I have a fairly decent make of vacuum cleaner. It tends to perform what I thought was very well; my carpets seemed to be very clean, and I always had to empty out the bag every couple of weeks, so I thought it was picking up the dirt great. Then, two days before my mother -in-law was due to come stay, two things happened that struck absolute terror in my heart. First, my vacuum decided to only suck up using is hose extension; secondly, my broom handle fell off and refused to remain reattached. This is an absolute calamity as I have a large area of hard wooden floors and tile in my downstairs, as well as the large amounts of the usual carpeting.
My best friend came to my rescue. She loaned me her Dyson DC04. It can be used on either hard surfaces or carpet without having to fiddle about, except to turn off the rotating brush. It has a very long hose, so I did not have to struggle on the stairs to get them clean and presentable.
It is bagless, so you don't need to worry about messing about replacing bags, and also means you therefore never need wonder again if you have a spare bag. The lifetime filter, I was told, had just been cleaned, so I did not need to bother. Apparently you are to clean them every 6 months.
I am very glad it is bagless. It filled up 4 times before I was finished, and I vacuum at least once every other day, as well as sweep my floors daily. The dual cyclone action pulled out dirt so ancient it may have been there from when the carpet was first laid! I have found myself wondering about the relative performance of the new Dyson 4 cyclone machine if this wonder produced such amazing results. I asked her how long she had had this machine, and am told it is about 18 months old. I mentioned the performance of this product at a mother and toddler group meeting and was surprised to hear one woman say she has had her Dyson for nearly 8 years and it still outperforms other vacuum cleaners.
Dear Santa, I have a wish. Normally I ask for jewellry, but not this year. may I have a Dyson of my own and not the Hoover knock-off.? Pretty please?????
