BenQ, a relatively unknown company in India which almost always gets mistaken as a Chinese ''makes crappy stuff like all the other chinese companies'' company. Well let me tell you, it is NOT.
Benq is a Taiwanese company, and dare you call a Taiwanese company Chinese, they will drag you in the forefront of their Independence struggle.
I will have to conceede that Benq is relatively unknown in the Indian market, therefore people dont really trust it. That is understandable, however, this is one of the few really amazing companies of the world that churns out superbly engineered products at affordable prices. It is very well known in the US, Middle East and elsewhere in Asia.
Which leads us to this product: the BenQ CDRW 52x24x52
Stable performance, incredible speeds and a low low price. it boasts of 52x CDR write speed, 24x ReWrite speed and 52x read speeds, which is on of the fastest combos in the market today.
Negatives:
1. It heats up after a prolonged session of CD burning. Which I am told is what happens to every CD writer. So, your rig has to be well air conditioned if you plan on transferring your entire cassette collection to CD's in one sitting.
After prolonged use it does get noisy.
Bundled software (from my experience) was just Nero Express. I suppose the OEM one is bundled with some great stuff.
very difficult to find 24x ReWriteable media in the market.
positives:
Amazing performance. 80ms access time
Upgrades to firmware readily available on https://benq.com
2MB buffer
Seamless link: which allows for a much smoother multi-session writing experience.
I have been using this CDRW for almost a year now and it performs just as well today as it did on the first day I got it. I have a puny 3Gig Hard drive, so almost all of my data files have to be backed up on optical media, and this CDRW does an amazing job of it.
