Good medical care hospital
Sep 27, 2018 10:54 AM 14228 Views

Mehta hospital is one of the best hospital in Chennai. Around 2 years back I had gone to Mehta hospital with my uncle, there were so many patients from the different city of Tamil Nadu. The infrastructure of the hospital is good. Medical care services are very good because all the necessary medical equipment are available and doing any medical test you do not have to go outside the hospital everything is available inside the hospital.

Good Facility

Hai,

I am going to talk about Mehta Hospital. I came to know about this hospital from one of our relative. I am suffering from Cardiology problem, for further treatment one of my friend recommended with this hospital. Doctors of this hospital are good in their field. Nursing staff are very humble to speak. Cleanliness and hygiene are kept to the top.

I was very pleased with the services and facilities provided at the hospital. My mother in law has been consulting various other hospitals but there were no signs of improvement. When we consulted we came to find out that the diagnosis was wrong and she had to go through the surgery immediately. We decided to try this hospital with my family as it was highly recommended and I am very satisfied with the results. I would like to extend a special thanks to the Laparoscopic surgery team for a very successful surgery. Also, a big thanks to the nurses for being extremely kind and warm hearted. Specially to nurse Sudha.C, Daisya and indumathi. All in all, I am very pleases with the results and would love to recommend the hospital to others as well.

Mehta Hospital -Worst

Mehta Hospital - Out Patient Ward. If you are going to this hospital first time, then there is a registration fees of Rs.150. Consultation fees to the particular doctor is Rs.400 and the same doctor purposefully recommend another doctor for suggestion. He will speak for 5 minutes and charge Rs.500 without bill unnessarily. The doctor should atleast diagnose the patient and suggest medicines. The worst hospital I have ever seen in chennai chetpet. The director Usha Sukla allows the doctors for these worst activities towards the patient. Better search for some other hospital.

Bad NICU with unavailable specialists on emergency
Dec 03, 2016 11:28 PM 22376 Views (via Mobile)

I buried my week old just born because of lack of support from neonatologist since he did not available during the time of emergency in NICU during after hours 8.30 pm and let the trainee doctor to handle the situation till midnight. Do you ever accept this kind of behavior. Even after spending 2.5 Lakhs for a week. It is our bad that we chose this hospital with full trust. This hospital staffs even doctors are not in the same mentality what they had few years back.

The staffs for security to cleaners are arrogant thay will treat attenders and visitors cheaply as if we are beggars. when I went to complaint about this attitude to a higher level management staff. It took 2 days to find the Manager whose name is Warren and I found that he is the most arrogant and worst guy who trainned every other fellow juniors similar way. As long as so called Mr. Warren is there you will be disrespectfull within the premises. so dont go to this hospital. I am not sure but doubt he had hand in my week old just born in NICU gets killed because of fight with him on previous day.

Overcharging n not worthy

Unpleasant experience with nicu care. Everyone is getting carried away by the attitude and language of the consultants here. Once your wife/daughter/sickbaby get admitted here they are in poor hands of untrained doctors and nurses.

Unlucky babies delivered here in mehta or elsewhere are sent here bcos if negative outcome occurs u cant blamethe delivery doctor for not referring us to higher center bcos unfortunately mehta is considered a tertiary referal center, first point.

Next the ambeience and hygeine standards are very poor except for new block.the nicu perse is near dialysis unit and labour ward where the atmosphere is most contaminated. Nicu is a ageold darkroom not renovated.u can guess how it is inside by looking at that shoerack and inner waiting area.stand at nicu entrance n look at the board there before lift Where u can see doctor staff n baby details.

There will b more than 25 babies at a time inside needing that very special care for survival but not more than 6 or max 7 staffs for a shift and of which 4 or 5 are are naive.the expert consultant incharge for a day will never b there except during morning rounds and outpatient timings.most of the time the high risk mother and sick newborn are handled by duty docs who are L' boards.u offer your baby n ur money for that.

There is no separate ward for mothers and they are given any room among terminally ill and other genersl pts.there is very less nicu staffs compared to the babies they receive and many are training staffs which make the quality of care for the precious babies under question.

Its a teaching hosp where any private doc can pay huge sum to get training in newborn careand so the babies are under new inexperienced doctors whom you assume as newborn specialists.consultants are involved in the emergency very late compromising the Life of the baby as in our case.if asked what we would ve done differently if we know the poor outcome of our precicious baby previously itself, it will be changing the hospital.y

You can ask this one question to ur doctor who give you the false sense of trust that why expert consultants are not on round the clock duty when we pay so much an when they deal with such life and death of tender newborns and high risk mothers. Ask them about one to one staffing and what happens when the mother or baby is in a emergency situation requiring expert care.the sedated mother in icu or the fragile babies will not speak for themselves. We had a heartbreaking experience during our long stay which took all our fortune.

Inaction from Support Staff

Had a nightmare experience in the hospital last week which ended in one of my closest relatives attaining his Lotus feet.

The patient was undergoing blood transfusion and in a critical state of health with no proper sleep and going through severe mental stress.

Though the nurses and doctors were very good and helpful the frustrating part came from the support organisation which did not understand the sensitive nature of the ailment and the trauma which the patient was going through.

There was continuous drilling operations and renovation work going on in the hospital with unbearable noise levels which would irritate even a normal person.  We had called the nurse and expressed the discomfort which the patient was going through due to these renovation operations and the nurse immediately brought it to the notice of the PRO.

PRO person visited the ward to attend to the complaint and left back in minutes giving an assurance that the operations will be stopped with immediate effect.  Neither did the operations stop nor the noise levels come down after that.  The PRO person did not even return back to update on the situation.

After going through this agony for a few hours, the patient unexpectedly collapsed in the evening hours of the day due to cardiac arrest.  Reflecting back on that day, we feel that the patient could have survived had the PRO team understood the sensitivity of the situation, acted swiftly with some empathy on the patient and taken the needful action.

Probably this is how the destiny has been defined for the departed soul.  Also think twice before you venture to consume something from the canteen.  An hospital with a good team of doctors and nurses but poorly managed.

Had bad experience
Oct 07, 2014 12:01 PM 47160 Views

I admitted in this hospital for delivery. My dr.Nazeera came to hospital after 2hrs after I had severe labor pain. She explained that her car driver was not there. Ie she was unable to come early. Labor ward nurse and the old age duty doctor(who lost grip in her hand) attended my delivery. Because of their way of delivery my baby drunk some salt water and had continuous vomit. Pediatrician didn't clean my baby properly, after my mom shouted again they cleaned my baby properly. After my delivery I was waiting for15 mins for dr.nazeera to have stitches in my reproduction part.after completing this she didn't wait for even 5 mins,

After 3 days dr recommended to discharge. So we informed to nurses in the morning itself that we are going to discharge by 5pm. But eveing nurses told my case book is missing. Then I called each and every dept to find out it. But no proper response. After 8.30pm accounts dept accepted that the case file is with them. Because of their carelessness they asked me to pay one day extra room rent, because it was 9 pm(i admitted around 8.30pm before few days) inorder to charge one day room rent extra they played this drama. I advice don't choose mehta hospital and dr.nazeera sadique.

If you get any other doctor in that hospital pls clear with them before going to that hospital.

Mehta's Hospital Chetpet is the Worst Hospital
Sep 26, 2013 10:24 PM 23313 Views

I had a very bad experience while I admitted my wife for delivery and while I admitted my new born son in NICU.

During my wife's admission:

  1. Not enough rooms so I was forced to take a room shared by three patients. Later we moved to a separate room.

  2. The AC in the room will run for 24 hours but you won't get chillness.

  3. Rest rooms are not clean.

  4. Labor ward is not properly positioned, anybody can see what is happening in the first room when it is open and that happened to be the dressing and preparing before delivery. As the nurses will go in and come out of that room very often, so no privacy to the patients.

  5. It is a normal practice to shave the abdomen area of the patients, this will be useful if at all the patient is undergoing an c section operation. Same razor (shaver) is used on all the patients, very un-hygiene practice.

  6. The hospital has many child specialists but almost all of them are male, so almost in all normal delivery cases they send in a male doctor to the labor room.

  7. No parking area in the hospital.

During my son's NICU admission:

  1. My son was 4 days old by then, my wife had not recovered from delivery wounds, she was not able to sit at all. My son was admitted in NICU, I asked them a room for my wife and I. The receptionist took around 1 hour 30 minutes to finish the admission formalities, till then my wife was forced to stand.

  2. Then we moved to a room non-ac room. There was no hot water in the hot water tap.

  3. Bath room was not clean.

  4. In the NICU the mothers are allowed at any time to feed the babies, but father is allowed during visiting hours only. Any other relatives are not allowed. However in few cases mother is not able to come to the NICU and father is out of station, even for that case they won't??

They allow other relatives say grand parents to see the babies during the visiting hours. Although few have managed to see the babies after a great fight.

  1. Though some sisters in the NICU is really caring not all of them are caring well. My son's voice was changes due to continuous crying. Which means nobody was attended him when he was crying.

  2. They won'??t change the huggies regularly, in two of my visit to NICU I have notice that my son's photo therapy bed is full of urine even his head is wet because of his urine.

  3. They take a new born screen test without parents' knowledge for all the kids in the NICU. As part of this they will take blood samples from babies feet.

  4. Be careful with the billing, especially with the NICU billing. They normally add some expenses which is not relevant/not used.

Below are the good points:

  1. Doctors are experienced. they try for normal delivery for the maximum.

  2. The hospital has many features which is not available in many small hospitals. Both for new born and the mother.

We highly appreciate the good work done by the staff of Mehta’s hospital. The reception staff are courteous enough to answer all our queries.

The NICU nurses are very kind and caring. I underwent an LSCS here at Mehta Hospital. The doctors and nurses took very good care of my baby. I am highly satisfied with the services provided by this hospital.

"I would like to appreciate that Mehta Children's Hospital has got the best pediatricians in Chennai. I would like to mention few names like Dr.Gowrishankar and Dr.Tangavelu who treated my daughter as she was suffering with wheeze. Before coming to Mehta I tried many hospitals in Chennai but I couldn’t see any end result of my daughters health as she was a preterm born. But after when I was referred to Mehta I have seen a miracle , my daughter who use to get wheeze very often changed to very rare and now nil .May God bless this place and doctors who take utmost care of the patients . My special thanks to the management who is providing the best medical services to the patients, Indeed Mehta hospital is children’s best hospital in Chennai."

Dedicated Doctor
Oct 29, 2012 10:15 AM 18748 Views

Dear Dr.Usha Mam, To briefly introduce myself, my name is Kamalakannan Padmanabhan, a Human Resources Professional working for Dell Services Company Heading Talent Acquisition Function in Chennai. I reside at Perambur with my family. Am writing this mail to share my extreme happiness with the exceptional services rendered by Dr.Balamourougane at Dr.Mehta’s Hospitals for the treatment of our new born baby who was suffering from intestinal obstruction.

I am married to Bharathy in Dec 2010, later she was conceived and during the 6th month of her pregnancy we had come to know about the foetus intestinal obstruction issue through the scan reports, that was in September 2011. Sooner I got to understand the baby’s problem, I had started my search with the intent to identify the best doctor in the city for us to consult and take help from. I had met about 5 or 6 pediatric surgeons in the city which includes well known chief doctors as well, at their residence and hospitals, among all of them Dr.Balamourougane was the one who inspired me completely giving self some hope on the baby and was firm that this baby should be given a chance and not to terminate. Since then (since Sep’2011) we are connected with Dr.Balamourougane who is providing his invaluable services to us. With ShirdiSai Baba’s blessings, baby was born on 4th Jan 2012 at Mehta. Our baby boy underwent surgery on day2, was under stoma care for about 3 months and the Ileostomy closure was done on 11th April 2012 just 5 days back. From the beginning everything was carried out neatly and performed to the greatest perfection by Dr.Balamourougane to whom we are debtful forever.

He has given us back a healthy happy baby which is equivalent to both (wife & self) our lives. Dr.Balamourougane is a very dynamic, young, energetic, active, highly motivating, highly decisive, most approachable doctors I had ever seen since my birth (i.e. of the last 36 years). Above all, his humane approach to his patients and relatives is significant which we don’t see much among the doctors fraternity these days (please do not mistake for being generic here, this is my personal view only). He is genuine, very transparent, gives the right guidance, advice and support at the very right time every time. I would easily call him 10 times a day and more than 5 times with an sms, everytime he responds promptly giving the right solutions and support, many a times I called in the night hours sometimes in the midnight as well. He always says “do not hesitate to call me anytime any day for any needs”! If I were to award/recognize him for his great, admiring contributions to the society on the healthcare front especially on the pediatric side, we would crown him with the following awards, Best Pediatric Surgeon in the country Most Approachable Doctor Most Dedicated Doctor A Real Humane Doctor Not even a bit of exaggeration in the above content, these are thought through and written expressions straight from my heart!! I would be obliged if you could give me an opportunity to speak a few words about Dr.Balamourougane and the services rendered by Dr.Mehta’s Hospitals to the society, may be in one of your staff/doctors meetings.

If not it would be great if you could share/circulate this mail to all your staff and doctors in Mehta Hospitals. Special note of thanks to Dr.Gnanabalan who introduced Dr.Balamourougane to us, and also for all his help during this time. I would like to thank Dr.Latha Jawahar for her timely service on the delivery front. Whomever approaching me for any help on healthcare needs especially on the pediatric front I have started directing them to Dr.Mehta’s Hospitals, for them to experience the too good services we have experienced here. Thanking you and Dr.Balamourougane sincerely from the bottom of my heart, thank you! .

Overcharged and unclean
Jul 03, 2012 05:04 PM 16043 Views

I was referred to Mehtas nephrology dept. for my child through a paediatrician. Unfortunately, I had a poor experience with them. We felt that they charged too much. Even before one sees the nephrologist, one has to pay a lady (called Front Office Executive) Rs. 500 in cash as Drs fees. When I asked for a receipt, that lady said that she only collected the money for the Dr but that I should ask the Dr for the receipt. After seeing the Dr, he prescribed various tests. Next day, I went back to have the test results reviewed. Even for this second consultation, the lady at the front asked for Rs. 300.

I asked her why we had to pay again for a second follow up visit but she said that was the rule. Again, she said that for a receipt, I had to ask the Dr. I did and was given a receipt. I feel that these Drs are playing some game - they collect money in cash - lots of it - give out only a few receipts and obviously, keep all this cash as black money, evading tax. I have decided to report them to the IT dept. for tax evasion. Also, I found that there were small cockroaches in many places; I also saw rats scurrying around the building at night. It shows a lack of hygiene.

Thanks.

We are very impressed with the good medical care and, timely and periodic review by doctors. Support services like nursing and pharmacy are very good, especially the pharmacy services where 24 hours medicines are available for inpatients. Hygiene factors are well taken care of by the housekeeping staff. Above all my son recovered earlier than expected and I am extremely happy on this account. I wish all the best to Dr. Mehta's for its service. I would be very happy to recommend this hospital to my family and friends!
