Very rude staff of Etihad Airlines at Ahmedabad Airport. Inflight staff was good.


Management of Etihad Airlines should take a random feedback from the customers who are travelling from Ahmedabad Airport. This staff humiliates to passengers. This feedback is latest when my Daughter was traveling thru this Airlines on 29.12.2023 thru EV 285 Flight( Morning 5 Am). If you want some more feedback you can check from the passengers who were travelling in this flights. Majority of the passengers in this flight were students who were going for there studies for January 2024 intake.

My experience with Etihad Airways, particularly at the check-in counter with Imran, was regrettably disappointing. Imran exhibited a concerning lack of flexibility and subjected me to the unnecessary inconvenience of weighing my handbag, an unusual and unwarranted practice in my extensive flying history. Moreover, the ordeal continued as he insisted on charging more for baggage fees than seemed justified, consistently rejecting the option to pay for an extra piece of luggage and instead emphasizing additional kilos.


As a frequent flyer, my first encounter with Etihad left a lasting negative impression. Imran's meticulous scrutiny of grams, seemingly aimed at extracting every possible fee, was both frustrating and unprecedented in my travels. Unfortunately, this experience has left me with a strong reluctance to choose Etihad Airways for future flights. The emphasis on financial gains over customer service has significantly diminished my confidence in the airline.


Used to be a good one

Etihad used to be worthy the more money you spent for flights. Now it's just more expensive. On board food has lost quality and quantity, films lag - you miss dialogs-, cabin crew less nice than used to be, and they don't offer any more voucher for long stay over at Abu Dhabi (8 hours in my case) . Save your money, goes with a cheaper carrier.

While travelling via Etihad i was characterised by Mercy Mushinga She was so prejudice towords me because of my ethnicity, she even looked down open me because of my racial background. I was threaten when I tried to board my flight, Mercy Mushinga took my boarding pass of me in a hostile manner, threatening me I was going miss my flight and she would make sure of it and called the airport Police on me. WE FLEW FROM SINGAPORE TO ROME AND ROME TO ABU DAHBI AND HOME TO MELBOURNE. IT WAS NOT ONE FLIGHT BUT ALL FLIGHTS NO SERVICE IN BUSINESS CLASS. FOOD ONE MEAL ONLY REQUESTED GF AND DAIRY FREE OPTIONS THEY BOUGHT ONE ONLY COD SLOSHED IN WHITE SAUCE WHICH NEITHER I NOR MY HUSBAND COULD EAT, BREAKFAST NOTHING BUT FROZEN FRUIT SALAD TOTAL ICE! I ASKED AS THERE WERE 3 DIFFERENT PLANES HOW TO MAKE SEAT INTO A BED THE ATTENDANT WAS RUDE AND UNRESPONSIVE. STEWART SAID AT BEGINNING OF FLIGHT SHE WOULD BE OUR REPRESENTATIVE NEVER SAW AGAIN. SO PAYING TOP DOLLAR FOR NO FOOD NO SERVICE AND RUDE STAFF. Horrible airline

The most horrible airline I have ever dealt with. My booking is from NY to Vietnam. Spent over 2hrs at the ticketing desk because a visa was required in order for a boarding pass to be issued for a layover in India. NO where was I informed I needed a visa to enter India when my final destination is Vietnam. Spent 2 hrs on the phone with Etihad customer service who cannot confirm I need a visa and will not issue me my refund. Never ever will I recommend Etihad Airways. Google Consulate General of India and still confirms no visa is required. From customer service to ticketing desk to the agents.. no one is helpful nor care to confirm the "policies of traveling" to India. Never ever travel with a layover to India.. no visa on arrival no rush visa.. I'm stuck buying another flight!!!


Unresolved complaint for 2 months

Have raised a complaint for 2 months now with no progress or updates while it was supposed to be resolved in 14 days. The messenger customer service team hesitates to escalate higher even after multiple requests. Absolutely poor service. No accountability to investigate complaints.

We won with Etihad in court. Etihad representative refused my wife to board flight Munich-Abu Dhabi-Singapore claiming she has no visa. In fact her national passport allows to enter Singapore without visa. We had to book another flights on spot with own funds to avoid loosing everything planned for long holidays in Asia. Etihad representative was not listening to us, not willing to help, only shouting and offending us verbally. On way back they destroyed our luggage. Customer support was terrible and they were not willing to cooperate. We won lawsuit in small claims procedure and they have to reimburse us full price of additional tickets and compensate financialy our lost time and stress. Never again.

With all due respect, we would have liked this case to be handled by a customer service representative with compassion and co-operation to a customer's unforeseen circumstance.(funny enough you are sat there to represent customers and it is not called an'employer money saving representative') My husband paid £635.66 and after canceling his ticket, received £40.30 as a refund in February.


We would hardly call this a refund!


So the rich Etihad Airways represented by an employee is stating that if the wife was dead, there would have been a full refund, but a medical condition is hardly any reason to RETURN the money paid by the customer.


That makes sense.


Hope you have a wonderful life and you would get the money taken from us through employee benefits or something.


Please do not waste your time in a response to state that'there is nothing we can do, this is our policy!' sure it is.

Etihad customer care has left us with no choice but to write about our unpleasant experience with them on various platforms and situations.


We recently booked a return journey with them from JFK to New Delhi from 21st of April and return journey on 5th of May with our infant daughter. As we live in Charlotte our connecting flight was from Charlotte to JFK booked with American Airlines but due to technical issues our AA flight couldn’t take off and we had to take the next AA flight which was scheduled after two hours from original flight time. While waiting for our AA flight from Charlotte to JFK we informed Etihad that we will most likely miss our flight from JFK to DEL and requested them to provide any alternatives they can. (Meaning they were aware of our situation of not being able to take the flight from JFK).


On reaching JFK airport we rushed to the Etihad counter to seek help but the counter was already closed even though the flight didn't depart. We were then asked by JFK authorities to go to another terminal for AA counter but from there we were sent back to the same terminal for Etihad customer service as the counters were closed. We were doing this in the late night with our daughter and as there was no other place for us to go we looked for the nearest best hotel option to spend the night (we spent around $350 there) and also looked for another flight option as we had to reach India for a family wedding.


As soon as we reached the hotel, I put my daughter to bed and my husband was on call with Etihad customer care and also American Airlines to look for the best options to reach India. There was also a time when we were in conference calls with AA and Etihad Airlines. I am mentioning these details just to explain that Etihad was aware of our situation before missing our flight from JFK and also we were in touch with customer care after we missed our flight to India. The next best option from Etihad was not matching our time schedule and was only delaying our arrival to India therefore we took the first morning flight with a different carrier. Overall our first leg of the journey had cost us heavy money.


Now, as we are preparing to take our return flight we found that ETIHAD HAS CANCELED OUR RETURN FLIGHT WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION and also no money was credited to our account for cancellation. Again we connected with customer care and as expected we were not helped and instead the customer care team asked us to purchase new tickets.


This experience has been a nightmare for our family. We expect IMMEDIATE resolution in this matter as we are stuck in DEL and are not able to return to the US.


Worse than low fare airline

Company is worse than low fare airline, although the tickets are very expensive. to get in touch with their customer service is a great hustle, the quality of service is really bad and to change booking on website is almost impossible. Even if I booked a changeable ticket, after several hours waiting, I still can't change it unless I pay service fee, and change destination and pay for all this, although flight are possible to book if I will purchase new ticket. service fee have to be paid cause I had to ask them for support and didn't change it on website, which is anyway not possible to do.

If you want to lose your money, time and nerves, then buy tickets to Etihad!I have a contract of carriage with Etihad Airways, confirmed by the tickets purchased in July in the amount of 3 pieces.For these tickets, Etihad Airways debited my account twice (the amount was debited from my card, I did not receive tickets.) in the amount of $ +++++ and the same amount for the second set. After contacting Etihad Airways support on Instagram, the agent notified me that an internal error (soft error) had occurred and I had to purchase tickets again), as a result of which I purchased a second set of tickets for $ +++++ again.


On the same day, I filed a complaint with the Etihad Airways support team on Instagram with a request for a refund for tickets.The agent confirmed that the refund for tickets by code has been made.


To date, no money has been received for the tickets.The representative offices do not work, only the customer support service is on the phone and does not take any action and does not provide updates on my complaint, does not announce the timing of the return of money.At the request of the representative of Etihad Airways, I sent all the requested documents to ccXXXX@etihad.ae.I didn't get any response other than an auto-reply.This is a fraud.!!! They asked me to wait, notified me that they have applied to the department and so on.No one has filed anything. They just did nothing. Etihad just stole my money.!!! You take a risk when purchasing tickets from Etihad.It is better to pay for tickets of a reliable airline company!

I recently came back from amsterdam to delhi via abu dhabi with my wife and this was our first time flying with Etihad airlines


For a 3.5 kg extra weight, they asked us to pay 335 euro that is equivalent to 31500 INR money or go back in a queue and rearrange and comeback!!


Ground Staff was very arrogant and rude on requesting him that we dont have a cabin bag with us so he can adjust this extra kg with that he told us to [either throw away your good or pay us this money ] which was very disappointing


Suprisingly we agree to pay extra money but then they told us to whether pay it by credit card or throw away your valuable


As the airline just dont accept cash payment or debit card payment


We didnt understand if they are charging heaps amount of money then why cant they accept cash or debit card plus why is the customer going to throw away their valuable only because of this foolish airline doesnt accept cash or debit card


What I have realized is that Etihad do not care about their passengers , they’ll treat you as second class citizens . I will advise anyone planning to travel by this airline , to avoid them at all cost for your own good , they can ruin your plans and won’t even accept any responsibility for their actions .


Etihad flight attendant A Karionova hate speech

Yesterday my friend told me about a scandalous Instagram story of an Etihad flight attendant Anastasiia Karionova in which she offended transgender people. I DMed Etihad and filed an official complaint which I am posting below.


There was no reaction to my complaint on the part of Etihad team. Nobody felt obliged to follow up with my message and simply say "we are sorry". The only thing they told me is that they would redirect my message to the proper department. It seems that Etihad Airways promote hate speech and discrimination.


I used to fly with them a lot, not any more. My message which I sent to Etihad on Instagram yesterday: "Hello. I am a transgender woman and at the same time I used to be a regular flyer with your company. I said "I used to be" because I will never ever set my foot on board of your plane. It is because today(14.11.2022) I became a victim of a blatant discrimination performed by one of your flight attendants whose name is Nastya Karionova(@karionova_nastya). One of my friends sent me a print screen in which Ms Nastya is offending transgender people like myself and my friend, the one who sent me this print screen. The whole hate speech is available on her Instagram stories of which I have a print screen that I am enclosing in this message. One person asked Ms Nastya on her Instagram if she is a transgender person. Every civilized person would reply yes or no to such a question, no matter how odd it may sound, however Ms Nastya said simply'I am normal' adding a lot of laughing emojis. The implication is self-explanatory - Ms Nastya wanted to imply that transgender people are NOT NORMAL. How is it possible that a prestigious airline like Etihad, in the XXI century, indulges in such a primitive and uncivilized transgender people shaming? I am a transgender person and I can assure you, I do feel NORMAL. I am an educated person(I work as a journalist in my country) with a lot of interests and hobbies. Never have I met with such a disgusting discrimination like the one I experienced today on the Instagram of this Etihad cabin crew. I am going to describe this incident in the newspaper in which I am working as a journalist. It will be a good warning to educated and sensitive people to avoid your airline.


I cannot imagine that a person responsible for cabin crew training for Etihad could have omitted such a crucial topic as tolerance against the minorities to which transgender people belong. I will not tolerate bullying and trolling of myself and other transgender people by Ms Nastya Karionova. The fact that she is a woman does not make her more "normal" than transgender people. We are not freaks.


We are sensitive living beings and we did not deserve that abuse. Summing up, I will never fly by Etihad again and I will surely tell all my friends and readers to avoid Etihad. As as journalist, I would like to ask you several questions: 1. What kind of people do you hire to represent your airline and do those people undergo any training in which such values as respect to other people are promoted?


2.How is it possible that a person responsible for your cabin crew training is not aware what Etihad flight attendants are writing on their Instagrams which are visible to all passengers like me?




  1. How is it possible that a person responsible for your cabin crew training does not know the basics of psychology to notice immediately that Ms Nastya should not take up any profession which involves customer service?




I had a completely different vision of your company and the values that your company represents. I was quite amused to read Etihad flight attendant job description on your official website. It says there that your crew aspires to "surpass your guests' expectations".


And yes, indeed, your flight attendant, Ms Nastya, has surpassed my worst expectations today. Congratulations. "


P.S. Having no follow up from Etihad, I decided to take a quick look at other stories which Nastya Karionova posts on her Instagram.


To my surprise, I have discovered more outrageous and scandalous posts.




  1. She is filming random Jewish people on the street without their consent and gives unintelligent and unprofessional comments below on the price of the hat that a religious Jewish man is wearing. I personally wouldn't like to be filmed in public by a flight attendant and then end up on her Instagram story. Does this flight attendant know that such behavior is illegal?




2.Another Instagram story from Israel starring with her fellow cabin crew in which we can read such gems about "deleiting"(original ortography.) "all the pics with bare belly, booty and such things". I have always thought that flight attendants must have at least secondary school education and do those characters really have any education?




  1. Oman trip where Anastasiia Karionova boasts about "breaking all the rules" and thanks her "criminal friend"(what the heck?. I have always thought that cabin crew are people whose main priority is respecting the rules and not breaking them - I have never heard of a cabin crew who does not obey the law!




I am also creeped out to hear that a flight attendant has "criminal friends".


I won't comment on Ms Nastya's command of English, it is below any standard. I don't think that in case of emergency, Miss Karionova could understand any commands. What a shame, Etihad.

Terrible customer service! Do not fly with them!


I'm not big on leaving reviews or complaints but this time I will.


My 8year old son and I missed our flight connection due to one of their flight attendants getting insured on board. I tried to ring the hotline from the airport for hours (it being after 8pm there was no staff left at Syney airport). 10.30pm I still wasn't able to get a hold of them so I decided with the airport closing over night and my son being exhausted to book a hotel and try sort it out from there. We got comprehensive travel insurance but they only pay for the incident if I can provide a confirmation of travel delay from the provider. I rang them, I sent Emails, I even chased them up at the airport on our next international flight. It's been over a month now. So very disappointing. It was their fault but all I get is excuses over excuses. And we're not even asking them to pay. Do NOT book with them, there's plenty of good airlines out there, Etihad is not one of them. Will post this on all platforms I can find.


They don't deliver on their promise

They don't deliver on what they promise, they cannot be trusted!


Upon booking my flight, they recommended a 12 transit stopover at Abu Dhabi airport with the promise that they will provide a hotel. After months of chasing them to say the website is showing an error (invalid PNR - even though ticket was issued and confirmed), they completely ignored my emails, made me run around.. kept buying time, eventually telling me I had to book after I completed my first leg (which I did).. and when I arrived at the airport and said I have been trying for months, they clearly acknowledged that I had in fact talked to them but still proceeded to refuse me a hotel. I had to end up paying from my pocket and all this time that I spent chasing them up was completely wasted.


I asked if there is an office or desk in the airport where I can lodge a complaint, they said there's none!


Terrible service, will not fly with them again.


Missing,Damaged baggage after 15 days- No response

I travelled through Etihad Airlines from Chennai(MAA) to Chicago(ORD) on 03 Aug 2022. We were asked to re-board a different flight from Abu Dhabi to Chicago, after they already boarded one flight. I reached Chicago, ORD on 03 Aug with a delay of around 3 hrs. But none of her 3 checked-in baggage arrived. We were given a contact number for Etihad baggage at ORD(7732310778). No one responds to this number & it always goes to a voice mail. Most of the passenger did not receive their check-in baggage as there was a last minute flight change. They made me check-in my cabin baggage, though it contained valuable items and now not responding at all through email or phone.


We raised a Claim for delayed baggage & observed that the claim status is still not updated in the portal. It remains as "TRACING CONTINUES. PLEASE CHECK BACK LATER". No news about the baggage status for 7 days & I finally got an email from wfsordbag@wfs.aero that they are sending all 3 bags to Charlotte airport as my location is Charlotte. But I got only 2 bags delivered through American Airlines flight # AA1784.


When verified with American Airlines customer care, they updated that only 2 baggage came through this flight. The other baggage was not loaded in this flight. Also both the bags that were delivered through AA flight are severely damaged and broken(3 Wheels missing in one baggage and the second baggage is broken).


No update from Etihad Baggage team or the Chicago baggage handling team on the missing bag for 13 days as on 16 Aug 2022. Even when one of my friend went in person to collect it, they just sent him back saying they'll update him once they find the baggage & they are least bothered to check it from their baggage section.


The overall service form Etihad baggage team is totally unacceptable and causing too much of stress due undue delay in baggage delivery, multiple follow-ups with no response, multiple visits to airport, additional efforts from our side with no certainty in timelines.


The Etihad ticketing staffs at IAD airport WORST!!

Do you believe that after completing the online check-in process, we still need to stand in line for 2 hours in the airport to get your boarding passes, the airport staffs from Etihad airlines are the worst I have ever seen in my 16 years of Air travel, there was so many families with children standing in line for 2 hrs to get the boarding pass is such a ridiculous! even the animal sloth works faster when comparing with these Etihad people. Inside the flight they refuse to provide hot water to feed the milk to children(we need to beg them for hot water 2 to 3 times), if the child cries they will ask you to take them to Restroom for calming, the Veg food(Cucumber salad) provided in the 13 hour flight(IAD to AUH) is stale and greasy. Enough is enough, I wont book Etihad in my life time again.
