Dyson V12 Vacuum Cleaner - Specs Misleading

I bought a Dyson V12 Detect Slim Vacuum Cleaner from a retailer. The retailer person demoed the vacuum cleaner and I did research on Dyson's website in terms of the specs and return policy. The runtime of the machine and the return policy made me buy this device. On the very first day, I realized that the runtime is too short and is not as per Dyson's claim on their website i.e. 60 minutes. After continuous follow up for 2 weeks, Dyson finally reverted with the following runtime specs which shocked me

Run time(Carpet with Motorhead) "5 mins High mode 20 mins Med mode 30 mins Low mode"


Run time(Hardfloor with Motorhead) "5 mins High mode 20 mins Med mode 40 mins Low mode"


Run time(Carpet with Fluffy) "5 mins High mode 20 mins Med mode 30 mins Low mode"


Run time(Hardfloor with Fluffy) "5 mins High mode 30 mins Med mode 50 mins Low mode" Run time(without Motorhead) "5 mins High mode 30 mins Med mode 60 mins Low mode" mins

I asked them in only one case(out of all the several above cases) the runtime is 60 minutes then why did they claim the runtime to be 60 minutes. The runtime is based on the run modes and accessories which was not mentioned by the person who demoed the device neither it is mentioned in the specifications on the Dyson website.


The next shock was I tried to return the machine and Dyson said that the retailer's return policy applies. Dyson should be clear on their website that their attractive return policy is only applicable if they buy directly from Dyson.


I am now helpless. The retailer is not responding at all and Dyson is asking to talk to retailer.

Painful Customer Support & Steals Money

I bought a Dyson V8 absolute & detail cleaning kit with order - 24760008 on 22/11/23.


After going through the torture following up on its delivery & horrible experience with Delhivery. The main machine was still not delivered(even though the detail kit was delivered the very next day), so I gave up & requested Dyson to cancel my order.


Little that I know that Dyson had plans to make my life more miserable. the main machine is already returned back to their warehouse but Dyson refused to refund my money till the detail cleaning kit will be picked up as well. I was given a date of 6th Dec for pick-up & since then no one showed up for pick-up.


I spoke to Dyson more than 20 times in the last 1 month and every time I hear the same thing which now I know by words -


"I've escalated this case, it will be picked-up in 24-48 hours".


I had requested for partial refund for the machine which has been lying in their warehouse for the last 2-3 weeks but the request is getting refused.


They are holding my 27k for a 900rs cleaning kit.


I don't think they have plans to pick cleaning kit as they have no intention to refund my money. biggest mistake of my life to choose Dyson & buying it from their official website. I lost all my money & went through torture for a month. I've to take some legal action now.

There is absolutely no contact person. Only while sales and in warranty you can reach out to them.


They Communicate Only through watsapp. Visit charges are 2000 just to see the product. They do not talk to you if your product is out of warranty. Don’t buy such an expensive product as there is no service.


Dyson poor customer service support

We have had a very bad experience with Dyson post sales customer service. Our Dyson vaccum cleaner required one of the parts for replacement, for which we had ordered the parts. However after a very long delay also the parts did not come. Upon checking up they said as a goodwill gesture, Dyson will provide the replacement parts free of cost. However, so far neither the parts have come nor there has been any response from Dyson.


Ridiculous customer support from Dyson, who are all over for selling their products although they lack in their claims of customer support post sales.

Dyson support is pathetic. They dont have service centres in any city. Only option is a engineer visit or you sending the product to there Delhi centre. Either of the options are very expensive. Eng visit just to check the problem is Rs.1990/-+ parts charges. For an international brand not having service centres+ such a expensive engg visit charges are unacceptable. So pl be aware of this before you buy the product.

This vacuum cleaner changes everything you knew about vacuum cleaners. Let’s start with the way you hold it. In traditional ones you hold the pipe and drag a brush, here you hold a handle on the motor and container itself while simultaneously pressing a button. Its heavy and feels heavy till you get used to it . This way of holding the unit makes the rod feel short specially if you are 6 feet’s or more in height. A flexible and a non flexible extension parts are included and can be used to increase length, but only with brushes that are not motorized.


That brings us to the reason why this vacuum works better . The suction and sweeping is done at two places as you push the brush a motor in it is activated to help move and sweep up the dust and debris . The rollers in the brushes are felt covered and can be removed and washed and dried.


The noise level is also low but the sound it produces is kind of a rhythmic plastic rustling which some people and pets find annoying.


This version has a display that shows battery capacity and time left. This is constantly updated as you use and a fully charged unit lasts for about a hour of usage and can clean a decent sized 3 BHK.


The floor stand though “ free” is of little use and can be done away with if you plan to wall mount. The power adapter is oddly designed and is horizontally longer and you need a plug at the right corner without any other switches around to prevent it from pressing and switching on those switches.


The battery itself is removable in this model and can be charged very conveniently on a table with the AC adapter.


There are numerous attachments for every cleaning job you an think of and it is versatile. Attachments available for screen, ceiling, crevice and so on along with two attachments for extending of rod and a flexible extension.


Please take care of the connecting rod as it also carries power to the powered brushes and can be damaged if it’s tricked edges when vacuuming.


The housing and the brushes have clear PET which is “ unbreakable” but I would still advise caution and not dropping them.


Emptying the vacuum is easy and I would recommend emptying it after every room if there is too much dirt or you have pets.


as mentioned due to the way this vacuum is designed it can feel a bit heavy to hold and use, please try at a dyson store or if anyone you know has one please try theirs before you buy.


Customer support is very good and they also do follow ups after purchase to ensure customer satisfaction. Online demo's are also available and cn be scheduled. I don't know why people complain about service, I have used the service many times using the whatapp number 8800560658. usually they promptly order a replacement part for you if its under warranty its free else you would need to pay. they also arrange for a video conference call with their technician for more complex issues or for help with using the ordered spares.

I have purchased the Dyson V11 Absolute Pro Vaccume Cleaner for 47610 rupees on 18th January 2021 and was delivered on 19th January 2021. I have called the customer care on 18002586688/ 011-42302188 and also email for demo and installation. But they never responded. I am regreting to purchase the same.


Dyson cheating buyers with no cost EMI option

Dyson promised an no cost EMI while purchasing the product but after purchase an interest of 15% is being charged on the EMIs. when I questioned their customer support, they said it was my mistake as I chose the wrong option while buying the product. which is an Lie.
