Stay at Country Inn & Suites, Amritsar made us decide to avoid staying in other branches of this hotel in future. Park at Vizag andTaj at Aurangabad are still the best memories of our holidays as far as hotel packages in India go.
Reception staff were ill-mannered, least bothered and disorganized. We found house-keeping, attendants and even gate-keepers better than the reception. Our bed-sheets were untidy and had a used-look when we checked in. We had to ask for a change Bathroom shower was not working and we had to get it repaired.Buffet breakfast had a very limited menu and that too of not very good quality.
We requested for late check-out by one-hour and reception staff bluntly refused in military style. When we handed over the key for check-out, receptionist called out a staff and asked him to check the items in the room, as if. She didn’t seem to have heard the words discreet and subtle. So much for 4-star hospitality. We felt like staying in a road-side hotel.
After experiencing all this, we could understand why they could not accommodate our request for complimentary pick-up/drop. For them, we were not guests, as their motto claims, but just clients who had made the full payment in advance.
Wish we had stayed in another hotel. Tripadvisor hotel rating which led us to wonderful Mewar Haveli inUdaipur, misled us this time as it was ranked No.-2.Expedia guys watch out, coz your efficient, prompt and polite service could well be marred by association with such hotels. I hope though that Amritsar is only an exception, but am in no mood to experiment. Wouldn’t matter to them if this is the group culture or working style.
