MMMmmm… time for beauty op then.
Brylcreem have decided to expand their product portfolio, and have started to bring out more products in their hair care range. They have their gels and waxes, and now they have their shampoos.
I am pretty sure there are three types of shampoo from the Brylcreem range, but I can only find two, so I will talk about these.
There is the shampoo which is made for ‘normal hair’ and one which is a ‘anti-dandruff’. I am pretty sure that the third is for ‘greasy hair’. These are in three attractive colours. Blue for ‘normal hair’, green for the ‘anti-dandruff’ shampoo, and I believe purple is the colour for the ‘greasy hair’ shampoo. All these colours are light and very eye catching, which is essential, especially when launching a new product as the consumer must see this product. It is no good if the product simply blends in with all the others in that market.
All these shampoos have this ‘2 in 1’ formula which gives you ‘strong hair’ and a ‘healthy scalp’. I don’t really like quoting from products as it seems a bit cheeky to just make an opinion from quotes on the product, so I will just say that this shampoo contains proteins which are designed specifically for men who wear styling products which may weaken their hair. The cleanser in the shampoo is designed to remove the toughest styling residue, and is meant to leave your hair feeling ‘cleaned, conditioned and manageable.’
The bottle contains 250ml of this lovely goo, and with this 19cm high, 7cm wide tube comes a very squeezeable plastic which allows you to easily squeeze the shampoo out. The actual opening for the shampoo is wide enough for the shampoo to ease out very quickly, but the ‘lock’ on the clear plastic top is very secure, so no fears about it leaking on your travels.
But would you want to take it on your travels? Well, yes. It is maybe a bit big to take if you are just going for a week, but to use at home, yes.
Basically, to apply this product and use it to its full potential you will need to drench your hair thoroughly. I have tried it with damp hair, and the results have not been to great, but sticking the head of the shower right on my head for a bit and allowing my hair to get really wet, then applying the goo, really did work.
You only need small palmful of this product for it to bubble. Rubbing it hard into my scalp was the method I found worked the best, and almost immediately the shampoo bubbled too much really, as my hair was soon covered with the bubbles, and they were cascading down my face and down my body.
Obviously, wash your body with a shower gel first, but the excess bubbles may as well be used on the rest of your body as well. No matter how little I use I always have more than I need, so I figured I may as well rub it into the rest of me too. After all, I am male and have hair on other parts of my body!
If I have been to the beach (never recently but its an example!) or somewhere else where my hair has suffered a bit, I may use the shampoo again, just another small amount, and this really foams straight away, and the results are even better.
The smell is a basic shampoo smell, is not enhanced in any way through any extra ingredients really, but is still nice, and let’s face it, blokes just want a shampoo that works, not one that necessarily smells nice!
This product leaves my hair feeling very clean, bit squeaky, and I like it very much.
You know when you finish a beauty product, and there is always a small amount left at the bottom, that means you either have to either cut the tube up, or run a small trickle of water down to the bottom of the tube then shake to get the rest of the product out, not here. I recently finished a bottle, and I removed the plastic lid very easily to reveal a wide hold which the shampoo comes through, and you can very quickly fill the tube up, give it a shake and easily shake out the rest of the shampoo before disposing of the tube. Perhaps something you may not usually think of, but an advantage all the same.
At £2.89 from Boots, this is maybe 90p more expensive than Boots own brand, but is cheaper than other major brands such as Charles Worthington. Boots often do two for one offers on many of men’s beauty products, from shower-gel to deodorant and this shampoo. Indeed, the first time I tried this product I do believe it was from a two for one offer in Boots, and it is well worth keeping an eye out for.
