Hi,

this is not a bad book, if someone wants to make it, can read it and start from this book, also try it at home to do it. Every book has a secret, also this one has a secret . Just do it because you can do it.

The pleasures of home-cooking

Tarla Dalal has written many cookery books so far. I have her books like ‘Microwave cooking’and ‘exciting vegetarian cooking’,and I find them useful. I picked her book called ‘Cooking under Ten Minutes’with a lot of excitement.

Let’s see the pros first-

1)It’s a small - rather tiny book with 84 pages. The recipes are divided into different categories, namely- Snacks, Soups, Pastas and Noodles, Stir-Fries, Subzies, Pulaos, and Deserts. There are around 50 recipes (total).

There are a few pages carrying color photographs of some dishes. These photographs are really good. One gets to ‘see’ the ‘final product’ and one can always pick some garnishing tips.

And of course, there is the mandatory ‘gaajar-ka-halwa,which happens to be our unofficial national sweet dish!

Let’s see the cons-

The total cooking time is NOT as little as 10-20 minutes.

No calorie chart or any other nutrition related information is given. So, if you are dieting, eat at your own risk!

Good luck to all the lazy and busy cooks!
