Dal Lake, Srinagar

Worst experience in dal lake , I visited with my daughter on 16th june to dal lake , I was charged rs 4500 for 1 hr, it is totally heart breaking how I got cheated . I agree it was my mistake to went for a ride without collecting much information but I was not expecting this. Few rs here n there is ok but straight away cheating with this much amount was a sad part during my visit to srinagar .

Guys pls be careful when u enter from gate num 17 dal lake there are scammers .

We booked our houseboat from the vendors on ghats of dal lake.We booked two rooms for 8000/- and we got very bad houseboat at this price.location was very poor ie the last houseboat of galden lake in dal lake and the behaviour of the owner was very harsh with us Even he threatened us that I can cut u in pieces or drown u in dal lake.I am sharing his contact number also please beware of this guy 80823XXXXX

I will never recommend anyone to book a houseboat without having a look on the location.Horrible experience ever.

My recent visit to dal lake was fabulous ans mesmerizing. The lake is total in 22square km and the shikaras in it makes more attractive. But now a days people who live around dal lake are filling this wetland for illegal construction. The authorities of conversation of wetlands are trying there best to stop illegal acts.

However from last one decade the dal lake is getting more and more polluted if we look from dal gate end there are polythene bags, wine bottles, junk food wrappers etc in it. This beautiful lake of srinagar has become a dumping site and people living in houseboats have contructed toilets in it that has changed its PH level which leads to extinction of marine life as water becomes more acidy.

Life is nothing without understand nature, natural rules. As every point there is a presence of natural things. Same is to for kashmir. Kashmir is pradise on earth and is covered by mountains all around. Besides it a famous and charming spot of nature's is present in srinagar east side which is known as "dal lake".Dal lake is below the walls of nishat garden. Among nishat garden, north side is present Dachigam national park, west side is present hazarat bal, grave yard of sheikh mohammad abdullaah, also a small park. In south side is present dalgate, parimahal. Dal shows it's charming at the time of night when one side shrine of hazarat bal is charming with different lights, along one side nishat and inside lighting is present in dal.char chinar is also the charming moment of dal present at middle of dal. Water of dal was very pure in such time. Lot of films are made here because of it's charming like bemisaal.Dal lake has lot of charming all side. During the time of winter it's coated by layer of snow like metal is present in it. Dal lake beautifullness and glouring is famous all over world. But unfortunately now days it's charming is degredating . Lot of people of srinagar cover its land for buildings. In every side waste products are thrown in it. Bad smell comes every where. It's land is now compacted every side. It's charming is now lose by our un awareness and care less. No one takes step for that. One time lowda organisation was doing something for it. But this time we all should do something for it.

Dal Lake is a beautiful and delightful tourist destination in Srinagar. The lake is well known for the Shikara, a wooden boat, and a houseboat. From the houseboat, there is a lovely outing to Dal Lake, while riding from Shikara to Dal Lake and the houseboat. Houseboats offer a panoramic view of Dal Lake as well as panoramic views of the mountains near the lake. The lake market is the main attraction for shopping and there are many shops in the middle of the lake. Handmade earrings, wooden artwork, and saffron can be found here. It is my favorite place in Srinagar.

I now divulge my ideas through my writing about Dal lake in Srinagar .I visited and imbibed the elegance of this famous lake in Srinagar at the time of dawn,dusk and from house boat .We cruised at the Dal in shikara .We saw the green or turquoise water of the lake .We saw the island and chinar trees at the middle of the lake .Wow! The color of the lake changes along with weather,sunny or clouds in the sky .We also bought a cup of hot coffee and relished the beauty of the lake .We noticed many floating boats selling vegetables,flowers,fruits and the local people depend on selling crops .We also bought fruits .We pedaled boat and talked to the shikara owners .The lake water sprinkled out of the river out of whirlpool as soon as our boat or shikara approached through water .We felt wonderful .As we witnessed sunset the red sun plunged into the mighty,vast dal .We thought someone dissolved red gulal into the water of dal .Wow! I will always remember that cherubic scene till my last breath.I would put my request to all tourists and house boat owner that please don't hurl banana skins or packets into the water .Don't drain out dirty water out of your hotel or house boat .I again and again love to go to the lap of the beautiful dal lake .The place is safe and definitely not expensive .

Dal lake is one of the famous lakes of world .

It is a real beauty of kashmir.

When one drives at evening around the Dal road really speaking feels like qe are in heaven.But unfortunately the people of kashmir mostly people from srinagar are polluting it on a large scale .All wastes from homes, hotels and other nearby places goes directly into the dal lake.

And it is very unfortunate that government of Kashmir are taking it lightly.It vl highly affect the comming generations.One cant go near it at various places so disgusting smells come from the lake.It is my honest request to govt to see this issue

The ideally snow laden lands in the northern most region of India, though amidst a numerous conflicts and disputes, still continues to be the most visited and loved tourist spots in India.

Among the various beauty, the few noticeable aspects of this paradise are the Dal lake, Gulmarg mountain, Apple Gardens, Amarnath Temple and the list goes on. Though we covered each of the above mentioned locations excluding the Amarnath Temple, this review is particularly about the very famous Dal lake of Kashmir.

Dal Lake is located in the Srinagar district of Kashmir. It is among the most visited places in the region. Though the lake is mostly covered with snow for major part of the year which forbids any extracurricular activities like boating and photography, since we visited in the mid summers, the lake was snow-free and hence available for boating.

The entire lake stretches for a good 8 Km’s and houses a numerous number of activities throughout in the lake itself. It is the floating heaven of Kashmir. The lake witnesses huge wooden boats in the form of floating shops that sell exotic artworks and handicrafts exclusively found only in this part of India. The enormous floating boats are a wonder to watch. Also known as houseboats, these boats also act as a shelter or permanent houses for the person owning them. From cloth items to food materials, these boats excel in every item and are a great experience.

Photography is another great feature here and there are professional photographers loitering throughout the region who are ready to click some exceptional photographs for a rate as low as Rs. 10 per copy. The photographers float in the lake in form of drifting boats and for any customer enjoying boating in the lake, they can click photos in the lake itself. Apart from this, people can also click photographs in the traditional Kashmiri attire which is provided by the photographers themselves. This is a unique experience and is surely a must try in this lake.

Besides all these, Dal Lake is also famous as a shooting location for various Bollywood movies. The very famous Bollywood movie Mission Kashmir was shot in this lake which continues to be an all time hit. Moreover recently, the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan also has a song featured in this lake namely Jiya Re featuring Anushka Sharma. So not only tourists, but the Dal Lake also attracts our Bollywood cinemakers.

It is a great place and is a must visit for anyone travelling to this location. The lake is highly attractive for its floating houseboats that sell everything from foods to flowers to handicraft and cloth materials. I think it is a lifetime experience and would be cherished throughout the life. Must visit.

I had been with my family to Srinagar in my summer holidays and if you went to Srinagar and not seen Dal lake then its not worth going.

Shikaras the beauty of Dal lake is an adventures ride for all the tourists. In the lake itself there are boat houses and market. We can get mostly every thing from the market.

The rate of clothes in the market was very less and hand made so I bought a jacket as it was very cold out there. There are many hotels near the Dal lake and we stayed in the Welcome hotel that was facing the Dal lake. It was very costly but the view out there was terrific

Truly Srinagars Dal lake is the beauty of India and it is place one would never forget. The more amazing experience would be if you stay in house boat which is the specialty of Dal lake which I missed it.

Dal lake is very famous in Srinagar. when I get marriage. Then my dream is I will go for  my honeymoon Srinagar.  After marriage my first honeymoon trip  is Srinagar.

We go by air. When we reached in Srinagar. It is my unforgettable and memorable trip with my husband. There are many  good hotels around the dal lake.

So we take hotel around the  dal lake.  Shikara ride on the lake is a great experience. There are many houseboat also in dal lake. We also enjoy in houseboat. There is very pleasant and awesome experience.
