Assuming that Cujo mirrors Buck in Jack London''s The Call of the Wild, he would likely represent the struggle between animals'' natural instincts and societal constraints, much like the untrained dog in Kumar''s account. Cujo''s problematic behavior may highlight the strain of conflicting expectations and unnatural pressures imposed by humans.

There''s no textual evidence of that as far as I can tell, but it seems significant that Frank Dodd''s evil is tied so strongly to Cujo from the very start of the book. Once a monster like Frank Dodd touches an area, the area is tainted. My interpretation of it isn''t a literal presence of Frank Dodd''s ghost. I think Frank Dodd is also a metaphor for the evils that exist in society.

Though she is now in relative safety inside the car, she finally lets out her pent-up terror, hence the scream. It''s not about what she sees outdoors but an instinctive reaction to the extreme fear and stress she has been through.

King says he doesn''t feel panic or terror, but rather, a "gnawing anxiety." It''s not terror that I feel, that I think most people feel, it''s a kind of gnawing anxiety where you say to yourself. The woman will take the car to the mechanic, and hell will be unleashed.

Cujo appears and attacks her. She climbs back in the car as Cujo starts to attack. Donna and Tad are trapped in their vehicle, the interior of which becomes increasingly hot in the summer sun. She plans to run for the house but abandons the idea because she fears the door will be locked and that she will be subsequently killed by Cujo.

HE provide some hints, produce curiosity and problem to down problem. idea a number of times after he first introduces it, and before the payoff. King brings suspense to a peak during the payoff, the section of the story where the horror is most intense.
