I had never visited Kerala before and when we decided to go to Kerala last December (2010) for vacation, one of my friends suggested Cocobay in kumarakom, Kottayam.
Kumarakom was not an easy place to reach from Bangalore (we went by bus as we couldn't get Train tickets - and it took over 12 hours) but the travel was well worth it! Cocobay turned out to be a very nice place indeed.
The rooms were extremely well kept and the overall ambience of the resort was simply superb. With the banks of the Vembunad Lake right at the perimeter the resort had a very good lake view.... The staffs are very courteous and friendly.
We were there during the Christmas time - which is the peak season. We had booked a house boat through Cocobay for a day and there was some last minute change as the boat we had booked was stranded in the lake before it could pick us up.
The Manager of cocobay was able to make some alternate arrangements - but the alternate boat we got turned out to be a not a very good one. It was not a great thing to happen on a vacation but Cocobay folks did their best to do what they could under the circumstance.
The next day the manager actually refunded a good chunk of the money I had pre-paid for the boat as he realized that the quality and the standard of the boat we got was far less than the usual and profoundly apologized for the incident.
While the boat experience did spoil the vacation somewhat, it was good to see the earnestness with which the resort management responded and did their best to make up for it.
The resort is definitely a great place for a vacation and I would recommend it strongly for anyone planning a trip to Kumarakom.
- Thank You! We appreciate your effort.
