“ A.I has come to your desktop…”
Today, when we talk of search engine, we feel that life has become so easy that people don’t want to spend time in looking deeply for anything and just have some facility which would help us, in getting things done in flash. Hence, search engines became very popular and left, right, up, down company started using the new concept of search engine in a big way.
A.I is talked about in a big way that it is going to sweep the next generation of technology. On a small scale many companies have started designing application so intelligent that you don’t really have to do most of your work.
Similarly in the current trend A.I., well know search tool developer Copernic have brought this new A.I tool called Copernic Summarizer.
Overview about the Company…
Copernic Technologies Inc. are the leaders in search
tool and their search engine software Copernic 2001plus did really good in the market. Copernic 2001plus (For more information read my review on Copernic 2001 plus) is software based search tool which would search multiple search engine based on their category. It received countless raves and awards from prestigious editors for its many updates and upgrades.
Once again, Copernic Technologies has come up with a very unique tool called Copernic Summarizer. Lets take a brief preview over this software.
What is this Copernic Summarizer (CS) ?
Copernic Summarizer acts on our behalf as a personal assistant to read and summarize texts in English, French, German or Spanish from various applications, producing instant summaries. The artificial intelligence technology integrated into the product allows it to ''understand'' document contents and extract key concepts and sentences. Text contents can be processed from a document, a Web page, a hyperlink, an e-mail message, a file or the Clipboard.
Unique Integration...
The software can also add summarizing features to client applications including Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Word, Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, Acrobat and Acrobat Reader. The unique LiveSummarizer bar integrated in Internet Explorer allows you to obtain summaries in real-time while surfing on the Web. Supported files can be summarized, too, via a summarize command added to the right-click menu of the Windows file manager.
Floating Bar...
A floating bar offers instant and constant access to the software main features, and it allows you to drag & drop a hyperlink or text contents from any application into its drop box. Also, an icon located in the system tray of the Windows taskbar features a right-click menu allowing you instant access to the summarize functions. Copernic Summarizer can also summarize the following types of files: .doc, .txt, .rtf, .htm, .html, .url and .pdf.
Customisation...
The software enables you to customize the summary length of any documents or selected text, depending on your needs. You can export summary reports in various file formats, print and e-mail them to a colleague or friend. You can also copy summaries into documents such as marketing reports, studies, specialized articles, reference cards or knowledge databases.
System Requirement…
Operating System: Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP
CPU: Pentium 120 MHz or better
RAM: 32 MB (minimum)
Hard Disk: At least 15 MB free of disk space
Asyis’s View Point…
Though it sounds really interesting before going ahead there is something I would like to point out.
Web Problems… As far as web summarization is concerned it has a long way to go, because the results given by it are really not sufficient and it doesn’t really uses its brain to give you the right output, because it just picks up the lines from the website directly without prioritizing based on importance.
PDF
Most of the time it doesn’t work with PDF, it gives some kind of errors.
Other Documents…
It really does a good job as far as other documents are concerned it not only gives accurate but it solves your purpose of summarizing the entire 300page document in a crisp manner initiating some important points.
Though, this software has a long way to go, but at least something is better than nothing.
Man, these software’s are making us really lazy and also making us very mechanical. Is A.I taking over our minds, something really interesting to think over and discuss.
