Asi Museum, Konark Reviews

Collections of fallen sculptures & architecture
Jul 14, 2015 12:57 PM 1507 Views

ASI Museum at Konark is actually a museum maintained by Archaeological Survey of India and a part of Archaeological museum of Konark which I explored in January’1998 on a holiday trip to Odisha.

The museum is located near to Sun Temple of Konark in the north direction. The museum is the collection of fallen sculptures and architectural pieces of the Sun Temple that were found during the clearance work of Konark temple complex.

The museum has four galleries which displays 260 various antiquities which were retrieved from the clearance work of Sun Temple.

Famous among those collections are image of Surya in sand stone, reconstructed wheel in stone and statue of Lord Vishnu. The museum is a treasure house for historians and art lovers whose visits are regular. So, if you love to explore the ancient history of India, then this museum is also relevant to witness the art and architecture concept of Odisha and historical concept of Sun temple. Please note that photography is prohibited inside the museum and it will not take more than two hours to explore the entire museum.
