Chingari, Camp, Pune Reviews

Great restaurant with jaw dropping ambiance
Mar 01, 2018 11:24 PM 749 Views

If you love enjoying evenings, you would not find a better place than this. A place with the best ambiance with outdoor rooftop arrangements beside a pool and dim lightning . If you are wishing for a perfect date, then this is the perfect place for this. The food and drink both were up-to the expectation . The staffs are really sober towards the customers . The staff service is also fast and the best part is staffs ask for your feedback about the food . The place is great value for money as you will not regret going there and trying those perfect North-Indian dishes there.

Flames of Elegance !!

Chingari is a roof top restaurant on the 9th floor of Le Meridien, Pune.'Elegant' is the word when you think of its ambience. the place is adjacent to the outdoor swimming pool.

The place offers something for each mood type.

If you out on a romantic date then a beautiful evening ambience by the pool with discreet lighting and candles on every table is the place for you. if you want a look of the entire Pune City then the tables at the edges are for you.

The third option is a wooden shack type where the seating area is covered by a high wooden roof and separated from the pool by beautiful open latticework screens. An open-air kitchen gives guests a prime view of whats cooking inside. they offer North Indian Cuisine with not many variations. traditional dishes but the taste is what sets them apart.

For starters we ordered Chicken Galafi Kebabs(mildly spiced chicken mince kebab, crisp on the outside but maintained the juices and moisture inside) Murgh Achari Tikka(pickled boneless chicken pieces with a smoky flavour) Main course started with Chicken khada masala(indian spices stand out, well blended with the chicken).

Although we were dominantly non-veg but we also tried Dal Chingari(not any typical black dal dish, the staff recommended this saying its cooked overnight for the flavours to infuse in it and you could feel that in every spoon) Roomali Roti and Whole wheat Naan(chefs speciality and something I've never ever seen before, soft and a good accompaniment with the gravies) Gosht Dum Biryani(another of chefs speciality, and it was indeed made differently, with the masala being more on the chicken and less infused in the rice flavoured with saffron milk). for deserts we ordered Gulab Jamuns(two big pieces of them in each potion and the jamun had absorbed the chachni very well) I had read about their unique way of offering finger bowls and indeed it had tea leaves and rose petals infused in the water, a good idea for people having non-veg food to get rid of the typical stickiness and smell on the fingers. the staff is cordial and well mannered offering you great service. pricing is on the higher side but a good place for dining with family and special ones.

Only Chingari no fire!!

*NB: This review is based on Veg food only.

AMBIENCE & DÉCOR: **The only plus point about the restaurant.

Rooftop at Le Meridien is gr8. Place is typically Indian with dim lights and Indian furniture to go along. The chairs could have been more comfy with some cushioning but the appeal is pretty simple. Evenly spread out and private, so good for couples.

Not overcrowded, but reservations are a must if ur going in large numbers on weekends.

SERVICE:The staff is well mannered, courteous and they do not crowd upon you. Typical Indian dressing for the Staff, which is appealing.

The Bar is well kept and the bar tender looked thorough, though I did not try it out.

FOOD: I went there as it was rated the Best North Indian Restaurant by Times Food Guide recently.

All I say is that even the roadside Udupi restaurant dishes out better Punjabi food.

Starters: Paneer Methi Kabab- less salt.no paneer taste n quantity just 4 pieces.so u have to order 2 if ur 3 people

Veg Diwani Handi: yucks- Tomato based gravy was more like a sweet puree. Badly cut n half boiled vegetables.Imagine French Beans n Carrots which u cant swallow.

Veg Biryani:Horrrible.no spices no flavour just colored rice.

Desserts were good with Kulfi Falooda and Rasmalai being very tasty.

VALUE FOR MONEY

Not at all with all dishes priced around 300-400/- and the quantity being insufficient.

Ofcourse the taste is disgusting.

CONCLUSION:With a 5-star rating to Le Meridien the prices are ok.

But u cant say the Chef is having a bad day if u have to maintain the standard of the Best

North Indian Restaurant in Pune.

Go only if u like trying different restaurants and if ur a Ambience Lover.

Its actually ideal for a romantic evening for couples sans the food of course.
