Coco Bay Resort, Kumarakom Reviews

bangalore India
Great place for a quiet vacation...

I had never visited Kerala before and when we decided to go to Kerala last December (2010) for vacation, one of my friends suggested Cocobay in kumarakom, Kottayam.

Kumarakom was not an easy place to reach from Bangalore (we went by bus as we couldn't get Train tickets - and it took over 12 hours) but the travel was well worth it! Cocobay turned out to be a very nice place indeed.

The rooms were extremely well kept and the overall ambience of the resort was simply superb. With the banks of the Vembunad Lake right at the perimeter the resort had a very good lake view.... The staffs are very courteous and friendly.

We were there during the Christmas time - which is the peak season. We had booked a house boat through Cocobay for a day and there was some last minute change as the boat we had booked was stranded in the lake before it could pick us up.

The Manager of cocobay was able to make some alternate arrangements - but the alternate boat we got turned out to be a not a very good one. It was not a great thing to happen on a vacation but Cocobay folks did their best to do what they could under the circumstance.

The next day the manager actually refunded a good chunk of the money I had pre-paid for the boat as he realized that the quality and the standard of the boat we got was far less than the usual and profoundly apologized for the incident.

While the boat experience did spoil the vacation somewhat, it was good to see the earnestness with which the resort management responded and did their best to make up for it.

The resort is definitely a great place for a vacation and I would recommend it strongly for anyone planning a trip to Kumarakom.

Honeymooners paradise at a resonable price

I stayed in Cocobay in Jan 2007. It was a wonderful experience.

The approach road could let you down, but don't be disapointed. A boat will take you to the hotel from the parking lot.

On the+ve side

From there you will receive a indian welcome.

The rooms are even though not very specious, but neat and clean and well maintained.

The swimming pool is the high point of the hotel.

Food was good and reasonably priced.

Very few rooms have a lake view, but at the same time the common area is nicely maintained from where you can have a great view of the lake.

The only negetive point was the reception and the chek out process.

Even though I had booked a sea view room by paying extra money, at the time of chekin the front desk guys tried to give me another room without any view. I had to fight it out with him to finally get the room.

Overall it is secluded, well maintained and reasonable.
