It was an unforgettable visit to Binsar Valley. The Mahindra resort at this place is superb. The ambiance, the units and the staff all deserve words of praise. We really enjoyed our stay in this unit to the best.

In winters the valley has its maximum beauty. The eye catching natural beauty takes you very close to the nature.

We had booked for a holiday at this property for a stay between Dec 28, 2014 and Dec 30, 2014(three nights) and reached Binsar transferring from Club Mahindra's resort at Corbett. We reached in the evening and completed the check in formalities at Binsar Valley.

We were transferred to a Club Mahindra owned and driven Jeep for a two kilometre steep uphill ride to reach the Manipur Villa(these are bamboo log huts) and the drive itself can be scary - it is rather steep and there are no railings on the roadside for the better part of the journey. One vehicle goes up and down at a time to ferry passengers and goods between Binsar Valley(down) and Binsar Villa(the log huts). This property is over 5000 feet from sea level.

All rooms offer an amazing view of the valley.

There are quite a few attractions nearby. A day trip to Jageshwar(about 2 hours drive from Binsar each way) is worth it. This is a temple town with about 125 Shiva temples all located in a cluster. One can get excellent views of the HImalayan ranges en route to Jageshwar from Binsar. Right across the road from the temples is a museum maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. The entry to the museum is free and the artefacts stored here are intact and well preserved with accompanying write-ups. This is certainly worth a visit. The drive to Jageshwar itself is pleasant with pine trees filled forest en route and the deodhar trees found in plenty near the temple area. The zoo in Almora that is en route can be given a miss - there is nothing much to see there, except a few leopards, deer and a Himalayan Black bear.

The Activity Centre organizes picnic or day trips to the Binsar bird sanctuary. The enjoyable part of this trip would be the last two kilometre trek on foot to the high points that offer an unhindered view of the HImalayan peaks/mountain ranges. During winters, there is plenty of snow available for all to enjoy playing in the snow.

A day trip to Bageshwar is also recommended and this can be combined with a visit to Kasauni - this also offers good view of the Himalayan ranges.

Those desirous of having time for themselves without being disturbed should opt for the villas. Those on a family vacation with a need for kids' entertainment and elaborate play area should opt for the Binsar Valley property instead. The service in the restaurant in the Villas can be slow at times as the cooked food makes its way from the Valley(down) to the restaurant in the Villa property. Evening entertainment is also limited in the villas.

The resort is well maintained and the staff are courteous. Room heating can do with some improvement.

Travel tips: If travelling from Corbett, it is advisable to take the route via Nainital and avoid the one through Ranikhet. The latter has too many sharp bends and can be a more difficult drive. If visiting from Delhi, the road journey can be painfully long and tiring. A recommended alternative would be to take the train to Kathgodam and drive down to Binsar(should take about 4 hours). Opting for the Manipur villa would be good for those who prefer to spend time by themselves, whereas Binsar Valley is recommended for family stay.

While winters can be really cold, they also offer good views of the Himalayan ranges. Summers are considered peak season and attractions can get crowded. The mist in summer would also blank out the views of the majestic Himalayan ranges.

For the middle class person to find time to holiday is almost impossible, the busy office schedule and the expensive holiday rates make it impossible for the middle class person to dream of a holiday. Thanks to club Mahindra if you can get leave from office, you can holiday at inexpensive rates at holiday spots like Munnar, which is considered Kashmir of South India.

The club Mahindra resort in Munnar is just lovely. You get a lovely view from the balcony of your room. The rooms are comfortable and spacious; the bathrooms were spacious and had hot running water. The food is very delicious. They serve South Indian delicacies and I enjoyed the food very much. Most of the food had coconut added to it, giving it additional taste.
