Punjabi Thali!!
Jul 09, 2015 01:58 PM 5226 Views

Had gone to kalaghoda yesterday for the westside sale and had my lunch here.We went around 4pm and the place was empty. For a minute I thought they were closed or something. The place is warm and comfy with a  good seating area. The waiter was polite. We ordered the Garlic bread with cheese - very soft and freshly made, corn cheese balls - tasty corn with cheese melting in your mouth.

For lunch we ordered two punjabi thalis. I had never tried this item at bombay blue! The thali had a paratha, five veggies including mixed veg, paneer makhani, chole, dal and rice and one papad. The paneer was average, chole was tasty and dal rice was good too.

The other two veggies were very average. The service was slow but the food was good. One veg thali with an extra paratha would suffice two people. Portion size was good and fililng. Worth a try for the thali. Menu was overpriced - 1500 for three people. Had we not ordered the thali and only the roti bhaji it would have cost us more. Thali is a good option if you want to have a filling and budgeted meal! Overall a good experience. Service could be a little better.

Bombay blues is horrible

All of us working professionals get hardly somtime to spend with our family, and there can be nothing as bad as having a bad experience at a restarant on a sunday.

I went to the bombay blues kalaghoda branch and had a horrible time, I was disgusted with their service, I decided to call for nachos and it barely had any cheese, when I asked the manager to get me some more melted cheese, his reply was mind blowing."Sir this is our standard 90ml measure and we do not put more cheese".imagine having a plate of nachos with just 90ml of cheese.

After a long arguement he got me some cheese which was smelling horrible, I had to ask him to take it back, already irritated I decided to call for somthin indian and the pav bhaji in the menu looked tempting, so I decided to give it a try and was disappointed again.

That was the most awful pav bhaji I have ever tasted, it was nowhere even close to pav bhaji, all I could taste was garlic and stale vegetables, the pav was also of cheap quality, I just had a bite and was feeling pukish, last but not the least, even the pepsi I ordered was completely flat and smelled of soap.i wonder what is wrong with them, I regret going to bombay blue, I hardly ate 1 bite of each dish and had to pay 475rs.!.the only good thing was the gelato ice cream stall there.please do not go to bombay blues, you will be highly disappointed.

Bombay blues had advertised that they were having a festival on Anglo Indian food . When we visited them at Fort on 16th Aug at 730 pm after being seated we pointed to the brochure reg the special offer on the table we asked for the menu. e were told the menu is not available. After 10 min the boy attending the table [I cannot call them waiters as they lacked the basic courtesy and politeness associated with waiters] told us there was no such food available.

Being surprised we asked him to call the steward/captain or some one responsible who appeared after another ten min, we asked what about the festival food which was advertised, he said he would check up. we waited for another 15 min during which we tried to catch the attn of some other steward/captain, who deliberately avoided us, when we finally caught hold of one he said no such food was available, when questioned about the advt and the brochure he slipped away and started removing the brochure from all the tables.

After a waiting for about 45 min we decided to leave as we reached the door the steward came with the festival menu and said that some items were available. We left in disgust. apparently the so called festival was to lure customers

Get in a BLue Mood at B'bay Blues

Well I have tried most of the restaurants of Blue Foods, and none of them have disappointed me (Noodle Bar being the best), until I visited Bombay Blues last week with one of my friends.

Initially, when I entered I found the ambience was quiet welcoming, especially the huge TV screen good to watch matches and all.

Then came the turning point, when the menu was placed before us. They serve Indian, Mexican, Lebanese and Italian. But, that didn’t confuse me as much the pictures describing the food did, because the quantity displayed was so less they it can be hardly filling. For instance, they Indian meals with dal, jeera rice and vegetable/non veg, the rice served is less that two spoons full.

Anyways, we decided to try out Mexican food, but I did not know that Mexican food came with a Gujrati twist or may be vice versa, it was Gujrati food with Mexican twist.

The tacos served with salsa, were fried and tasted more like papdis and the salsa was sweet , I have never tasted anything like that before. As for the enchiladas I ordered, they were chicken and refried beans (just about OK ) served in a horribly sweet tomato based sauce. I thought I idea was to serve the desserts along with the main course.

But, the worst part was the Quesiladas my friend ordered, they were as good as having nothing, just like the filling in it which wasn’t really there.

This is one restaurant which scores in ambience, but not in the main reason why people come there i.e FOOD

It just fails to deliver value for your money.

GRILLED AT KALAGHODA - PART II (BOMBAY BLUES)
Aug 07, 2006 05:41 PM 4947 Views

Earlier while writing the review on Copper Chimney, Kalaghoda, I did happen to mention Bombay Blues. Yes! Bombay Blues and Copper Chimney share the same premises and are even interlinked; yet they happen to maintain their own identity.

While Copper Chimney is a ‘grill restaurant’ that serves barbeques and grilled delicacies, Bombay Blues, situated next door and easily accessible serves you Indian and continental food in a friendly and informal atmosphere.

Theservers at Bombay Blues are clad in uniforms that are right out casual and informal. A blue Hawaiian shirt over blue denim gives the young bunch of servers in the restaurant a gay and merry look. This is coupled with service that can best be described in a single word as ‘efficient.’ The guys are on their toes and serve in style.

The décor of the restaurant is fine and done in modern style, needless to say that the colour blue is dominantly used. Despite the place crumpled up for space, the tables are so placed that it gives breathing space. Frames of modern art don the walls…the plasma could have been done away with, for hardly anyone seemed to even as much as glance with intrerest towards it. Overall the décor is not something you talk about in a place that serves great food.

Yep! The food here is great. Since the restaurant serves the best of Copper Chimney along with its own list of continental, our order was a fusion of Indian delicacies coupled with continental starters and beverages. Thus Peach Iced Tea and Pink Strawberry Ice Cream Soda made it on the beverages. The Peach Iced Tea was just the right taste to tickle my taste buds. Soups and Chicken Spring Rolls as starters followed this, the spring rolls were quite well done and tasty. This was followed by main course, which consisted of Indian food, thus we got the guy at the grills heated up with Chicken Tikka Masala coupled with Tandoori Rotis and Roti Nans, summed up with Rice and Makhani Dal. The quantity served is more than enough (read huge) – imagine that the above actually served three people.

Bombay Blues will remain high on my list of eating out or treating out.

An evening I planned to dine with my old pals. We decided to visit on Saturday but that was a big day........ It was India Pakistan match. Since all wanted to be together & enjoy it we decided we should go to Bombay Blue located at Kalaghoda since they have the big plasma screen.

We met at the venue at 2.15 pm. It was very crowded & the match was to begin in next 15 minutes. The atmosphere was very live & happening. The restaurant was packed with the corporate crowd of the town area & everyone just seemed to enjoying every minute of the event.

We got started with Pinacolada & Margaritas followed by the scrumptious garlic bread with cheese & corn cheese balls. Chana Bhatura, Penne pasta & Great Indian meal was ordered for the main course concluded by Kulfi for dessert.

The thing that is worth appreciating is that despite the crowd & the cricket match the food was served well on time & service standards were very well maintained. The food presentation was very good & it was very tasty. Although we lost the match the experience was very delightful.

Bombay blue, unforgettable moment
Sep 17, 2004 04:51 PM 4465 Views

It was my parents wedding anniversary. I was treating them for the first time & wanted to make this event very special. There was no way I wanted to compromise on anything. I wanted a good place with ambience décor & everything just perfect. So a family friend suggested Bombay Blue at Kalaghoda. I got a reservation done for 4 of us. I spoke to the manager & gave him every possible instruction that everything should be just fine as this time I was the host. We went in the evening at 7.30 pm .The manager greeted my parents with flowers. We settled down & ordered for food.

We ordered for Veg platter & Grilled Sausage Pepper penne. My parents were hesitant to try pastas but after tasting they asked for more. They were trying this different cuisine for the first time and they enjoyed it. In the end we ordered for a meal portion which is named as Best of Cream Centre & Copper Chimney. This has a appropriate portion of Channa Panner Makhani, Dal Maharaja (Black Dal), Veg Biryani accompanied by raita & papad. You can also opt between Roomali Roti & Bhatura.

The dinner was concluded by a Sizzling Brownie Sundae which came complimentary much to our delight. The service was really excellent & worth appreciating. The best part was they played the anniversary song & my parents were very delighted.

This place is worth a visit.

The Blues at Bomaby Blues

Well Bombay blues the place that has created a name for itself, sadly on my ''last'' visit to it 2 weeks ago was disheartening. To celebrate a special ocassion my girlfriend and I went to Bombay blues to have lunch. Well things just when down hill after that, including my mood, with the kind of service that we were offered. To start off with we ordered a Bombay platter (non Veg).....and a Pink strawberry (Ice cream soda) as a starter......along with a Chicken Shaslick sizzler (my main course) and She ordered an Enchilada ( hope I got that spellin right).

Well it was a long wait after that....:) not to mention that we didn't have water in our glases while we were waiting....until we asked them for it.... the people who came in after us got their pink strawberrys.....I didn't get mine :( .....thats just the start.....we were waitng for a good half an hour and then voila the starters came along with the main course on the small tabel for two.....clutering the full thing up......but that was excusable.....well her enciladas were fine but the reason why I ordered a meat dish is cauz I like meat I didn't ecpect it to contain more vegetables than meat.....that literally sucky....

I felt like they wanted to convert me to a veggie...the taste !!....wat should I say.....my sizzler was dry....no extra sauce given to me.....my sizzler sucked!!!!! after asking him we got the pink strawberry,.,,,(btw. I requested them to take back the dishes till we finished the starter ummm they took back the enchilada but not the sizzler as they could not keep it hot. So I had the sizzler sizzling in front of me and I'm putting my hand over it to reach the starters in the middle of the table) ) does it get beeter that that..... dessert time........sizzling brownie with ice cream and chocolate sause........sounds tempting.......:)

Well it came and everyting appeared fine till he poured the choc sause on the ice cream......the pan was so hot that it was sizzling till the ice cream melted away the choc sause turned brown n black as it got burnt by the over heated pan.....not to mention my burnt tongue.... We paid a bill of Rs.740 or 780 am not quite clear .......but no way did I leave a tip for them. The meal definitely wasnt worth it.. but I must say the Pink Strawberry was really good....not had somethin like that b4......
