouldn't we be giving preference, if not equal treatment to our own countrymen? I dont think this can happen anywhere else in the world. Time to wake up and take some action.

The worst possible customer service staft on plane earth they have at Chicago Ohare International Airport. Hope less Airline. Will never travel in Etihad for a life time.

We just took etihad for our last trip from Geneva to Seoul and had a very poor experience. The plane was brand new and the service standard but far from the exceptional they promote.


What was howver very bad is the lack of communication and help when our plane back was delayed. We ended up missing our connection in Abu Dhabi ( the last airport in the world where you want to spend time unless you fancy 5 hours in a McDonald type environment). Any other decent airline will offer access to the lounge or hotel if you are delayed by more than 6 hours in your journey.


Definitely the last time we travelled with them.

All of their agents at O'Hare airport in Chicago are neglect. They are terrible with no smiles on faces, on her way back to the States on DXB airport they gave my daughter the hell of a time. Told her she cannot get on aircraft because she doesn't carry my credit card, listen to that. They want her to carry MY CREDIT card. They are very obnoxious, terrible and idiots.


Trust me, don't give them your business, and you will regret if you do.

My wife and I have thoroughly enjoyed our flight from Dubai to Kuala Lumpur on Etihad with a day spent in Dubai which we enjoy every time we stop or visit. I will not hesitate to make another booking to anywhere on Etihad. At the end of the day airlines are a mixer of people and feeling, they have their ups and downs, flight is nothing but a mean to travel from one place to the next and Etihad has basically new fleet of those.

Our family flew with Etihad in 2010 and was surprised by the wonderful experience and excellent customer service. When it came to booking the next flight to India for my husband, the only airline we looked at was Etihad. I should have looked at others!!!


It started with the booking which was a nightmare. It took over 2 hours to book the ticket through the Etihad US website. I attempted to purchase the ticket 6 times before my transaction was finally processed. I contacted the ticketing center at Etihad while I was attempting to purchase the ticket and the agent walked me through the process online three of the six times. He had no explanation for why I was having so many issues.


I had to contact my credit card company after each failure to make sure that the transaction did not go through and found out each time that no attempt to submit a payment had been made. When the purchase was finally made I was relieved and done.


I was surprised to find on my credit card statement that I was assessed an international transaction fee because my credit card was routed through Abu Dhabi not within the United States. At no time during my 30 minute conversation with the ticketing agent or on the website did it state that the payment was being processed outside the US.M


y next surprise came when 6 days before my husband's departure I reviewed the email I received to see that the title was listed as Ms. instead of Mr. Thinking this would just be a minor correction and not a big deal, I went online to find the customer service number. I contacted the Chicago ticketing office number to only be place on hold for 20 minutes and end up speaking with someone in Mumbai India.


I explained to the sales agent that I had great difficulty booking the ticket and just now reviewed the email that was sent to me and found an error with the title. I asked if he could please change the title from Ms. to Mr. He stated that he could, but asked if I would hold for one minute. When he returned to the line I received a shock. He stated that I would need to pay $75.00 US dollars to change the name on the booking.


I asked if he as joking. He stated that it was company policy to charge the customer a fee. I asked him why I was being charged such an outrageous fee to change one letter. I explained that I was not changing the name just changing the title from Ms. to Mr.


He said that the policy was for security reasons and that if I wished to make the change I would be required to pay the fee. I explained to the agent the difficulties I had while attempting to book the original flight and asked if there was anyway the fee could be waived.


He stated again that it was the policy of Etihad to charge the customer the fee when any change the name was being made. I ended up speaking with three additional supervisors and all provided the same excuses - company policy, security, or processing fee. All excuses are total lies.


For security reasons the name should be correct and it was just the title was off my one letter, company policies are meant to be adjusted on a case per case basis, and a processing fee for sending a free email to me for an e-ticket is bogus.


So Etihad cares more about collecting money than being fair to the customer. We do not plan on flying this airline again.

I had a very very bad experience with Etihad. The first experience was while booking the tickets. When I tried booking the ticket from JFK to MAA, the website encountered errors while processing my payment. My credit card was debited with the fee but I was not able to get the ticket confirmed.


The page showed an error message. This happened four times in a span of two days and my credit limit exceeded and my credit card was blocked. I had no other option but to call the booking office to book the ticket. I did the same and the executives booked the ticket on behalf of me with the details of my debit card. The fare was higher than the other airlines but I booked the ticket thinking the service will be better in Etihad. But this was disputed in the other incidents. My first shocker came when I received my bank statement. There was an international transaction fee of $39 (USD) charged for the booking. I called up the customer care number many times they haven't come with an answer even after 90 days I booked the ticket.


Thee second shocker came when I boarded the flight. They charged $137 USD for a luggage which was under 50 pounds but they said the size was large. But my luggage was a carton box which is very thin and 40 inches in diagonal length. The worst part was I checked with the customer care the previous day and they never mentioned about this. They only told me that the weight should not exceed 50 pounds. The third shocker came inside the flight. The flight departed JFK around 10:30 PM and the flight attendants were so lethargic that I kept on asking them for some food.


They kept on saying that its coming. It didn't come and it was paining my stomach due to hunger. I slept with the hunger and tiredness. Finally they woke me around 1:30 AM for food. I don't know what kind of service it is. I owed that I will never ever travel in Etihad and also advised few of my friends due to their very pathetic service and attitude.  Please don't get into the trap of Etihad with their star rating.

BETTER ON A CAMEL- NEVER AGAIN ETIHAD

I travelled on Flight EY 020 and connected with EY 418 in ABU DHABI Aug 13/14. Flight EY was boarded almost an hour before departure. The outside temperature was 97 degrees and yet the air-conditioning system in the plane was switched off creating a health hazard. My pleas were met without response.I requested that the Capt be informed of the health hazard that was being created and demanded that I speak to the Capt but this request too was ignored.


Capt Zaki was totally unresponsive and did not even have the courtesy to explain let alone apologize for his atrocious behavior. He is unfit to fly a plane given his lack of concern for passenger health safety.  After this incident I am inclined to fly your airline given its disregard for passenger safety and comfort.  I believe a full explanation of the steps to discipline Zaki who is clearly unfit to fly a plane is due.

• On our flight from Chicago We had ordered VGML instead we were provided western non-veg junk FOOD. Even after ordering VGML do they think they can go ahead and give us WESTERN NON-VEG FOOD? Does everybody in the world eats beef, pork, chicken, fish and eggs only? On complaining instead of telling sorry flight attendant started telling oh you must have changed seats. We told no we have not. When we insisted that our food be given They told eat or go to hell.


• When I asked water from an attendant he scolded me and abused me. I immediately filed a complaint but instead of telling sorry only the staff head appolized while this black attendant again abused me when he came to me to take headphones back. Huh? Later I discovered it was because they have this unwritten POLICY of SERVING only believers of ISLAM


• Entertainment system didn't work ON CONNECTIG FLIGHT. Instead of offering other empty seats the attendant started harasssing me in most uncivilized manner telling oh I am not engineer. Manage yourself. Read some magazine you have brought or go to hell


• On connecting etihad flight same story they gave me JUNK NON VEG FOOD and frowned at me for asking Vegetarian food


• On complaining to their quality control department and feedback team I WAS HARASSED WITH THREATS AND CALLS BY THEIR GM IMRAN AND THE CONCERNED FLIGHT ATTENDANTS. SIX MONTHS THEY HARASSED ME. ULTIMATELY I TOLD THEM I WILL FILE POLICE COMPLAINT IF YOU CONTINUE SENDING ME MAILS AND CALLING ME AND ABUSING ME OR DISTURBING ME. ONLY AFTER THEN THEY STOPPED AND OFFERED ME FEW MILES AS COMPENSATION FOR SIX MONTHS OF HARSSMENT:-( THAT TOO AFTER MY UNCLE WHO IS POLICE OFFICER PICKED UP THEIR ABUSIVE PHONES. IT WAS BETTER IF WOULD HAVE JUST FORGOTTEN RATHER THAN COMPLAINING TO THEIR FEEDBACK DEPARTMENT.


SO NO ESCALATION OR COMPLAINING WILL HELP EXCEPT IF YOU WANT TO EARN LITTLE MILES AND ARE REDY TO SUFFER ABUSES FOR IT


SIMPLY AVOID THE AIRLINES IN ALL TOTALITY FOR YOUR SAFETY

My family and I flew from Chicargo to Abu Dhabi. The hostess wanted usto eat non vegertarian food which was horrible my children never ate for a 13 hour flight. the hostess just wanted to shove the vegertain food down our throats. I refused. The airline food is horrible not every body eats Easten food, a sandwich would have been better. The hostess are so short they can't reach to close the lockers. They are arrogant rude.


I will think thrice to fly with Ehithad carry your own food if possible.Never again not a no1 airline

No food! Seats won't go back! Fighting frowning attendants.! Racial discrimination! Refusal to give service! Entertainment system not working! If you are masochist please book your ticket with Etihad!!


Horrible service! I had ordered VGML and they gave me non-veg food telling it is  VGML from abu dhabi ;-)


Upon arguing for 10 minutes they said for us  this is VGML :-))


When complained to their feedback office later on they apologized telling that It was really non-vegetarian as they couldn't deliver  VGML because by mistake VGML meal went to other flight :-)


Fine! After 25 days I took one more flight from London of Etihaad and  I was harassed racially because they only serve MUSLIM POPULATION or those who  follow ISLAM. The steward refused to serve water to me but served 3 times water  tea and cold drink to people following islam opposite to me traveling by same  class


On third flight from NYC after 2 months seats didn't go back, in-spite  of many complaints their entertainment system didn't function


Three chances  and I am fed up


I have vowed not to travel by it any day and asked people  around me to avoid THE discrimination, awful service, awful flights and HELL  CALLED ETIHAD

MAN-ABU-JED-ABU-MAN return. when we reached JED the Umrah passengers were sent to the Hajj terminal and their luggage to the international terminal, we had to wait 3 hours on the hajj terminal, there was nobody on the airport that could help us no support from Etihad at all. Return flight was a shambles to.


My advice is if you’re going to Mecca to perform Umrah or hajj don’t travel with Etihad. Boarding at JED was ok as they allowed us to take one zam zam gallon free with each ticket, once we reached ABU we did a 4 day stop over, when we boarded at ABU to go to MAN our final destination, Etihad said that they can’t put the water on and we will have to weigh the water with our cases which meant we went over 10kg and ended up paying £150 as they charged us £15 per kg.


When asked why they have a different policy in different country the customer service advisor couldn’t answer the question. If you have a Umrah or hajj visa airlines should let on free zam zam water (most airlines do even non-Muslim airlines shame on Etihad). I will never fly with Etihad they don’t look after the customer (We make sure that you get all the support you may require.*) This is a lie. Etihad don’t care about the customers forget supporting them, the seats are very tight the staff in the airport especially in JED and DUB are very rude, the staff are lacking customer service skills. Have travailed with Emirates they look after the customer as well as compromise. Etihad needs to improve dramatically.
