Last week, I visited my home branch of Canara Bank Hal, New Tippasandra, Bengaluru to inquire about a gold loan. I was told to wait for 5 to 10 minutes, but this quickly turned into a full hour before I was finally able to speak with the appraiser, who explained the requirements. When I spoke to the branch manager, Ms. Kankana, 974 I was surprised by her lack of concern for customer relations. She didn’t apologize for the long wait and simply told me to keep waiting until the appraiser arrived.
She later gave me her number to coordinate the required documents for the loan. Over the weekend, I messaged her to confirm if I could visit on Monday, and she told me to message again Monday morning for the exact timing. At 10:30 am, she confirmed I should arrive by 11:15. Yet, at 11:12, she called, asking why I hadn’t arrived yet, even implying they couldn't wait for me. When I reminded her of the hour-long wait I’d had the previous week, she responded rudely, insisting I be on time and then disconnected the call. When I called back, she didn’t answer.
I arrived at the bank at 11:21, only to find the appraiser with another customer. I asked if I’d have to wait, and he said yes. When the manager approached, I expressed that her tone was uncalled for and requested respect for my time. Instead, she told me to "shut my mouth and sit." I felt humiliated and chose to leave.
This experience was witnessed by the appraiser and another customer, but no one intervened. Such behavior is unacceptable. I feel discouraged from visiting the branch again Canara Bank Hal, New Tippasandra, Bengaluru ] and am even considering closing my account. It’s disappointing to see Canara Bank’s reputation potentially affected by this kind of unprofessional conduct, which I would caution other customers to be aware of.
