Beware of Barclays Yatra Platinum Credit Card.

I am another victim of "Barclays Credit Card" which actually has become a nightmare for me.I got a call from Barclays stating that I am one of their luckiest customer and they are offering me a so called "Lifetime free" Yatra Platinum Credit Card.Since I travel a lot and book my tickets mostly through Yatra.com, I went for it.I am still cursing myself till date for doing the biggest mistake of my life by opting for this card.Now about the pain areas :


The very first month I swiped the card in Yatra and spent INR17500.After 20 days I received a message from Barclays to clear all my dues.After calling their "Customer Service" about the missing statement I was told that the same has been couriered to my office address long back.After 3 days I called them again and confirmed that I didn’t receive any statement and asked for an e-statement which they said it will be forwarded to my registered e-mail id.


They gave me a complaint number too which is of no use.I called them on the very next day again to check about the statement but the executive from Barclays told me that "You better payoff your dues and kept the phone".My question to Barclays bank is "Without getting a statement how can they expect one to pay off the dues".Also their so called Customer Service Executives are "Highly Unprofessional Jokers" who don't even know how to talk to their customers.


So after all these efforts till today I have not received any statement and atlast I paid the entire outstanding amount and asked them to cancel the membership.Very next day I got a message from them stating that I need to pay the interest charge of INR1586 because my payment didn’t reach them on time.I have been using credit cards since 1998 and own more than 5 cards from different Indian and MN banks.I never ever had any issues till date but this so called Barclays Bank taught me the biggest lesson of my life"Never believe on verbal commitments".If anybody from Barclays bank reading this review, it's time for you guys to pull-up your socks and get ready for the “Perfect Storm” which will going to hit you guys very soon.

I normally do not write reviews specially a negative one; however I would like to talk about Barclays card's services here. It has been almost a year since I have been using this card and I here is my observation:1. There is lack of co-ordination between various departments. I received a call from Barclays informing me that I will get a discount of Rs250 if I used their card for at least Rs1000.


Coincidentally, I was at Wills Lifestyle that very moment and swiped this card for Rs 3500. I did not get any refund or discount in my statement. When I called their customer service about it, I was informed that there is no such scheme on offer in the current month.2. for last few days I have been getting calls from their customer care in Gurgaon however as soon I answer the call the line gets disconnected.


When I call back, I am not able to get the information because I am not carrying my credit card and they are not able to get the details using my name. After a while I get threatening messages like my name will be referred to credit bureau if I do not make payment immediately. Even when I dropped a check I keep gettting such message.I would suggest anyone who is looking for a credit card to take everything from the bank in writing before trusting them. Specially in case of offers, ask them to send you mail or email before you spend your money. I hope my review (more of a complaint) helps you and saves you your precious time.

Even I have faced the same problem..First of all it is so difficult to get through their helpline number..secondly most of the time the agents are not able to answer the queries. Seems that they need to ask their seniors everytime for which they keep you on hold for good 15-20 mins. There is no option on their website on register and check you card account..even to know my minimum due amount I have to call the helpline which is a pain.


I am from card's industry but never seen such pathetic offers on any card product apart from that there are not options available in the "reward points redemption"..too bad.


Can you imagine no offers even in festive season, whereas other card companies are always ready with some or the other offers in the festive season to increase spends on their card.


Thank God


They have an option to pay online, otherwise I would have cancelled this card.

Worst ever customer service I have ever faced

I took a Barclays Yatra Card a year ago. Their customer service is so painful whenever you call they keep you on wait for almost 10-20 minutes then the customer care guy responds to your calls and starts asking a series of question and even if you forget to tell a comma in the address they don't answer your query. Then they promised you will receive your bills by e-mail in 7 days and even after 3 weeks it doesn't turn out. At least now they have made a provision for online payment through banks otherwise it was always a pain to make payment. They don't have any offices here so no way you can talk directly.


Also all the offer they give most of them are useless most of the time. Worst thing about customer care number, every time I call it was getting disconnected after three rings but finally it got connected after 15 dials, when I told this problem I was told because I was using toll free number so I must not expect any better call service.

I am a card holder of Barclays Times card Credit card .Barclay's bank customer care executives called me informing me some details about some priority service.However they did not mention any charges involved of membership.One month later I received a bill amount of 6742 stating priority service membership fees.I called up the customer service who then redirected me to another number.After repeated calls and waiting for long hours when I inquired about the details , they said that they had my telephonic approval.When I asked them whether they verified with me the charges, they could not answer.I promptly asked them to reverse my bill since I was not interested in the programme and I also stated the clauses mentioned in their scheme.Details are as follows: According to Clause 2, sub clause b., and c., b.


The participation of Card holder(s) in the Program is voluntary and if a Card holder(s) chooses not to participate in the Program, then he/she shall inform/intimate the Bank in this regard within 21 days from the date of the amount has been debited to his card account, in the manner as indicated by theBank at its sole discretion from time to time. In the event, a Cardholder(s)decides not to become member of the Program and has communicated the same toBank within the 21 days mentioned above, then the Bank shall reverse suchcharges received from the Cardholder(s) provided that the Cardholder has notavailed any benefit of the programme. (I have informed them well in advance.


My statement date is of 17 November and I have made calls and sent emails uptil now without any reply from their side) Also the scheme involved some free vouchers and trolley bag which I haven't received till date which further confirms that I was not informed about this scheme. I mailed them repeatedlygiving my complaint but they just acknowledged the receipt .No reply has beengiven to me since then.


In short, stay away from it

This is to bring to your notice the fraud tatics and modus of operandi followed by Barclay Credit Card people to first woo and then loot the innocent people. As It did happen with a lots of other fellow card holders of Barclay, I am too a victim of Barclays Priority Circle which they sold me by telling they want to send some free trolley to my residence. Though I never received any trolley so far but my next month bill shows an obscurred credit entry of Rs 5000 for BPC + Service Tax.


I immediately wrote to them saying that I never opted for this service and It had been told that this offer if free of charge without any annual or one time fee. I contested my case hard with their customer care people but they are junk and duffers with only one word in their mouth - "Sorry Sir..." "We can't really help..."  "This is the process...bala bala "


To my dispair I  cut the card in four peices and send it to Head of Services, Barclay Mumbai office. But even then those buggers used to call me daily starting 8 AM in morning.


Barclay card is worst in terms of customer services. They don't have any transparency in their systems and they delibrately organized their functions into various department with no workflow and sharing of information. Collection department calls you without having any account details. Customer care refer to BPC service if you have any complaint against the money charged. I am telling you they have done it purposefully to harass the customers so that they fall to their trap. They don't have any escalation process or procedure which according to RBI every card company must provide to their customers. A complete case of Jungle Raaj ....


Never disclose your account information to Barclays Collection department calls and ask them reverse questions. Always make your communication in writing by emailing them to : HeadServices@barclay.com

I had the misfortune of owning(and disowning) a barclaycard last year.....I still laugh at myself n curse my fate for the inauspicious moment when I signed up for that card!If I write....il have to write for a few pages, so il cut it short,


1.Helpline number doesn work(from sep-dec 07)...what can I say....hahahaha..if u lose ur card n call them, ul hear a number busy tone!!




  1. If the call gets through morons answer the phone..all they say is...Sir we will resolve this issue at the earliest!!!I made 200+ calls(I'm generally a patient man)to add some points that they had missed adding..but no avail.




3.I wrote to them that was another story, I will attach scanned copy of email soon..I never got a single reply..all I got was automated responses with "sweet nothings"!!!!




  1. Big promises-no delivery-they continuously bombarded me with SMSs bout some adora diamond pendant if I purchased for 30k in 2 months, I did. They dint give me anything for the next 6 mths




So trust me, even if they pay you a million, its not worth the headache. I am hoping they too get bankrupt in this economic meltdown!!!

Worst Ever Credit Card - I Have Ever Seen

Please dont go for BarclayCard. This company is well known for its service in UK, But the Reciprocal is happening here.


This is my Sad Story...


I got this stupid card a Year back and I have transacted almost 2 lakhs rupees and I have paid the money promptly, all the time.


I got a GIFT for this last month.


They sent me a letter stating " Your Credit Limit has been reduced to 10k from 30k". I got shocked seeing this, as I cant imagine a credit card with 10k limit. I am using 3 Other cards like ICICI with 3 times better limit and I have never faced any issues.


When I called CC, they were totally irresponsible and said" This is our company Policy". I asked them what is that fu**in policy which reduces the limit drastically , for no reason.But there was no reply.


Above this, I got another shock , in the form of statement. The have put me 600 Rs OverLimit Charges for using the Card>10K., which was suddenly implemented before I made the purchase. Above all, I used the Card only for 10020 Rs. So, I was charged 600 Rs for exceeding limit by 20 Rs, that too the sudden limit was changed in the same billing cycle.


I called CC 5 Times and Sent Emails more than 10 Times, No Response. Finally I sent them a Registered Post, stating Explanation for the charges and Cancelling Card, Failing that.

SIR,


This letter is only to explain you detail of my grievances to your bank against the reversal of charges of Rs 2.62 paisa which your bank force me to pay the amount of Rs:-1267.28 PAISE.


I have received statement of July 12, 2008 in that statement the outstanding amount was 2.61 paisa only after that I have received the message on my mobile phone which shows that the bank received the amount of


RS-5  in cash.


After that in next month statement in august 12/2008 the outstanding amount shows is for RS- --109.97 with due date ---01 September 2008. I  had made my request to your bank deptt to reverse the charges of cash payment charges Of  RS -100+12.36-5.00{cash payment received}=109.97 on dated 19/09/2008 to MR abhishek. After that I had made so many request but not any single references was given to me for my complaint only I received single answer from you customer care executives that your request is still pending.Untill today I have not received any satisfied answer from your bank side only  threaten messages I received by your bank if you not pay the dues your name is forwarded to cibil .I  had very much harassed  by your bank so I request you to please do needful and reverse the all charges which I had not liable to pay in that case. Please resolve the matter immediately. I assured myself that your bank given fast &better services to the customers & made healthy relationship. I had given all details of my requests on to the banks but no any response given to me.


I contact them on their customer service then message come that customer is busy and call after some time. It is really weird to get this kind of message. How can some company tell their customer that do not call us as we are busy.


Barclays Priority Circle Fee Refund - Good News

I have got a call some time in October from Barclays priority Circle and they said that we will be sending you a free trolley bag and that is without any charges. When I said that I do not need it, they said that how does it make a difference as it is free of cost. I said ok. I got another call and confirmed my address. Now, I have got a bill of 6741.6 DR and not got any gift what ever they mentioned.


If I contact them on their customer service then message come that customer is busy and call after some time. It is really weird to get this kind of message. How can some company tell their customer that do not call us as we are busy.


It is totally fraud and cheat company. I will be going to consumer court for this harassment. Please do not go for this card.

I made the payment for the fees. I called up Barclays Card and got priority circle number. I called up Priority circle guy in Delhi. He asked me that if I would like to get all gifts or want to have my money back.


I opted second option. Within 15 days, whole Priority circle amount was reverted back to my card. I used that amount in shopping and made balance 0.


Call up Priority circle and get settle your issues. Delhi number is 011-45081222.

I took a barclays - yatra.com platinum card coz the guy from the company kept calling and told that I would benefit when I book tickets from yatra.com which I used to.


During the first month I hardly used the card and the total transaction was for Rs.601. I dropped the cheque before the due date at the Sky pak drop box coz they dont have any bank in chennai.


When I got the next months statement I was surprised to find a late payment fee for Rs.600. When I contacted them they said I had to pay and the amount cannot be reversed whereas I dropped the cheque way before the due date. Their agents kept calling, no jokes but u get a call once in every 5 minutes from various cities across india. Finally, I agreed to make the payment (FOR NO MISTAKE OF MINE ) and dropped cash at their collection center. They asked me to drop cash and not cheque coz cheque takes 4-5 working days. Dropped the cash on the 15th  and believe it or not it got credited on the 22nd. Their agents kept calling again and I gave them the transaction number and blah blah....


Now again they have charged me late fee, which again wont be reversed. This time the guy asks me to make an online payment coz it gets credited immediately. I cant stand anymore harassment from these people and hav decided to make the payment and cancel the card. I told the guy that I will make the payment online coz I dont want anymore late fees and calls from them and he says not sure coz the due date is in two days and online payment will take 48 hours to get credited when just a minute back he told it gets credited immediately. And I was speaking to their floor supervisor.


I hold other platinum cards of American Express, ICICI and HDFC(GOLD) for around 3-4 years and have never had a reason to complain.My sincere advice to anyone PLEASE DONT TAKE A BARCLAYS CARD.

Barclays credit card is a big cheater

I am holding Barclays credit card. One day I received a call from Barclays Priority Circle to confirm my address as they were sending a free gift of trolly bag to me. They asked if I am ready to take membership of it which is free of cost. Then they told me that a confirmation call will come to me and I have to confirm my address. I told them that my address is already with them. They told that iy is just a formality. I have never received any free gift or any broucher of the scheme. Then while I received my credit card Bill I was shocked to see that a charges of Rs 6000 and service tax of Rs.741.60 has been levied by them.


When I very difficultuly contacted them they told me that they can not reverse the entry and I have to contact the Barclays Priority Circle. They Told me that it can not be cancelled but they offered me discount upto 50%. I told them that when I have not given my consent for any amount why you have debited my account without my consent. They told me that you may either go to consumer court nothing will happen. They never told me any amount or charges for this and without informing me the charges and without my consent debited my account.


Therefore I advise all my friends to be away from this Card to avoid such situations.

My father-in-law subscribed to the BCC and we got a call on the home landline fore verification. The lady on the other end asked silly questions such as where does he work and what his designation is and how long is he working there?!


As if that was not a thorough check enough, an agent actually came in person to our apartment. The agent started asking very personal question about my husband, even though my father in law is the applicant. He asked questions like, are u married, how many people live in this house, what does his wife do, what is her age, the applicant's father's name, is this a rented house and so on. No card has ever done such a background check, I mean its definitely not on the standards of Signature cards, even for which I wouldnt be ready to answer such questions.


I really dont this these questions are validated. Not not apply for this card!

In other countries if someone gives such a service its matter of day thay bank will close down. Its only we calm India customers and our honest govt policy let these rubbish brands play their dirty services. I would say just produce proof of genuine transaction throw on their face, give police complaint if they call you again.


They keep nice terms and conditions in * tag which we never notice, its just make them so easy to run their business with full swing, full profit


Do not ever encourage these international players ,

They do not have any value for customers, abroad if any mistake they do they have to compensate for it which is very costly. They get huge profit from VISA and give us peanuts in the form of reward points


Indian banks are so honest only only only -ve point is the service. If product is honest who needs service

Barclay Credit Card: Worst service I ever had !!

This is to share a nightmarish service I had with Barclay Credit card. I recieved this platinum card in August and the first bill came in September. I made the payment in full in cheque as I normally do with the other cards I have.  After a couple of weeks, I received a SMS  message saying that the payment has not been received. The next message came saying "Dear customer, the payment on your Barclaycard is overdue. Please play by to avoid being referred on the credit bureau. In case of any dispute, feel free to call us at 044-66296300. Please ignore this SMS if you have already paid."


I called them up and they said they received the cheque but it has somehow become invalid.  I have been using credit cards for the last 10 years and I don't know how this particular cheque became invalid. When queried, they said, they haven't seen the cheque but this is what they see on their computer. The guy asked me to put another cheque from a different bank and I had put one from SBI. That cheque too met with the same fate.


It would be funny to note that I never received any statements from them till date. I called them up and then the guy there sent a pdf file locked with a password that only he and God knows. I called them up again and then they sent it correctly.


I again made the full payment and after the amount was deducted from my account, I tried the card and to my worst fears, it remained blocked. Luckly I was able to manage with the HSBC card that I had.  When I called the customer care at 6000 4444, they person who took the call after much waiting confirmed that they had received the payment and again asked me to call them after 2 hours as they are unable to return my call owing to "security reasons" only known to them.


If you haven't taken the card, please don't !! I am going to split the card and sent it back to them. Does anyone know where can I complain against such horrible service???

Some months ago I taken Barclays creditcard.They offered it as life time free. One month ago some one called me & said Barclays have to send me free gifts so please confirm address.I said address is with Barclays why you are asking.The person said some time address changes so pl give your address.


After some days I received the statement in Rs.5000+ service tax on that has been debited for "BARCLAYS PRIORITY CIRL". I immediately lodged the complaint and also referred after 10 days matter to their head service but nothing hapend.Customer care say you have to pay it.


What is horrifying is that due date of the payment was 25th Sep.and from next day they started calling 10-15 times a day for payment. Some time they call & cut the line. I am keeping my mobile in silent mode from last few days to avoid giving detail of the matter every time.

I have this card, service is Good, but poor customer care I agree, i have used this card last 10 months till now, I didnt face any dislike process and bad transaction, but I say one thing to every body whichever card could be use no problem, but we pay our outstanding amount before due date correctly or atleast pay at minimum amount on the month, though they are all of cards are friendly


So be friends " we are truth they are happy to help"" we are do cheat to them, they are not to cheat to you but put fine" so kindly make payment correct duration

Cheating the Customer Barclays Card.

I have been using this Barclays Card for quite a long time and from the day I started using this card I facing lots of problems.


You can please verify my records on this. Now there is a completely new problems arising. There was a balance of Rs.23.00 which the Barclays people


Called me several time to send persons to collect the Amount of Rs.23.00. for which due to frustration I agreed to that. One quite day they sent your representative to my Address to collect the amount of Rs:23.00. I paid the same through cash. And once I received my next statement I was shocked. To see


That there was a charges of Rs.113.00 Outstanding the reason was given as Cheque Pick up charges. Your people never communicated this. Kindly tell me is it fair on Barclays to Cheat the customers like this. For the Payment of Rs.23.00 I need to pay Rs.23.00+ Rs.113.00 as cheque pick up charges.


Fine I even paid that on 7th August 2008 (through Cheque) wherein the due date was 8th August 2008. The next statement gave me an another great shock. Rs.500.00 Late payment fees. + 12.36% Tax. What kind of business is this, And by mistakenly I had used this card for Rs.15000.00 and convert the same in to EMI. The due was on 8th September 2008 and the payment made by me was on 3rd September 2008. Thinking Barclays would be doing good kind of business. This proved me Again Wrong. Seeing my statement for the month of September.


There is another late payment charges of R.500.00+12.36% Tax. What does Barclays doing in favour of the customers. Is this the way to treat the customer. And grabbing money from the customers. I have decided I don’t want to use The Barclays card In my life I would like to surrender the card right away. Please calculate the amount which has to paid by me Cancel all EMI Deduct the interests. Tell me the exact figure that has to be paid. I have never seen such a Banking peoples in my life. And I would always suggest my family member & friends not to even apply for Barclays Card. Now the only thing I require Barclays to help me out is to Revert the 2 Late payment fees. And give me the credit on the same. And cancel the EMI option which I opted from Barclays. And Cancel My Barclays card which I don’t want hereafter.

Pathetic Card with a Pathetic Customer Care. Reasons Y anyone should not be going for the Shitty Barclay Card.


1) You have to dial an STD no. to get in touch with their Customer Care. What a big bank but does not even bother to provide a Local or Toll free no. A very good example of Unchi Dukaan, feeka pakwaan.


2) No timely deliveries of statements. as a result they will keep on charging you with Late PAyment fee.


3) If in case u call the customer care, instead of being poilte they will shout at you . sometimes they will keep down the phone


4) I subscribed for E-statmenet, but I guess their system is just incapable of sending one.


5) You will be overflowed by the no. of smses(sometime 10 in a day) and ‘n’ no. of calls in a day .


BEWARE if somehwhere at the corner of ur mind u r thinking of applying for barclays credit card.!

Barclay Bank (India) Card : Unethical Practices

I have the misfortune of holding a Barclay Bank (India) credit card.  They did not send my August statement.  Thankfully, my mobile no. is registered for SMS updates with them and I got a SMS on August 23 reminding that I owe 442 ruppes to them for card usage and the last date of payment is August 25.  I immediately paid the cheque on that date itself at the SKYPACK box.


Later, I learnt from Bank by phone executive of the Bank that my statement was wrongly delivered by thier courier to an address 3 kilometers away from my home and it was received by a guard posted at that address bearing the name Ajit.


Lo and Behold! the next statement comes and I am slapped with late fine fees of 550 odd ruppees.  I call the Bank to protest.  I said that I would have paid my bill much in advance had they cared to send the statement to the right address.  Even now, I have deposited the cheque on the date I received the SMS and that was 2 days before the last date of payment.


But, the Bank by Executive sternly rejects that logic.  I must pay my bill five working days in advance or else be ready to pay penalties.  I said I will return the card.  No effort to retain the customer.  Please  go ahead, do what you like but pay penalty otherwise we will send the collection agent (read goonda).


So probably you are better off without this illustrious card.  Try others. No one is as bad as Barclay India.  No business ethics, no customer friendly staff or management.
