Cervinia

Cervinia is a small heavenly abode located along the italian-swiss border, and a popular Alps village as Mont Blanc.

This place is accessible thro' number of buses from nearby city , Aosta . The bus takes u thro' some of the most interior villages and is a delight to watch the cool, relaxing pace of life in these part of the world, the lush green clean sparkling environ, simple yet one of those santa-claus-comic-strip type architectures of the houses, those amul-chocolate-ad cows. All these things enhanced by the snow capped mountains, picturesque valleys,..and finally u land at ur destination cervinia, which is just couple of feet below and away from swiss border.

This place is popular b'coz of the safe as well adventurous skiing places available in and around the nearby plateau called Plateau Rosa high up in those alps ranges. One half of this plateau is in Italy and another in Swiss , but absolutely no restriction for anybody to crossover to any half . All sort of skiing equipments are available for hire , and for a beginner like me , can just keep gliding the gentle slopes whole day long, watching the pro's enjoying their stylish acrobats and deep descents from the steep slopes.

Real skii lovers can enjoy some cross country skiing to Mt.Zermatt in the neighbouring Swiss. The surrounding view from this plateau would leave anyone breathless. Next returning to the small resort village, do make it a point to taste some of the traditional local flavours like crispy farinata, wine, unempteem varities of breads, complimentary swiss chocs,pizzas etc,etc..Also lots of options available for accomodation with more or less same price range. Never miss out to peep out from your cosy hotel window in the early hours of chilly morning to have a view of those misty alp peaks and those fluffy snow flakes .

I had visited this place in the summer, but the photos of this place during winter(peak tourist season here), which showed the the stony pavements , roads, nearby church, my hotel all covered with thick blanket of snow , was really unbelieveable.

Dont miss out to visit the nearby chill out places in the night in one of those pub cum discotec cum live band, where small population of local guys n gals ,(invariably everybody seems to know everybody) just keep jumping onto the stage and joining the karoke , belting out some popular and classic Italian tunes whole night long.
