Capone customer service pathetic
Sep 02, 2017 02:43 PM 1214 Views (via Android App)

Hi I wanted to share my dissatisfaction which I had with Capone customer service associates when I was in UK.

I had a Capital one credit card when I was staying in UK. Their customer service is so pathetic because the customer service is been outsourced to some other country where in they doesn't have a proper neutral accent. I had a late payment fee of £12 which was applied due to previous month interest charges, I called the service team to remove it but the guy didn't understand me and he disconnected the call rudely. I upset because it damaged my credit file for not my mistake. I was totally dissatisfied and

closed my account writing them.

Cap one has been good to me
Apr 30, 2010 08:17 AM 2039 Views

I want to write a positive review of Cap One because they have been good to me. I declared bankruptcy 3 years ago and I have 2 part-time jobs. Then one-and-a-half years ago I got the offer from Cap One. My original credit line was $500, then $750 after 6 months. Then they sent me a used-auto-loan offer (which I took, at 6.5%) , then my credit line jumped to $4, 750.

I am never late and I like being able to check my balance online plus they send me emails when payments are made and when I purchase something over $40. So, like I said, Cap One has been good to me!

CAPITAL ONE IS A TRAP!!

That you never get rid of, no matter what you pay. It is on your credit

reports forever. I got one in 1996, With a $300 limit. I paid up front

money to get it but I didn't know it because it was put on my card

before I received it. I had 1/2 of the $300.00 limit when it arrived in

the mail. If that was not bad enough, this nightmare card was just

beginning. Interest rates were up and down, pay due dates changed

constantly. they added insurance on you card without telling you.

Your statement amount would not go down no matter how much you paid

them they would double bill you, and if you were ever late you could get charged

$75.00 to 150.00 in one month not including your payment.

i finally paid it off....i thought. 2 years later I got a notice form them, and calls

saying I owed $1500.00, this on a $300.00 limit credit card. What ever you

do stay away from this card. it's 2008, and I am still seeing this appear on

my credit reports. I can't get rid of them. HELP!!!

Can YOU control your spending?????

Yes like those who already wrote on credit cards I too have to admit that I took advantage of the great world of credit. I was like “WOW” I can get a credit card now, and therefore I just keep applying and applying until I had like 7 credit cards. Most were department store cards, but I did have a Capital One Visa and some gas cards too. I thought I was hot shi* with these cards, and I never thought twice to just whip them out and pay for things. I always said that if I got a credit card I would be able to handle it properly and only use the major cards when I needed something major, or something unexpected come up with automobile repair.

Capital One was always great to me. I never had problems with this company, and when I was late making my payments I would of course get the late payment added to my account. I believe it was around an extra $25 dollars if late. That of course is my fault not the companies. When I called the service department I was always welcomed with a friendly assistant. They helped me out with my problem and they even tried to help me lower my payments every month. So I was doing good, but then I feel upon some hard times and I was using the card for stupid things instead of watching what I was doing.

Then when it was time to pay my monthly payment of only $50 dollars (which wasn’t much) I would seem to always come up with some sort of reason to put the payment off for another week and then I would just start getting behind in my payments until the point that I stop paying all together. For several months I didn’t pay my bill, (really there was no reason for it) and I kept getting letters from the company telling me that if I didn’t pay this bill they would have to put it against my credit and therefore make a bad mark on my credit report. Well at that time I didn’t really care because I was young and I figured so what!

So yes the company after trying several times to get me to pay finally put it on my credit report and then a collection agency tried to collect upon that debt. I just blew them off too and never paid. I was stupid to do this because every year that the account wasn’t up to date it was adding up late charges and finance charges out the bu**. Now instead of having a debt of just $500 dollars it is now a total of $1000.00 dollars. It doubled now.

Well the other day I got this letter in the mail from Capital One saying that If we agree to pay $50.00 dollars a month towards our back amount they would give us a new credit card. But the thing is that the credit card would only have a credit limit of $1.00 dollar. I had to laugh at first until I read on. They said they would stop all charges on the back amount and after we paid $100.00 towards the account they would in return add $50 extra dollars to our good credit limit. I thought that was a rather good deal. It was helping them out, plus helping our credit out. So I took them up on their deal and yes they did send me a new credit card. I figured that I needed to start working on my bad credit so that one-day soon my husband and I can build a house. So with a new card and paying off a bad credit that will look good in our reports. So I was very pleased with Capital One and how they gave us this deal.

Like I said before it wasn’t the company that was bad to me, in stead it was I who was bad to them. They did deserve their money and I wasn’t paying, so they had to take action and they did. I don’t hold any bad feelings towards the business. I am also proud to say that I now have a Capital one in my wallet. I have also learned from past mistakes about how to manage your credit cards, and this time it will be a whole new situation. I have grown up!

Yes all credit card companies are seeking those college students and they make it so easy for them to get their hands on one. I’m sure they know that some are not able to control their spending and they don’t care. This isn’t just Capital One, its all credit card companies that do this! I think students should be very cautious of credit cards and seek advice from their parents who might be able to guide them in their financial matters. But also remember its up to you to act responsible for your spending and when you can’t make those payments then you were the one who didn’t act responsible, not the company!

Don't Fall Into The Capital One Trap

I'm not writing this review to get money. This one I'd really like to get out. I want people to know to stay away from this card or at least be very careful when using it. Its my first credit card, I'm a college student. Right now all I can do is thank my parents for helping me to get out of the problems this card caused me.

First of all, they put their ads all over my college campus to entice all the young to get this card. All the ads just are a mess and only thing they do is produce more garbage. One of the first gimmicks they have for you to join is that they will give you a free 6 month subscription to a magazine. So I got entertainment weekly for 6 months. I then called them and sent them a letter 1 month before to cancel the subscription. Both of my cancellations were avoided. Next thing Ii know, they are charging me for a magazine I cancelled on a month before. They had me pay the full retail price for it. To top things off I had spent about 180 bucks. The limit was 200 dollars. They then put a 30 dollar charge for the magazines (that I didnt even want) on top of my credit bills. Which means I was now at 205 bucks. After this they added on a 25 dollar penalty immediately because I had gone over the limit by buying a magazine I didnt even want! After calling them numerous times (and even getting laughed in the face) I finally yelled enough and threated to do something about this, that they removed the magazine bill.

Another thing that bothered me is that, let's say I had gotten my credit up to 190 dollars. I got the bill and I paid it immediately. 1 week later I spent some more money and they told me they added last months bill to this months bill because they still had not recieved my check! So now a one month credit of 200 dollars had turned into a 2 month 200 dollar credit limit! I again got charged for going over my limit even though I had paid it off already for the month before.

I'm glad to write about this so that others can know not to involve themselves with this credit card. If you have kids in college they will probably get bombarded with ads for this card. Just watch what they do.

I Have a Major Credit Card!

My credit stinks.

I started out getting department store and gas credit cards when I turned 18. If I saw an application, I filled it out and I was approved! Great right?

Wrong. I got in way over my head, and 15 years later I still had not recovered from my bad credit ratings. I couldn't get any type of credit anywhere.

A friend told me me about Capital One®. I applied, and to my surprise, I was accepted and approved for a $500 credit line.

Capital One® is a secured credit card. That means that in order to receive credit, you send them a security deposit of $99. You may make this in one payment, or divide it up into smaller payments. This security deposit is held for you, drawing interest. You are not PAYING them for the card. If you get behind on your payments, the $99 and the interest it accrued may be used as a partial payment towards your balance. If after a length of time you wish to have your card unsecured, the $99 and interest will be mailed to you if you are approved for that.

The Annual Percentage Rate is a fixed rate of 19.8%. This is a little steep when you compare it to the 12% to 15% of most other credit cards, but it was worth it to me to have a chance of re-establishing my credit line. The Minimum Finance Charge for each billing period is a minimum of $0.50.

If you keep your account in good standing by making your payments on time and not going over your spending limit, the increases will come fast and automatically! You will not have to apply for a credit increase. The higher your credit line, the stronger your overall credit rating will become.

The minimum payment due is 3% of your outstanding balance, or $10, whichever is greater. I make it a point of always paying MORE than my minimum payment in order to keep finance charges at the lowest I can.

Capital One® really tries to help you re-establish your credit. They reward you for keeping your account in good standing, and they also penalize you if you either a) make a late payment or b) go over your credit limit. Both of these charge you a fee of $25.

I applied online for my credit card at https://capitalone.com . If a secured credit card is not for you, they have many others to choose from such as:

Platinum Card

Gold Card

College Student Card

High School Student Card

Small Business Card

Miles One Card

Visa® Buxx Card

I couldn't be happier with my Capital One card. Their customer service department is one of the best I have ever dealt with, and I am anxiously awaiting my credit line increase! It feels so good to have a major credit card, and no one ever has to know it is secured!

Annual Percentage Rate: A fixed rate of 19.8%

Grace Period: 25 days

Annual Membership Fee: $39 (taken from your credit balance)

Minimum Finance Charge: $0.50

Cash Advance Fee: 2.5% of the cash advance, not less than $2.50

This card has teeth

Background:

In today’s world where 90 percent of your buying power is linked to your credit history if you don’t have some sort of credit card your spending power is extremely limited. As a result I chose to apply for this card after American Express turned me down. To my pleasure I was promptly accepted and given a credit limit £500. This I thought was a manageable amount for a first credit card. About ten months after the issue of the card there was one month where I could not pay the full balance off. When the bill came in I was shocked to find the amount of interest was almost thirty per cent of the actual payment to be made. As a result it took nearly six months to clear the balance. As a result I terminated the account and am now quite happy with my Royal Bank of Scotland Advanta card.

Appalling expensive for those who cannot make the full payment even for one month but if managed correctly this card can really help improve both your credit rating and more importantly teach you the discipline to manage your virtual money as it were. I certainly am happy to recommend the card if want to use it to these ends.

It presents a real danger to low income families who may not even begin to be able to think about making full payments as they will get into trouble using this card ridiculously quickly. It could really compound the problems they are already facing so I would definitely warn them off.

Customer service:

The customer service team for this card seem to have got their act together as whenever I rang they were polite, helpful and most of all knowledgeable about the product. Too often you will contact the customer service team after 15 minutes in a call queue to be greeted with the prospect of being transferred to a specialist team for the individual problem which if you are anything like me is rather frustrating.

As a result of my experience I would have to warn anybody considering using this card that it is a wolf in sheeps clothing.
