Baygon spray
Aug 29, 2016 08:53 PM10047 Views (via Android App)

Baygon Spray is a waste spray. Our home is near park and everyday in evening more insects and mosquitoes come in our home. I got fedup with those insects. To get rid of those insects I tried many things. One day my friend told to get Baygon Spray I bought it but no effect. The chemical was not good in that it is allergic to me. The day I spray Baygon in home I get some sought of irritation in nose and couldn't be able to smell that. The main thing is insects dont die, instead we will get allergic to it. I request if anyone asthma patient at home then should not use this Baygon Spray.

Quite effective
Dec 06, 2015 10:42 PM12152 Views

I have bought baygon mosquito repellent spray just a month ago, and it's quite effective to the mosquito, since my room is in the ground floor and attached with a garden there is always a tendency for mosquito in my room specially in the evening time, but since I have started using this the amount of mosquito in my room is much more less I do spray it thrice daily at every corner of the room and it is quite effective

Jaaneman alwidaa!!
May 16, 2008 06:47 PM16733 Views

Ek macchaar….aadmi ko mad with anger banaa detaa!

*Atleast this is the case with me!

Just one mosquito kiss and I am mad with frustration and anger!

Frustration: how come a 0.00000001 gram weight mosquito can take pangaa with 75 Kgs of Human body

Anger: this is my home- damn mosquitoes! No space for you here! I have paid the entire amount for this flat and I can’t have a FREE, IRRITATING resident living at my expense feeding on my blood!

*Tortoise doesn’t win the race!

Packets after packets gutted to keep the macchaar community away. But what do I get in end- irritating song in my ears- Jaaneman Jaaneman, Jaaneman jaaneman; jaaneman tera hi naam hai! Pat pat! You irritating machhaarone gone and second down humming the same song in my ears- jaaneman jaaneman, jaaneman jaaneman! Well you can beat eleven in 20 overs but can you beat hundreds overnight? I had to sing- Kachhuaaa tu chalaa jaa!

All Out for Duck?

Believe me till the time I saw only the ads of ALL OUT I used to think this is a product with some flap kind machine which sucks macchaar in it! Remember the tongue wagging, frog jumping ad? Well some one can be that stupid? **Sorry sir- at times I am!

I wanted this one player to score good! But my luck was similar with Malaayee Chop of Bangalore Royals- No luck- players out of tournament and- har taraf tera jalwaa, har taraf tera jalwaa- mere kaano ke upar tu! Mere hathon per face per tu! Oye machhaar! Darn that was a scene- a mosquito sitting pretty atop an ALL OUT Machine- having pyaar waali kotchie koo! ALL OUT- and I sent it to the pavilion- some unreachable place in my cupboard!

The 80’s return!

Frustrated to hilt and controlling my anger- suddenly I went flash back to my childhood in 80’s and saw my warrior Uncles and relatives- tying a handkerchief covering mouth and nostril. And heading a war with sprayer in their hands- winning and killing the enemies- whoosh whoosh whoosh- mass level sabotage! Hundreds and thousands running for their lives and those who could not evade the spray-wahi khatam ho gaye!

Idea Aya re!

On my next trip to the chemist- I asked for a Baygon Spray! He did show me modern spray bottle one shown at the product category here! But my jakhmi dil! Wanted some more! Something more and powerful for my revenge! I asked him for a tin can together with sprayer! He was amused. Who needs to do this in these times when every thing is slick and comfy to use- much like the Baygon Spray Bottle- but I knew my enemies are strong and I wanted the Brahmaastra which Brahmaa himself too might have used to get these irritating fellas out his home! Pat came my ammunition(sprayer) with bottle of Baygon- now in a new avtaar plastic bottle instead of thattin can.

Himmat jagi Safltaa mili!

1000 percent sureabout my victory me as a Gladiator came back home that day! And poured the Brahmaastra into the sprayer! Every one laughing at me- what have you brought- and my first attack- every thing changed- machhar- brotherand wife all running for a cover! My God- I never imagined this kind of brilliant results! Mind-blowing they have all ran for the terrace and I have the entire house for me but with the strong, unbearable, poignant smell. Now you can see- Humans can’t even survive this – toh macchar ki kya aukaaat? That first night with all the hate words from my brother and wife I was still joyous with my glory- the victory over irritating fellas at home- yes I mean all the fellas- who irritate me different kind! Now of course two of the irritating fellas have won back their territories and the sprayer and tin can have been given to my maid’s custody- with strict instructions to use when no one is at home and never to let this in the hands of Alok.

But friends I have achieved whatever I wanted:

Freedom from Mosquitoes! Never mind some irritating fellas still sharing your space! You can’t get everything as per your whims and fancy- you have to compromise at one or the other point. So till then I am happy with my macchaar free space- THE GOOD OLD BAYGON PLASTIC CAN WITH SPRAYER IS A CLEAR WINNER HERE!

*Man of the match and man of the series is undoubtedly- BAYGON SPRAY!

BAYGON cockroach killer [Indian make]
Apr 06, 2008 04:41 PM16096 Views

I have been using Baygon Cockroach killer [marketed by SCJHONSON] in India. While the brand is good for use and the effect is very much there to see. However, recently, they have provided a extended nozzle with a 5 inch long small tube to facilitate directing the mist of spray into narrow spaces. Though the idea is very fine, the contraption provided is of very poor design.

The cap onto which the extended nozzle-tube is fitted is coming out very very frequently and the liquid spills over on the floor and on our hands. The design needs to be rejigged to keep the cap/cover tightly fixed while in use. The earlier design without the extended nozzle, though of limited use in narrow cervices and inside the drain pipe filter, was having better handling properties. The scent of the spray is also having good quality. The effect of the medicine on cockroaches is also quite fine. Only the new device has to be either re-designed to fit comfortably on the container or removed altogether till a better user-friendly design is incorporated.

Baygon-zombie cockroaches?
Mar 14, 2008 12:33 PM14481 Views

Yesterday I used baygon, fast insect killer spray, to kill a cockroach. The cockroach I assumed had died (as it stopped moving). I left it there until the next day (squeamish) to pick it up and throw it away; that day was today. As I picked it up I looked at it carefully, and the cockroach slowly came to life, even though the previous day it was sprayed continually with the baygon.

I've always assumed that baygon doesnt actually kill the cockroach, as afterwards it looks like its been sprayed with glue (it lays stiff) now im not so sure whether ill continue using this product if the cockroaches resurrect themselves. I think if it were to be used, and then the cockroach were to be flattened then this would certainly be a good product, but I personally dont wish to clean cockroach innards off the floor.

Previously I've used the spray on flies, and a silimar thing has happened. after using it and breathing the air in (not direct mist, maybe 5 minutes afterwards) in my throat there was a slimy texture, similar to the feeling after drinking milk, I dont know whether or not this is harmful but it may be for children.

Bloody Buggers
May 22, 2007 09:04 AM18827 Views

Twas a midsummer’s night and the heat wave must have made Shakespeare check for an alternate sleeping arrangement in his coffin. The heat got me to remove my T-shirt inspite of the fan running at full speed.

A few minutes into my deep sleep, I found it itchy. Scratching the locations which my T-shirt exposed me to, I found the itching resume in a few minutes. And then I thought I was being bitten. The human body has an amazing reaction process. What happened after that would probably put Superman to shame on the speed front.  I switch on the light and check the bite in the mirror. Blood! On closer inspection, I found the carcass of this bug like creature. I check closer and see that there are a few on the inner sides of the bed. Some sort of parasite or Bed Bugs! A whole lot of them. That was my first encounter with them.

Well, every living thing serves as a host for some parasitic form. We do too for a lot of bacteria and viruses. So, I didn’t think much till I thought of my two year old beautiful daughter.

That really got my blood running. Apne Khoon, pasine aur mehnat ko Yeh Sazaa? My blood curdled. And then the food my daughter eats flashed across my eyes. Gerber, Horlicks, Kidspro, Pediasure… The ‘Ka-chang’ sound of my health tiller seemed to indicate a loss. I was so much into horlicks/Bournvita and health drinks for my daughter and these bugs were probably the healthier for it! Something needed to be done. The health drinks were for my daughter, not for these bloody buggers.

What if?The bugs turned out to be the tall superheros as shown in the Boost/Bournvita/ Horlicks ads? The thought was frightening. Mankind would hold me responsible for our extinction and exterminate me?

Khoon ka badla Khoon*. *Kuch to karna padega.

I remember the chant of a MS member Har Har Har, except I added the Mahadev to it. And so war was declared on a midsummer’s night in May as I checked the sides of the bed. I squeezed a few to death without much ado. The blood left was a warning to the remaining bugs. An hour later I go back to sleep, as they appear to have fled.

Another morning and it was time to continue the war. I put on my best war hat, my bulletproof vest and the rubbery soles. But still, hand to hand combat was difficult as I could not see my enemy in most cases. Hitler’s experiments with chemical warfare in comparison seemed more successful. I mulled my options. Genocide is one thing, but is bugocide different? A crash course on Debugging using chemical warfare on settlements by my mom. And then the Pujas with the tilaks and traditional arathis, I(duh warrior) was off.

To the shop actually.  I checked out different offerings. And saw a few counters stacked with Mortein, Hit and Baygon. And seeing the vast amounts displayed by Baygon, it looked like they were experts in chemical warfare. They had a cockroach killer, a water based cockroach killer, a mosquito killer, and an all insect killer. Have a closer look at the chemical composition and it only differs slightly. Avast! I purchased Baygon - all insect killer.

Onto mission Bug-O-cide. The beddings were thrown on the terrace. The cots were sprayed for three days and the room locked to prevent misuse by the kids. The gas chamber must have been some awful place since at the end of each day; I even found a few unidentifiable creatures. One by one I recaptured the different locations of my home. This went on till the ‘gas chambers’ had snuffed out quite a lot of lives and the rooms looked like a battlefield in any case. Our headquarters(read bedroom) was shifted to an alternate location for two weeks!

Finally, it turned out that my house was a safe haven. Unfortunately, we could not track the source of the bugs.

Till, one fine day. The Dhobi came over with the usual clothes neatly ironed and pressed. And then a bug slipped while counting the clothes. A little enquiry and he reveals that there were bedbugs at his house. We warned him strictly. It is another matter to replace the dhobi(irreplaceable). That’s just not possible in an urban locale. You are left to fight your bug battles.

Bagon not effective in long run
Oct 30, 2003 03:18 AM12716 Views

I had used Bagon Liquid for three years and after that using this spray, because no other perfect alternative is not available.

Always it smell a lot and gives bad taste to infants. may harm them . probably it will be harming to us it will be revealed in due course of time.

some of my friends also stopped using this because of cost factor as well as smell.

Thing to learn is from Bagon is that it is

$-not long lasting effect, no effect in early morning if used in night.

$-Its smell is poiseneous to humans.

$-cost wise not vary much cheap.

$-Can it self creat hazards if not properly disposed off.

$- Can not be rated as Very usefull in absence of suitable competetor.

Now I have stopped this and trying for other alternatives , I will come with other alternative next week .

dear friend you will see some natural smell which keeps mosquito away vary soon.

The Mosquito Terminator
May 03, 2003 09:52 PM29626 Views

Baygon is very old brand name and famous as mosquito / flying insect killer. Baygon spray produced in India by Aero Products and marketed by Bayer India Limited. In tropical countries like India, product like Baygon has secured market. There many other brands in the market but continuous improvements in its formulation is the positive point. Bayer originated from Germany and recognized as one of the big specialty chemical manufacturers in the world. Germans are brilliant innovative chemists and that is the reason companies like Hoechst, BASF, Bayer etc could survive the onslaught of Second World War. These companies are having hundreds of patents in their credit. Bayer, after merger with Aventies, may be the biggest pesticide producer in the world. The Product Baygon, they call it as The Mosquito Terminator, is a deadly killer. It as water based aerosol formulation. List of ingredients printed on the pamphlet tell about more than 52 % water and 40% LPG. Active ingredients, mosquito killers, are less than 0.1%. So you can imagine the amount of toxicity these can spread. So guys, be careful. This mosquito terminator can even terminate two footed non-flying creatures. Combination of two very effective insecticides made it very effective. In this product, they have added Lavender as perfume. However, you know in presence of LPG, Insecticides etc, effect of perfume is not that great. May be to some extant lavender can camouflage the pungent smell of those chemicals. Caution - Like all other mosquito killers, this also to be stored in a secured place. Keep away from children and persons having mental disorder. Cost Analysis At present, this is available in 400 ml cans with spray nozzles. Cost you Rs. 115/-. Other brands like Mortein, Hit will cost you same but for 320 ml. So, you get about 25% discount on a reliable mosquito killer. Cost wise coils or mats are cheaper alternative for mosquitoes. However, these have limited application. Baygon can be used for cockroach or many other pests. Moreover, this one is far more powerful than mats or coils. Application In olden days, household insecticides were formulated in kerosene and we used to use a spray gun for spraying it. This was a cumbersome exercise and lot of waste due to spillages. Aerosol technology has made life comfortable. Application is very simple due to easy-to-handle spray cans. So there is no spillage or anything like that. Spray it for 10-15 seconds and keep the room closed for 15-20 minutes. Please do not stay in the closed room in that period and not even your pet. After that, provide adequate ventilation to the room. Caution - Insecticides penetrates through the skin and spread in your body. So, it is not only inhalation that can have bad effect. High dose exposures may have severe effect on someone’s health. Conclusion I have worked few years in an American Pesticide Manufacturer where they used to educate us to increase awareness regarding health and safety. So, I have some knowledge about bad effects of these molecules. Personally, I do not like any pesticide at home. However, occasionally I have to use it to get rid of pests. Avoid such product if you have some other better alternative. We take following measures 1. All windows are having nets to stop flying creatures to come in. 2. Mosquitoes are active during night. Normally we close doors from dusk to dawn so that mosquitoes do not enter the flat. A second door with suitable net seems to be better if you are fond of fresh air. 3. Keep the surrounding clean and avoid stagnant water and rotten garbage. Kitchen garden is very good for mosquito breading, so keep it clean. Life cycle of mosquito is only seven days. So, important preventive step is to stop fresh breading. 4. I am sure everyone will avoid having a mosquito breading ground inside the flat. In cities, one may have little choice and depend on civic authorities. So, may follow the first two and a clean house will help. Precautions Certain precautions are to be taken if someone is compelled to store and use insecticide at home. 1. Store at a secured placed away from children. Do not store near foodstuff. Aerosols are to be kept away from heat source. 2. During spraying, ensure that foodstuffs are covered. Keep the little one and pets away. 3. After spraying droplet may deposit on the floor or other items so take care of the kids and clean the surface. 4. Do not forget to wash hand after using any type of insecticides / pesticides. 5. Use only when it is required and ensure minimum exposure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Enjoy mosquito free evening. May be difficult in my country but all of us should take care for our better health.

Mosquito 2 - The Killer Spray
Sep 22, 2002 03:54 PM37440 Views

A little old riddle:

''What's the difference between a fly and a mosquito?''

Answer: A mosquito can fly but a fly can't mosquito. (pathetic!!!...LOL)

Jokes apart, mosquitoes are dreaded creatures. When I see one, I just can't be satisfied until I whack it - to death. As a part of my voluntary effort to apprise all members I describe a weird disease caused by these pesky insects.

Elephantiasis:Why the weird name? Cause it cause the legs to swell and it really looks like an Elephants leg on a human being. It is caused by a filarial larvae injected into bloodstream by an infected mosquito. And mind you, it also affects...well...er...the genitals. Besides the fever, the worst part is the thickening, discoloration and fissuring of the skin.

This one is not as common as Malaria or Dengue, which are more rampant in the tropical climate but India does have a lot of cases.

But like we all know Prevention is better than cure. And with our honest intention and solutions available in market, mosquitoes can really be prevented.

------------------------------------------------

Part B: The Killer Spray

Out here in India, there has been only one spray solution that is been used for a long long time and is still being used - The Baygon Spray

This one is like a pesticide and it spells instant death for

1) Any insect that can crawl - beetles, cockroaches, millipedes, centipedes. (didn't quite try on snakes...kidding!)

2) Any insect that can fly - rat flees, beetles, cockroaches (sorry to count them again), flies and moths and the entire gamut of those little pesky things. Need I mention mosquitoes.

3) Bed bugs, darting silverfish in my old books.

4) Termites, actually all coloured ants - I mean red, black and white.

5) Humans. Well yes, God forbid, but it is POISON and if not treated immediately it can kill humans too.

Hence the title - Killer Spray!

It is a wonder spray when it comes to killing insects that you can see. And with the spray machine you feel like Rambo or Arnie with a potential dangerous weapon in your hands. Spray it on the mosquito throng and watch them drop to the ground and die a painful death. If you are even more sadist then spray it on cockroaches and watch them run helter skelter, then turn round and round in circles, then fall flat with their belly up and legs twitching furiously, then slowly and then - may their souls rest in peace.

Forget Doom, Quake, Duke Nukem boys - this is real action!

«« THE COMPANY »»

Khallas! No not that one. The product belongs to Bayer AG, Germany but Bayer (India) Ltd. are the registered users in India responsible for all the marketing efforts. But it was only when I went to visit my cousin in Gujarat and he took me to visit GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation) at Vapi, that I learnt that it is manufactured there by Aero Industries.

«« AVAILABILITY »»

Unlike Cyanide, this one is freely available at all chemists and general stores. It was available earlier in tin cans (250 ml upwards), which are stopped now. Now it is available in plastic bottles of 500 ml and 1 litre. The price is around Rs. 198 per litre. Now it is also available as Aerosols.

«« USAGE »»

Baygon Spraying Machines are available in the market. It has a container. We pour Baygon Liquid in this container. This is only if we want strong action, such as, during a total house cleaning operation. For regular usage, we mix it with kerosene. The lid has the spraying arrangement attached to it. You just pull a plunger in a cylinder and then push it back in with force. This causes air to mix with the solution to form a fine spray.

We spray generally in the house but specifically in dark regions such as behind the cupboards, in the gap between sofa and wall, in the closet, under the bed. This is to drive the mosquitoes from their hiding places. And mosquitoes breed in damp places, so never ever miss spraying in the bathroom and toilets. For cockroaches, best place is the kitchen cupboards and under the basin.

There are some essentials that need to be mentioned at this juncture. The spray is poison as mentioned earlier and extra care should be taken that you don't spray it accidentally on any foodstuff. It is advisable to cover all open vessels with lids and then put some covering (thick cloth) over them before spraying. Secondly, this is not a Holi water gun, and needs to be kept away from children so as to avoid spraying on humans - intently or accidentally. Pet owners, don't spray this on birdcages and cat/dog owners, and keep it out of their reach.

Please wash thoroughly using Dettol or some such soap after you make contact with it.

«« CHEMICALS USED »»

Propoxur, Cyfluthrin, Aliphatic alcohol, Alkyl aryl alcohol, Petroleum Distillate like kerosene. All potentially dangerous chemicals that if used correctly act as your savior and if you err, Baygon (Be Gone).

«« DISADVANTAGES »»

While I admit that it is highly effective, we have switched over to mats/coils/liquidator options. Why?

Firstly, because it is highly poisonous and however much you take care you don't know when and how you may land spraying it on foodstuffs and the risk is way too high if you have babies/kids in the house.

Secondly, the spray will ultimately settle on the ground and make your floor look oily calling for further floor cleaning. This is again also related to the first point as ultimately the floors, walls or any region that you spray the liquid, it forms a poisonous layer on it - dangerous isn't it?

It can cause headache, giddiness, nausea, vomitting, lacrimation, salivation, diarrhoea. Now I am sure I have hammered the nail right in.

«« OVERALL »»

While it's disadvantages weigh much more than the benefits and I don't recommend it for mosquitoes, I can't but help saying that it is the best solution when it is cockroaches you are targeting. I leave the recommendation to your judgement.

Peerless TERMINATOR
Sep 08, 2002 03:56 AM14931 Views

Getting fed up with those crawling roaches (especially babies) materialising out of nowhere, the silverfish invading my veteran bookshelf and the mosquitoes piggybacking on the shoulders of evening visitors, I was on the lookout for a product that would fulfil the following conditions:

  1. Kill all of the above, and their kin, fast and sure.

  2. Be handily available at all times.

  3. Require no cumbersome assembly. Therefore be available in aerosol spray form.

  4. Require just minute amount of the core chemical(allethrin).

  5. Effortlessly reach nooks and crevices.

  6. Fit any decor.

  7. Come from a reputed manufacturer.

Baygon Spray for insects turned out to be a perfect match.

The product did not let me down and just one puff is all that is needed to make any customer swoon. They instantaneously go into com(m)a and in a matter of seconds, sentenced to full stop !

A few puffs under the bed, in the kitchen sink, over the garbage bin, in the water tank of the room cooler and on the leaves of the indoor plants(which invariably harbour mosquitoes) ensure a good night's sleep without further ado.

The only disadvantage is that one has to withdraw oneself from the room for a few seconds to avoid irritation caused by the fumes.

Slightly highly priced but then no need to buy devices, mats or coils or spend on electricity.

Might asphyxiate bigger animals and enemies incarcerated in a closed room but not recommended for that purpose !

Licensed to kill!
Jan 05, 2001 09:53 PM11885 Views

All mosquito repellants have one thing in common:

A chemical called allethrin which is supposed to make our fellow citizens (mosquitos) uncomfortable; this is dispersed through a medium of kerosene in these sprays.

This allethrin is found in all mats or sprays or coils or whatever!

im not a doctor but I know for sure, this chemical has an adverse effect on the respiratory and nervous system of children.

Coughing, trembling hands are by and large noted with increasing recurrences all over.

A ayurvedic coil without this (tortoise claims!) or application of gingelly oil on exposed parts of the body or keeping cut cactii leaf(certain variety) would anyday be preferrable.

Achtung! or it could be your last goodnight!
