Kent Best Vacuum Cleaner for Home
Dec 28, 2017 03:06 PM

I was looking for an efficient vacuum cleaner for my home that would make cleaning easy. After comparing multiple vacuum cleaners from various companies, I zeroed in on Kent’s vacuum cleaner. What helped me decide on Kent’s vacuum cleaner were the features it offered in comparison to other vacuum cleaners for home. Features that are unique to Kent vacuum cleaner are the HEPA filters that lower the dust discharge from the cleaner. Its cyclonic technology is powerful enough to help remove dust particles, and it isn’t very noisy either. All in all, it is worth every penny spent.

Good experience with the first vacuum cleaner
Oct 03, 2017 03:59 PM

I wanted to buy a vacuum cleaner for a long time but the price of vacuum cleaners was not in my budget. Someone suggested me to buy Kent Cyclonic vacuum cleaner because it is affordable and effective. Frankly speaking, it is better than I expected it to be. It has a powerful suction that cleans most of the dust. What is one of the best features about it is that it produces less noise so others in the home do not get disturbed with it. And being lightweight, it is easy to maneuver. The vacuum cleaner cleans the house and makes it complete dust and dirt free. For all that it offers it is more affordable than the others available in the market. They do not offer the quality cleaning that Kent vacuum cleaner does. I highly recommend this to everyone looking to buy a new vacuum cleaner.

Ease to handle
May 04, 2017 12:32 PM

Hi friends, today I would like to share few tips on vaccum cleaner. First of all, a good vaccum cleaner should be easy to handle. It means that it should not be too much heavy and bulky. it should be little lighter so it makes our work easy.

Second point is it should be of a good company.atleast it should have a good warranty period as these products are quite expensive so warranty is must.

Next is that it would not make too much noise, it irritates sometimes.

Another point is that the motor of the vaccum cleaner should be of a very good quality. Everything depends on the motor only.

Also it should have a indicator which indicates us to clean the dirt bag.

Easy to clean
Jul 12, 2015 05:35 PM

Black & Decker gets a lot of things right with the 36V Max Lithium Stick with ORA Technology. This vacuum cleaner is lightweight and maneuverable, it transforms into a hand vacuum cleaner, all of the pieces come apart quickly for easy maintenance.

Yet it still feels sturdy and can stand on its own when put together. I have now use the Black & Decker vacuum cleaner in my home.  I hoped Black & Decker's fancy battery might instead gain an advantage in the length of its run time. While vacuuming.

The battery indicator will give me a sense of how much longer I have before needing a recharge. Its really workable & not so expensive. It is very easy to use & its helped me to kept my house clean. The fact that it all comes apart so easily actually works against it when it comes to compartmentalizing dirt, and I frequently found sand and dust had leaked from the dustbin through the filter and onto the foam engine cover.

The manual given along with the unit does not carry details of manufacturer nor service centre address. Having purchase for about Rs 7000/- it is lying waste for me. Can any one suggest any service centre / spare parts centre for th9is product in Bangalore/ Chennai?

Buying A Vacuum Cleaner?
Apr 08, 2013 04:11 PM

At the onset, let me make it clear that this write-up is Indo-centric.  It is written keeping in mind the general spectrum of canister / cylinder type of vacuum cleaners(Eureka-Forbes, Inalsa, Philips, LG, PAnasultansonic, Sogo, Croma, Nova, Black & Decker, Morphy-Richards etc.), available to the Indian middle-class.  The write-up does not delve into the upright or the robotic type of vacuum cleaners popular elsewhere.

For the record, canister type of vacuum cleaners are those where a flexible plastic hose is attached to a wheeled *dabba* that contains motor and dust-filters.  The suction surface itself is at the other end of the hose, away from the *dabba*.

The power ratings of domestic vacuum cleaners in India are often advertised as between 1200 to 2200 watts.  Amusingly, most of these vacuum cleaners come only with a 5 Ampere wall plug that can support upto 1100 watts @ 220 volts.  Companies also tout about the advantages of bagless versus bagged, cyclonic versus direct-suction, multi-cyclonic versus cyclonic, so on and so forth.

The fact remains that a few of them import vacuum cleaners from China dime a dozen, and stamp their brand names on them. In fact, one can exercise some due diligence and buy a Chinese unbranded vacuum cleaner quite cheaply in India.  If the eye-candy is your priority, the Chinese ones, whether unbranded or branded, do look like machines from the space-age.

That not withstanding, the final test for any vacuum cleaner is about how well it sucks the dust. Just for comparision, Henry HVR 200A, which is a much loved vacuum cleaner in the U.K., and known for its power and durability(machines lasting 20 years are not uncommon), is quite an eye-sore, and sports only a 1200 watt motor.

The motor inside a vacuum cleaner is essentially a pump, pumping out air in this case.  Therefore, suction power of a canister vacuum cleaner is expressed in terms of pressure units.  These pressure units can be millimeters of water column / Kilo Pascals / air watts.  Mind you, the measurement of suction is always to be done at the suction surface, i.e., *end of the hose* without the nozzles & attachments.  Some companies measure the suction close to the motor and report very high suction(which can be twice as much as the suction at the end of the hose).

But that is plain cheating. Design and Constructionguru30 of the motor, type of filters(paper / cloth / HEPA), number of filters, length of the air-path from the motor to the suction surface, bends in the air-path, and whether there are any leaks in the air-path, all have a bearing on the measured suction.  Consequently, a vacuum cleaner with higher power consumption can have less suction power, and vice-versa.

Leaving aside the technicalities, it suffices to say that for effective cleaning, a cylinder vacuum cleaner will need around 220 air watts.  While converting air watts into Kilo Pascals is a complicated business, about 22 Kilo Pascals or 2200 millimeters water column of suction power would do well for a domestic vacuum cleaner.  Just to give you a comparision, Henry HVR 200A mentioned above has a honest suction power of 229 air watts.  But companies in India advertising between 300-400 air watts suction for their vacuum cleaners is not uncommon.

In India, it is easier to employ a maid to sweep and mop the floors every day than to go around the house with a vacuum cleaner. Therefore, the use of your domestic vacuum cleaner would mostly be limited to the areas which the maid cannot readily clean, i.e., seat cushions, bed mattresses, carpets in the drawing room etc.  Cleaning seat cushions, bed mattresses and carpets is again not going to be a daily activity.

Even the hygiene conscious ones amongst us do not vacuum them every day, which means that your vacuum cleaner is not going to be used every day.  For this limited purpose, you do not need space-age technology.  All that is to be kept in mind is the handiness of the vacuum cleaner, and its true suction power.  Further, for all you know, out of all the plasticky attachments that are doled out with a domestic vacuum cleaner, you would eventually be using only the upholstery brush, the carpet brush, and the crevice-nozzle.

Attachments such as  paint spray-can would simply gather dust in your attic till you loose them in your next house-shifting.  So don't bother yourself too much about the number of attachments that come with the vacuum cleaner.  Just make sure that the wands(extension tubes) that come with the unit are telescopic and interlocking so that they don't come apart while vacuuming, which can be quite irritating(happens with the BPL-Sanyo vacuum cleaners).  In any case, if you need them, you can buy generic attachments that fit any vacuum cleaner quite cheaply on Ebay.

Coming to the technology part itself, even though they are an “old technology, ” vacuum cleaners that employ disposable paper bags as filters are the most hygienic.  The dust that gets settled in the paper bag does not get unsettled during the disposal process.  The bag is only to be zipped and thrown into the dust-bin.  The only rider here is that the bags have to be easily and cheaply available.

Compare the above to the vacuum cleaners that employ cloth-filters.  Dust that gets unsettled while emptying them spreads around in the house again, and washing the cloth-filter is even more messier.

Folks also seem to have taken a fancy for the bagless vacuum cleaners these days(LG & Croma advertise the "bagless" part prominently).  But the so called “bagless” vacuum cleaners too are not totally maintenance-free.  They may not have bags, but they have filters that ensure that the dust does not enter the motor, or that it does not escape through the exhaust in to the room.  These filters need maintenance, either by way of replacement or through washing them periodically.

One new technology that has entered the vacuum cleaner market in India recently is the cyclonic technology.  This technology employs cyclonic precipitators wherein the suspended particles in the air are separated and compacted using centrifugal force of a wind-tornado.  Imagine a tornado inside a mixie-jar; a cyclonic precipitator is something akin to that.  The jar can then be emptied out.

The advantage of this technology is that suction power is maintained despite the gradual dust build up in the jar during vacuuming, which is not the case with direct-suction models. However, the effectiveness of cyclonic vacuum cleaners depends upon the number of cyclones that are being employed.

Nova has a model that employs a single cyclone, Sogo has one that employs two(one for fine dust, another for hair etc.), and there are Chinese unbranded ones that employ upto sixteen cyclones. Needless to say, more the cyclones, more is the price. I have a feeling that this technology has not fully matured as of now. So it is worth waiting till it becomes cheaper and more efficient hellokids emerge in the market.

I hope this information helps you in your next purchase decision. Happy vacuuming!

Please stay away from H2O STEAM MOP X5
Jan 13, 2013 03:50 PM

Like few others, I was fascinated by the ad shown on Telebrands and went on to buy H2O STEAM MOP X5 and honestly, I have not been so disappointed with any product. It does not clean any tough stains on the floor. If you try to remove the stains at the edges of tiles, you will end up removing the cement between them, but the stains remain where they are.

I bought it for 8990 a year back and now I see that its being sold for 3990 which clearly suggests that nobody's been buying it and you shouldn't as well. I have no more words to describe how worthless it has been spending a huge amount for a silly product.

H2O X5 Steam Mop
Jun 20, 2012 07:07 PM

I was in testing mode from 6 months. Finally I thought I should give my thoughts here. When I bought I did not find any reviews in India, I found some on Amazon.com, but they are not applicable in Indian context. But I bought it, just out of my fascination for that infomercial. Impulsive buying, not an informed decision. I hope my review might help someone to save their money.

Firstly, I lived in USA for 10+ yrs. I am a cleaning freak, I tried all the new cleaning products in USA. I am settled in India now. In US, there is not much dust. In India, there is so much dust everywhere. I did not put any maid, I do everything on my own, so when I bought this, I was hoping all my cleaning will be done magically.

Few things first. This mop does not leave water on the floor, as many were complaining. I put the steam in minimum and was using this, so I never saw water on the floor, it dried instantly without even a fan. Also I could vacuum a big living room, a dining, and a big kitchen without refilling. Whenever I clean, it feels really clean.

But it does not clean'hard to clean' spots on the floor. You have to use some cleaning product for it to clean a hard spot. I have marble floor and it has a tendency to trap the dirt and it changes its color. When I bought this mop, marble cleaning was the only thing on my mind. But I am very disappointed to see that it did not help even 1% in cleaning my marble. I can say, if any stain is few days old, may be it will go. But not otherwise. When you use the hose or small hole with iron brush on the marble, its damaging the marble. Even if it helped, there is no way, I can clean a duplex house floor with that small attachment.

I used the other attachment, which is round and cloth is on that. I have metallic decolum in my kitchen, I used this attachment on the doors, inside and out, and it really cleaned well. But again few drawbacks. We tend to push it a little hard when there is stain, but if we do that, its putting light scratches on the metal decolum. So next time, I was careful and was gentle, so its ok. Other drawback is, you have to hold it to the sides or down. If you hold it up, some how the steam drop falls on your hands, which really burns your skin. Anyway I bought it and I cannot return it in India, I am figuring out ways to use it, at least once in a while.

To use any attachment, you have to carry the water compartment. I wish there is little stand to hold it. This makes it really useless, to use the attachments comfortably.

Main drawback(in my case) is, after using the mop for 15min or so, I get either severe neck pains or knee pains. This happened every time I used it. I wanted to make sure about this, that's why I waited 6months to write this review. We pay double the cost in India, Rs.9990, compared to$90 in US.

I will not recommend this to any one. Instead, I would wait for automatic vacuum cleaners, which will clean and mop on their own. In US, these are not yet matured, almost every review I read, they had to exchange theirs in the first year, since we wont have that option in India, its better to wait 1 or 2 years.

Works on wet/dry surface + no dust bags!!!
May 30, 2010 04:07 PM

Mine is a duplex vac 14 wet/dry vacuum cleaner with walter filtration system. The fact that it has water filtration system, makes it work well for me as I have asthma and so are my kids. The good thing about wet/dry vacuum cleaners is that there is absolutely no dust coming out of the machine no matter how hard you run it over any dusty surface. I tried it on a carpet with dry mud all over and it worked perfectly fine.

I used to do this carpet with a normal vacuum cleaner before, but I just couldn’t stand the dust coming out of it. This thing right here is a life-saver! It works even on extremely dusty surfaces like outdoor floors with zero dust flying around. It is fairly light, maybe even lighter than normal vacuum cleaners. Very stable and will not tumble very easily, so you can just drag it around easily. Plus, say goodbye to dust bags! Cleaning this baby is as easy as pouring water out of it! This duplex vac 14 is a great bang for the buck!

FREQUENT Q& A
Oct 16, 2009 11:56 AM

*The normal conventional cleaning methods adopted anyway give me a perfectly clean home!!! There is barely any dust inside. Is there a need of deep cleaning anyway?** Dusting, sweeping and swabbing are the most commonly adopted methods to keep one's house clean.

But doeanliness alone ensure a hygienic place? No, not at all!!! All the conventional methods only help displace the dust but the smaller particles cannot be picked up and there is poor dust collection. The residual dust in the air causes allergy.

Further a wet swabbed floor attracts dust particles which help bacteria breed further. More so it is incomplete and time consuming. Isn’t it? **Can dusting the house result in allergy?** Did you know that your home is filled with millions of dust mites? Dust Mites are microscopic organisms, which help keep on multiplying in thousands.

They are so tiny that 1 gram of dust would contain 19000 of these bugs which release a potent 'allergen' triggering off allergies such as Asthma, Eczema and Rhinitis!!! No wonder you end up with a dust allergy!!! **Do the dust mites affect the other members of the house too, who are not involved in cleaning and dusting?** YES!!! Apart from just the visible dust, the dust mites are present in the sofas, curtains, carpets and every other place you could think of.

Did you know that the bed where your child sleeps too has millions of these creatures? Dust mites are dangerous bugs which affects almost each and every member of the household. **Which are the other possible hazardous areas of the house?** The filters of your room air conditioner, the refrigerator, the woolen blankets... each one of them are possible sources of fungal infection, which can spread to your entire house, if not taken care of.

Eureka Forbes - Unable to provide user manual
Oct 31, 2008 10:45 AM

I had purchased a Eureka Forbes Swift ZXI vacuum cleaner in March 2008 from eZone at City Center Mall in Hyderabad. Unfortunately, I did not inspect all the contents of the package and after a few weeks, realized that I could not find the user manual. Anyway, I thought it should be easy to get a replacement user manual - a soft copy / online version would be even better! I could not find the soft copy on their website.

I then raised 2 online tickets over the next few days but with no response. Then I went via the call center and finally reached the person who is supposed to serve the 'channel sales'. The support person was kind enough to raise a complaint number (2567). Over the next few months, I kept on following up on this complaint number but the response was pretty much the same - we are trying to get the manual. I wonder why it was so tough to just post or mail the soft version if the hard copy was not available.

Next I hunted down the email id of a specific officer for the local area and sent a mail to her (early September 2008), while CC'ing their corporate support mail id. She was kind enough to respond back promptly saying that she will raise it to corporate and have either the hard copy or soft copy sent over. Even after one more follow-up a few days later, the story was the same.

So now it is the last day of October, with more than seven months since I purchased that vacuum cleaner, but I still do not have the user manual. Not that I have had any problem with the vacuum cleaner, but due to lack of the user manual, I have had problems in understanding how to use certain attachments, to clean/replace bags, or to troubleshoot.

Follow-Up Note: Since writing this reviewing and reminding Eureka Forbes of this review, I have received the user manual hard copy. Thanks Eureka Forbes!!!

Never buy any product from Eureka Forbes
Aug 13, 2008 09:39 AM

I had a very bad experience with the Eureka Forbes people and not only once - the count has raised to three times now.

First time, I bought Aquaguard - the product is fine and the sales people will definitely make it look more lucrative offer but then they will make you run behind them to get those lucrative offers. I doubt if there sales service is good enough as I have not see a single person turning up again to check if it is working fine. This I would consider a small issue. The next one is:

Second time, I bought Vacuum Cleaner. I was told that a proper training would be given to you and even to my maid and the sales person promised that he will be there to give the training. He also promised me to give coupons for free servicing and blaah blaah blaah.

Thirdly one of my friend bought Aquaguard. The person delivered the product to him. But it is now 2 months and the product is not yet installed. So please don't believe on all these salespersons and their sayings.

Dyson DC-07 Animal is junk!
Dec 29, 2006 04:10 AM

Two years to the day the warranty ran out the vac went to heck.  Dyson has it's own service people and they couldn't fix it after many attempts - they want to keep working on it.  Don't waste your money.  Too heavy, doesn't suck as well as my Electrolux at ALL and way too expensive for what you get.  ALL you get is their glitzy marketing....buy an Electrolux if you can afford it.

The Dyson support team is nice but that doesn't give me a good product.  Ads say the vacs never lose suction...well, suction ain't all that hot to begin with so there isn't much to lose!  Very, very heavy vac and the accessories are all but useless  to try and use.  Very poor design to this whole product line.  I am just sick I spent so much money on a vacuum because I have lots of dogs and was pulled in by their advertising.  Stay away!
