One Time Password(OTP) Always Sent 2 Hours Late!

Whenever I try to use net banking facility, the one time password which is supposed to arrive by sms reaches me 2 hours late! This is so even when my mobile has good network coverage.


Any transaction expires in 5 minutes. Their net banking facility is a joke! The online interface is very poorly made too.

Applied for username password for net banking 3 times. No response.


Manager worried about my asking loans or funds or Lc's despite being a successful entrepreneur and over 3 years in a particular bank.


I am an Importer-exporter. The bank allows me to do whatever banking with my own money FD's etc; No support or even plain cooperation from manager to watchman.


Its time, consumers give them a quick KITA and choose some other bank, any bank other than Canara bank!

Worst Netbanking facility from Canara Bank. Very difficult to use and lot of authentication process. Cansure is very complicate service. For those people are traveling and moving on business cannot access their accounts using this.

Very Very Very Poor Netbanking facility from Canara bank. Horrible to use.  too many passwords, that's okay but navigation, ease of use is not at all good. There is no proper messages displayed on every action/event performed.


Too many times have to keep typing passwords, will test your patience definitely.

I and an NRI and have 3 accounts(NRE, SB and Can Champ) with TIPTUR branch and I have been a Customer of Canara Bank since 22 yrs.


My complaint is:


a. Since 4 yrs Tiptur Branch is unable to provide me a proper LOGIN ID and PASSWORD. Write to them on email and there is no response.


b. "CANSECURE" is completely a ridiculous thought put in to provide Customer Service. It is oriented to housewife and home bound customers only. People traveling and moving on business cannot access their accounts using this.


c. Overall, in comparison to other banks where I had accounts and have operated the internet banking facility, Canara Bank stands the worst.


Eg. of banks I had accounts: SBI, Corporation Bank, Syndicate Bank, National Bank of Oman, Saudi British Bank, Bank Muscat, Qatar National Bank, Doha Bank.


Canara Bank is happy in running shows in televisions with the profit earned by customers, but not to keep the customers happy. I have almost switched my remittance to other branches and Canara Bank account is a memorabilia to me.


I wish Canara Bank Management and the IT Team for their innovative technology to keep customer at bay.

This bank provide a Cansecure software for use of online banking securely, but the application is very disgusting one and also not working properly. here I can not able to transfer money so I have no any benefit of having net banking facility.

Very poor service. 4 hours wasted in 3 days just to close an account. No response from bank employees to old people standing in queue. It was a poor representation of respect to elder people. People who cannot fight refrain from opening an account in this bank. They do not value our precious time.


My experience:


Had to close an account since I was not using it. Had received a letter from them that  if I do not close the account by due date, they would  freeze the money.


Day 1: Saturday: They do not see your face after 11:00 am. And talk rudely.


Day 2: Wednesday: They do not see your face again during working hours. Token is given after requesting 10 times. Old people would face lot of problems since you need to have a loud voice to request for a token. I can see total mismanagement since queue for opening and closing account are the same.


Seems people sitting in the bank are not educated enough to handle things or they are not managed well by their boss. Do not know whom to blame. Had to wait for 2.4  hours just to submit an application.


Day 3: Thursday (after a week): They do not see your face again. Did not keep the DD ready even after a weeks time since they thought  closing account balance had to be paid in cash while it was clearly mentioned in the application. Again waited for 1 hour to get the DD since they work on their will. Again no respect given the customer.


Finally closed the account. I am sure this happens in all their branches. I experienced this in Malad West branch.

Margao Goa Branch - Horrible Bank!!!!

I have two accounts in Canara Bank Margao Goa branch. I do not live in India, so can not operate them by going to the branch. I asked for internet access in June 2012. I was told to send in all the papers which I did. After that I never heard anything from the bank about the subject and till now did not get internet access.


In February, I tried to get in touch with the bank manager on phone. First the lady on the phone slammed down the phone saying that she has no time to talk. I contacted the headquarters in Bangalore and then suddenly the Margao branch manager replied to my email. Now, since March 9, I am trying to close down my accounts.


They gave me a list of documents they need for this and told me that they will accept scanned pdf copies on email. Since March 9, I have made numerous attempts to send the copies and every time, I ask them if the documents reached, they tell me that they haven't received anything.


I asked them for alternate email along with a fax number to send the documents and I get a complete silence from them. Yesterday, I have again written to the headquarters and have asked for their help in closing the account and no answer form them yet.


I am fed up with the bank and do not want to have to do anything with it anymore. All I want is that they let me close down my accounts, so that I can take my business elsewhere!

The most pathetic bank you can deal with. Especially the kalina branch. I think they should shut down business OR hire a new crew.


Not even sensitive to people who dont understand too much of banking and need help nor to Senior Citizens . They need to understand the meaning of SERVICE to begin with !!!

We have current AC with CANARA BANK Toiladungri  jamshedpur jharkhand. Our AC no is 1970201000495 our PASSWOR IS NIZAM495. We are doing banking with Canara bank since April 2000. We have applied for internet banking last June 2011. We have got our password on march 2012.But we are unable to do the transaction still. We have followup lot of time to branch but we got only instruction kam ho raha hai  but we never got result.

We tried to withdraw Rs 25000 on 15th Feb but we did not get the amount and slip from ATM but the same was debited from our account, Now bank is saying that the amount is taken by is they have not given us any proof for the same


This is the worst service that I have ever used in my life


My strong recommendation PLEASE BEWARE of canara bank as it can loot money like this.


Please spread the same to every one so that no one else should get cheated as I have:-(

This is to answer to you query  REV Chettri if u haven't received your password that means first you will have to check with your branch if CORRECT AND COMPLETE ADDRESS IS UPDATED OR NO EVEN THOUGH YOU HAVE ALREADY RECEIVED the user id courier "


If the address is properly updated please ask the branch manager to send the reset request to ban galore head office... or you may call up 1800-425-0018 to place a service request which will be  forwarded to your branch.....


Also you may ask the manager sir to arrange for the courier in your base branch and you may go and collect it from there.

Ten years behind other banks

I had the most bitter experience of Banking with Canara bank as it was the only nearest branch for my convenience, after depositing the amount then I realized that I have been duped!! yes literally DUPED!!


the Net banking facility is almost I say "non existent" because the ID has been dispatched on 23rd Nov and I received it by 3rd Dec and it say the PIN or Password will follow on 3 days later and its been 20 days I have not received any thing, in spite of my numerable calls and mails and approaching the bank physically there has been no response. The methods they use are old and conventional, that is why ii say it is still lagging ten years from the other banks, they still have a PASSBOOK, passbook is old now no one has the time to update it..we have Mobile banking and what not for all these things but for them PASSBOOK is mandate...what a joke!!!


Please do something about it ASAP or close it down, its good for nothing!!!


Its high time you renovate and innovate your ideas and come at par with other nationalized banks....

The worst possible bank in India.after suffering for years I closed my account with canara bank kumara park branch.very  very very arrogant staff . They think the bank is their fathers private property.always misbehaves with customers.please don't keep your money in canara bank.


It is over money that we keep in bank  is given as loans , overdraft etc and bank make profit from over money .so stop keeping money in canara bank who treats their customers like.

Really the water level went almost above my head... I don't remember the number of times I went to the Bank just for obtaining a Debit card. Every time I went & returned empty handed with the reply from the concerned bank authority i.e. "Sir Debit Card KHATAM ho gaya hai"... I am afraid as I think this would be the first bank in the world which is consuming around 600 Debit cards in a span of 2 or 3 days... Canara Bank is really great... HATS-OFF to such a great bank. This shows that this bank is having a lot of business... So I think this is not a bank for COMMON PEOPLE.


As till now I am getting the NEGATIVE (-ve) reply from them... Wel I had done a big mistake by opening an account in Canara Bank. Lets c whether I will get the Debit Card in my lifetime only or after that culd be to my nominee or could be even after that...


I strongly recommend u all to have a SAFE DISTANCE from such a Great CANARA Bank...

Canara is a good for nothing Bank! Neither the Customers nor the staff are benefited. Its staff are poorly paid in the industry and they are a demotivated lot.  Myself and my friends joined this Bank as probationary officers with great expectations but only to found that the pay package almost similar to that of State Govt employees.


While other Banks give Rent of 10000 in Metros Canara Bank is providing a paultry sum of 5000. The quarters given to the officers is worst! Better not to join this bank!

Top Reason: You can't withdraw amount from your own account without cheque or passbook.


One day I was urgently in need of money that was an emergency situation and I was 30 km fare from my home. I forget my debit card in my home. I went to Canara bank and asked for the chelan to withdrawal.


They told me to bring the passbook. I explained that I was urgently in need of money, but they don’t care about their customer. I also asked them to close the account and give the money. But they replied to bring passbook to close the account.


Even I have money in my account I ask money from my friend. Next day I closed the account and return the money to the friend.


No Net banking...


(Actually they provide net banking username and password, but you can only check you balance, nothing more than that)


New ATM card takes more than 2 month...


ATM password reset takes more that 3 days...


Twice a month their software make trouble, so you cant withdrawal money on that day...


So lazy fellows at work....


No customer relationship...


If you ask any question/doubt, they react nothing. You want to ask same question for more than 2 times to get an answer.


You need to be in the long long long..... Queue to deposit money.

Believe it or not !! After 3 days of writingthe below review at MS, someone from Canara Bank, Andheri called me up and after few days I got a DD from Canara amounting Rs.2500. Seems, there are good professionals in the Banks who do go through reviews about their Bank. These people may be the only reason the Bank is still running and that also in Profit. I can only thank them for returning me at least my principle amount. My only words to the officers who acted will be " Thanks and pls. stay the same – sooner or later you will definitely change this bank to a5 star rated Bank.


Well, was going through MS and came across this word "CANARA". SO HERES MY REVIEW :


The incident happened in October, 2006 and I lost Rs.2500 and that also when I had to board a flight to abroad. Its been 4 yrs now and I have been mailing and writing mails continuously but nothing happened. A General Manager ofReserve Bank of India can reply but a normal officer of Canaracan never. Anyway, tired of sending e-mails and calling here n there, lastly I wrote a letter in hard copy and attached copy of all the e-mails and sent it through courier, spending 300 rupees, it was done just to see, if this can awake them. after 2 months of sending this letter the Canara branch person called me and inquired and later nothing happened. READ THE LETTER AND NOTE THE Cc PART, Still I have not received my lost money. I am hiding all personel details in the below letter :

I have a saving account in your branch vide Account No. 00000030044234128 . This is regarding failed amount withdrawal transaction from ATM of another Bank, wherein the amount was debited from my account and has not been credited.


On 7th October, 2006 , at 7:54 P.M I had used State Bank ATM Card of my account in S. K Puri Branch (A/c No. 00000030044234128) to withdraw Rs. 2500 from Canara Bank ATM, situated at J.B Nagar, Andheri Mumbai. On completing the cash withdrawal process at Canara Bank ATM, the money came out from the ATM machine but due to delay in taking the money from the ATM slot, there was a reversal and the money at the ATM slot rebounded back into the machine for which an amount of Rs. 2500 was debited from my account No. 00000030044234128 in your Branch. I enquired about the debited amount from Canara Bank personals at J.B Nagar and they confirmed that the amount will soon be credited at my account, after a miss has been detected in the ATM. Later, after a day i.e on 8th October, 2009 , I left for Africa due to work demand and so was unable to follow up the issue personally with the bank. Anyhow, I did sent number of e-mails to the Officials of Canara Bank, customer care of State Bank of India and Reserve Bank of India regarding the same but the amount was not credited. Recently, on my arrival at India , I enquired Canara Bank on phone regarding the debited amount and they were unable to give satisfactory reply to my question. I am hereby writing to my home branch S.K Puri to follow up the matter and do the needful by arranging to deposit the debited principle amount of Rs.2500 along with relevant accumulated interest for 3 years. Presently, I am stationed at Pali, district of Rajasthan and hence cannot personally visit the branch at Patna due to my work involvement.


I am sending along with hardcopy of some of my e-mails forwarded to Canara Bank, State Bank of India and Reserve Bank of India . No reply except from Reserve Bank of India has been received by me. Copy of reply from Mrs. Sujatha Elizabeth Prasad, GM, Customer Service Department, Reserve Bank of India is being enclosed for your reference. Also, please find below other details regarding the failed transaction of money withdrawal done at Canara Bank ATM situated in J.B Nagar, Andheri, Mumbai, for your reference and use:

If you want to check your own patience please have an account in Canara Bank and try visiting them for any service and I bet you wouldn't have seen such "LAZY ASSES" in your life. First of all they act as if they are doing a favor by speaking to customers and to top with are their ARROGANCE. I have an account with icici bank as my salary account for more than seven years, NEVER visited the bank and am addicted to all its services and now I feel 100 years back after opening an account with Canara Bank.


First of all they have separate applications for opening an account, for cheque book, Debit card, Internet banking (Net Banking at its worst. Eh!!) . it's been four months since my account is opened and the net banking is yet to be activated. These banks only fit for people in 50+ and not definitely for present generation particularly who are in IT sector.


I am not sure if at all they have a customer care number, but I found a toll free number on the debit card and called them to inquire, and the answer was "call another number after specific time" (forget 24/7).

Is Canara bank's tagline a big fat joke??

"We all change for the ones we love" says the tagline from the Canara bank advertisement. They should change that to "We (i.e. Canara bank) inflict torture on mankind".


Lousy service, arrogant and disinterested staff, absolute disregard to customer grievances etc are some of the key features of the Canara Bank branch in Jayalakshmipuram, Mysore. In June 2009, I had attempted to withdraw Rs.2000/- from a Canara bank ATM in Pondicherry, the machine however dispensed only 500/- (it clearly says so on the receipt too). Couple of days later, I was surprised to find a total of Rs.2000/- debited from my account instead of 500/-!! (thankfully I had retained the withdrawal receipt in my purse!).. so I wrote a letter to the bank manager requesting for Rs.1500/- to be credited back to my account since it was wrongly debited and provided the withdrawal receipt as proof of the actual transaction (this happened in July 2009).


10 months, 5 visits, and 5 excuses later, the arrogant staff now tell me that they have no records of my letter or the withdrawal receipt nor can they do anything about it. Every time I went earlier, all they would say was "we're still investigating!" Yeah right... like its some highly complex case that involves the Interpol and the Russian Secret Service and the CBI combined (even they dont take so long to solve crime!!!). Looks like I will need to write to the Ombudsman and see if they can do something.


One might wonder why all this hue n cry over an incorrect transaction, one bad client experience is all it takes for the bank to lose one of their clients. Canara Bank needs to remodel its definition of "metamorphosis for the better" if they want to compete with other banking giants.
