I am from coochbehar district.I had visited the palace few months ago. If you view the palace from outside you would very eager to access there but when you enter the palace you become disappointed because there are very little things of the king to show. Most of rooms are locked. There are no local sightseeing place. There are many hotels but there are lack of facilities. The hotels are very costly than its facilities. The park of the palace not more safe for girls. So be alert.

Hey guys here I am writing my review on the Cooch Behar Palace where I visited last year amd it was quite bad place and I really didn't like the ambience there.
The palace situated in Cochbehar city is surrounded by many buildings but they are not all hotels and you will have a little problem to find a hotel. It is easy to reach the palace by bus, auto etc.
There is no scope for any other local sightseeing aroud the palace but you can see th Dooars which around the area.
Talking about the palace, honest to say it is a mess. When I visited it was winter but I didn't saw that much flowers in the garden amd the whole place was dirty, seats were not good for sitting so we had to sit on grass.Packets, chewing gums were here and there. We entered the palace and foumd most of the rooms closed and were able to see 3 or 4 rooms.
So guys it was quite boring in there and I would not recommend anyone to visit there.
Only 200 KM away from Siliguri, Well connected by Train with nearest Train Station New Cooch Behar(Only 2 KM Away). And By Bus(NBSTC & Private Bus) is also easily accessible from each corner of Country.
It was designed by British Engineer on the model of Buckinghum Palace at the time of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. Fantastic Park with wide open space. A museum with ancient ingredients used by Koch Kings and their family.
There are several Well furnished and decorated Hotels in Cooch Behar for staying and fooding. Hotels like Hotel BD, Yubraj Hotel, ROyal Palace etc are some of them.
Cooch Behar is a nice city. People of here are very peaceful and helpful.
YOUR RATING ON
I have resided and worked in Cooch Behar so I got the opportunity to visit the Royal Palace of Cooch Behar also known as Rajbari Mahal by the local inhabitants.
The design and infrastructure is fantastic and it is considered as an architectural landmark in entire North Bengal region.
It is easily accessible as it is located at the heart of the town and entry fees is also low. The palace was constructed by King Nipendra Narayan of the Koch dynasty in 1887 and is considered a famous personality in the history of North Bengal.
The palace is also surrounded by garden for visitors to sit and enjoy the grand view of the palace. Thus, if someone visits Cooch Behar he can surely visit the Royal Palace as well.
Cooch Behar Palace, also called the Victor Jubilee Palace, is a landmark in Cooch Behar city, West Bengal. It was designed on the model of Buckingham Palace in London in 1887, during the reign of Maharaja Nripendra Narayan. The Cooch Behar Palace, noted for its elegance and grandeur, is a property of The Mantri's. It is a brick-built double-storey structure in the classical Western style. Five distinct seasons(summer, monsoons, autumn, winter and spring) can be observed in Cooch Behar, of which summer, monsoons and winter are more prominent. Cooch Behar has a moderate climate characterised by heavy rainfall during the monsoons and slight rainfall from October to mid-November.So except monsoon traveling here can be done.We traveled for 5days holiday here in September 2016.
I try to visit the palace whenever I am in Cooch Behar. My parents belong from here. The beauty of the place is worth mentioning.
The gardens are genuinely well kept. The park is huge and there are also good food options here. Toto vehicles will easily take you to the palace at very cheap rates.
The palace houses interesting museum with excellent collections. But with each passing year, you will see more and more artifacts vanishing from the palace. Due to low security I am sure the artifacts are getting removed easily. So compared to the outside, the inside is losing its charm every year. You can enjoy your evenings here with your family with a very cheap ticket. Have a pleasant stay!
