Ananthapuri Hospitals and Research Institute, Trivandrum Reviews

Good Hospital & Good Treatment
Nov 03, 2013 12:24 PM 10814 Views

My mother  has been undergone treatment for stroke at Ananthapuri Hospitals. We could bring her to Ananthapuri Hospitals within three hours. Her one side was fully paralysed and she was not able to talk. They took a CT scan and immediately after that medicines were administered. All this has happened in less than 45 mins and she is fully recovered now and fully back to normal.

The assurance that Dr Marthanda Pillai had given was so supportive and reassured us. He is one of the Best Doctors I have ever seen. His expertise in the field and commitment has to be appreciated . Ananthapuri Hospitals  has truly lived up to our expectations in all the ways- be it the medical expertise or the kind and compassionate staff. Thanks a lot to the staff in the Emergency Department

I have heard from other persons that the Hospital offers good treatment at affordable cost

Good doctors and nice staff

Want to share a wonderful experience I had with Dr.Kasi, Nephrologist at Ananthapuri Hospital, Trivandrum e. I was diagnosed to have kidney failure at a nursing home nearby and went to the Hospital. Dr. Kasi came to the emergency and put me at ease with his reassuring words and calm, He told me that I could have some drug allergy which has resulted in kidney failure and advised me to undergo a kidney biopsy which was required to confirm diagnosis and commence appropriate treatment.

For someone who is visiting any hospital for the first time I was afraid. Dr. Kasi explained the procedure in detail and did the procedure on the same day after some blood tests. Diagnosis was confirmed on biopsy the results of which was got within 48 hours and treatment was started. My creatinine which was 4.5 came down to normal in a week. My family and I are indebted to Dr. Kasi for his timely intervention and more importantly his confidence and reassurance all along. It is rare to see such a learned doctor who smiles and takes time to explain. A thorough professional.

God bless him!

A very disappointing experience
Jun 14, 2013 08:56 AM 10840 Views

We had a very disappointing experience with this hospital. We had taken our uncle to this hospital who had a high fever and was admitted regarding so.

After three days the doctors said he was suffering from Heart problem and must be operated after doing angiogram .We did not agree for this.We thought of going for a second opinion ..So we asked for discharge from the hospital.

Finally they agreed. We took him to another hospital and all the tests were repeated and the doctors said he was not having any heart problem.

Hence Dear friends as a well wisher I would suggest that no one who ever goes through this review must ever visit this hospital in any situation.

By going through the reviews one of the well wisher of the hospital have commented so *"Its a good hospital, with the state of the art facilities. Doctors are well experienced and there are almost all departments in the Hospital. Location wise also its seems to be well connected by Road, Rail and Air.

Welcome to Ananthapuri Hospitals - leading tertiary care hospital in Asia. Ananthapuri Hospitals is the best in its field owing to its remarkable panel of eminent doctors. They include some of the most highly experienced, skilled and distinguished medical practitioners in the country. Combined with a state-of-the-art infrastructure, world class equipments and dedicated staff, Ananthanpuri undoubtedly ushers a new world of health and healing in the capital city of Kerala.

"

But I would like to highlight another point about its surroundings. All the decayed wastes are surrounded in the surroundings of the hospital. Is this a way to usher the new world of health and healing Trivandrum or making a gateway to introduce new diseases to the capital of kerala

The hospital when started, it was with high ambition and class features but when years passed and demand increased, its only MONEY, MONEY & MONEY in return they harass the bystanders and don't care the patient.

There are numerous bad experience for me at this so called hospital.

  1. When my wife was pregnant, she used to become very tired and used to vomit very often. The remedy given by hospital is each time I visit they will admit at causality and fill one or two glucose trips. During this time a nurse will do a routine check of BB and other few tests and claims that everything is normal.

After 3 such visits, I took her to another doctor who consults at home. First thing the doctor did is check her weight, then checked her BB and did few other basics. Doctor found that she has low BB.

Then she advised to drink lot of water, while feeling tired try lemon with salt water, pickles!

After following this she never felt tired and gave birth to a girl baby. The kind of care she got from this doctor who is working from home is far far far better than HIFI Ananthapuri which has forgot the basics of medical service.

  1. When my uncle had a heart attack, they kept him on ventilator just to suck more money. When intervened with big chaps got some discount with uncle's body.

  2. The securities just harass bystanders as if we are Pakistanis terrorists and they are SWAT team commandos, good for nothings body guards of stupid hospital. Once my relative had a heart attack and they took him there at around 10 pm. While we where siting in a the waiting hall where there are lot chairs, one security told us go and sit at reception in a very harsh manner. I felt he is a GUNDA not a security.

  3. For one of my fathers friend they did a wrong operation and he can't walk now.

There are lot of such incidents which has made me loose faith on this hospital.

hope some one from this hospital read this get things right! Its nothing personal but just don't forget the basics of medical service. Money comes next! You had it when you started it but now its all about money & buildings...

Most cruel hospital have ever seen

I am really frustrated and shocked to have this experience in hospital. My close friend fainted and was brought to AHRI for diagnosis. The doc there found out that she had a tumor in the brain and had to be operated with in the same day. we were very worried, then luckily, another prominent doctor in trivandrum, who is a friend of mine, vehemently opposed she being operated here, by this said doc.. we took a decision to take her out of the hospital and moved to another one. There, she was given minor radiation, that too after a week and she is at work now. If she had been operated there, I am sure, she would have been in a vegetable state by now. These people are clearly not humans. They even cheat their own friends.

My another friend was convinced to  invest in this hospital and he put in his hard earned money there. now after so many years, there is no dividend or nothing. their profit every year is almost zero!! but at the same time, the acting MD keeps on buying houses worth crores all around the hospital as his personal property!!

Hospitals save life, but Ananthapuri takes life!
Jan 28, 2012 10:21 PM 10064 Views

My father went through bypass surgery in Bangalore in June 2011. After surgery the recovery was not as expected and his heart continued to be weak and did not support the kidneys properly. He received excellent treatment and support from St John’s hospital, Bangalore and his condition improved to a great extent and he could perform his routine activities.

Doctors at St Johns hospital explored the possibility for dialysis and stated that peritoneal dialysis is the only option for him and they categorically stated that hemodialysis should not be performed on him because of his clinical conditions and it could prove to be fatal in his case and it has to be peritoneal dialysis only. Two months later, doctors said dialysis was not a requirement for him as the required fluid extraction happened through medicines.

My father wanted to come back to Trivandrum, our native place. His vitals were fine. Doctors at St Johns hospital had certified him to be fit to travel and they were happy about the improvement in his health condition. Many reviews said Ananthapuri hospital is not a good choice, and I myself experienced an incident where one of the doctors in Ananthapuri prescribed medicine for stroke for a colleague of mine whose BP was slightly high.

Luckily the medical store keeper who was known to my colleague asked him why he needed medicine for stroke and thus the issue came to light. We decided to take my dad there as one of my friends had told us Dr Bahuleyan is one of the best Cardiologists in town. Today we regret the decision.

My father who went for a routine checkup on 2 Jan 2012 was admitted in the hospital due to low BP. He was put on ventilator due to slight breathlessness and was later moved to the ward after 4 days. Since his initial treatment was done in Bangalore, for any of my mom’s questions, she mostly had to face sarcasm. On Jan 11, doctor said he is fine and could be discharged on Jan 14th. When my father complained about lack of sleep, Dr. Bahuleyan instructed the nurse to give sleeping pills. Even though my mom requested nurse not to give sleeping pills, she said she is helpless as she has to follow doctor’s instructions. After taking sleeping pills, my father never came back from the drowsy state. When questioned, doctor said “patient asked me for it”.What a statement from such a reputable doctor…would he give poison if patients ask for it?

On Jan 14th morning, doctor Bahuleyan along with Jr doctors were discussing about the need for dialysis and advised that Dr Kashinath see him once. Afternoon Dr Kashinath along with his assistant lady doctor visited my father. That night around 8 pm, nurse had informed my mother that there is little fluid accumulation in his lungs and they are planning for hemodialysis. My mother begged and pleaded not to do hemodialysis. She informed the nurse as well as the duty doctor, but nobody was willing to listen.

Even though there were no visible complications, he was taken to the dialysis unit… were they experimenting? We are unsure of the reasons to do immediate dialysis.they could have allowed him to have a peaceful death!

Dialysis was planned for 5-6 hrs but they had to stop the dialysis in 3 hrs as his condition worsened and he was rushed to CCU. My mom asked about his condition.hospital staff said he is fine and will be moved to the room in the morning. My mom begged and pleaded to see my father, not once but multiple times…but they didn't allow. Where is the humanity in these doctors and hospital staff?

When he was fighting for his life, the staff asked my mom to give his tooth brush and dietitian report around 5 am. Did they want to prove dialysis did not impact his life? Merciless hospital staff killed my father and did not let my mother see him one last time. They convinced my mother that my father will come out of his current health condition with dialysis and forced her to sign the high risk consent letter. No one explained the content of the consent letter to my mother who cannot understand English.

Friends, please be careful when you choose Ananthapuri Hospital next time…what happened to us should not happen to anybody else…

Bad treatment Ifrom Ananthapuri hospitals
Mar 03, 2011 03:50 PM 15064 Views

Trivandrum is a my hometown  and I am a NRI.living abroad many years this year I under gone a treatment at Ananthapuri hospital  Trivandrum in India. I was there up to four month consulted by Dr Jayaram. mean time I noticed several bad behavior from  Dr Jayaram. Ananthapuri hospital is a centraliced Air Conditioned building and Dr Jayaram `s office in basement, but in basement they never switch on Air condition during during the period June 2010 to Septamber 2010.

They have air handling unit , suply air and  return air defuser in the basement that I saw , I complained many time to public relation manager, staff and Dr Jayaram . Becouse of this isseu Dr S Jayaram become angry to me . When I was in Abroad I had several issues with immigration department in that country. during the counseling with Dr Jayaram who asked me several questions what had happened in that country abroad , I honestly say this all questions are unwanted and he recorded my conversation I hope he may sold it to that immigration department.

I met  patients who came to see dr s Jayaram , they were(including me) charged 1200  RS for psychological support 600 RS, Relasation therapy 500 RS and 100 RS to take File . this counseling take only 15 mins to 20 minits only but he used to kept us to wait up to 6 to 7 hours. During this period they never switch on Air conditoning and in frend of his office there is two rooms where they steam hospital equipments with more than 100degree centigrade its heat air come to dr s jayaram`s office where we are sitting and waiting to see him.

Dr S.Jayaram is not a Psycologist but he charch up to 600 RS for Psycological support . I know Some good Psycologist in Trivandrum like Justin Padamadan who is very good Kind hearted man .He consulting patients in his home and patients  used  to give him 100 to 200 RS only but he is really happy with this money .

I met patients in Dr S Jayaram`s office they were very poor who got mental illines becouse of their  financial problams but this Dr S. Jayaram charche a big money from them 1200 rs for 15 m to 20 m in single time for every week.He say he would inchuct patients with out their awarenes but I noticed he would inchuct once in a month only but he charge every week same money.

Dr S. Jayaram is a India Medical Association  Chathannur (Kollam) President  and a member of  Indian Psychiatric Society-South Zone. I strongly believe Dr S.Jayaram did MBBS and DPM is only formaking  money and not for to serve human people. MBBS and DPM comes with God own gift

Very bad staff with a very bad attitude

Very bad experience with this hospital. My mom was killed by the doctors here. We regret for taking her there. She developed severe side effects after taking the medicine prescribed by the neurologist.

Even after this was brought to the doctor's attention many times, they suggested that she was under depression. The neurologist couldn't even diagnose that she had an infection which she got from the hospital.

We complained of her vomiting and severe fever to the staff many times and not even a single person paid attention. Finally we had to shift her from this hospital. But by then she was in a very bad condition.

Bad SERVICE
Dec 03, 2010 02:36 AM 12419 Views

I underwent a treatment after I came from Australia between June 2010 October 2010. Ananthapuri Hospital is a centralized air conditioned building. However, the air condition was never switched on during the period June 2010 to October 2010. I noticed that they have air handling unit, supply air as well as return air diffuser in the reception, basement and all the area where patients are sitting to meet doctors. I complained many times to the public relation manager and staff who became angry at me.

I also noticed that all the Doctors rooms are fully cool and the air condition always switched on.

There is no ventilation or fresh air in this waiting area because there are no windows. The security guard in the main door of the hospital always closed the door when we get in or out. In front of the reception, relatives of patients are waiting long time. A fan was placed there.

Fan does not give ventilation or fresh air. For ventilation, they should run air conditioner. When I complained to the staff, they told me to give a written complaint to Dr Marthanda pillai.

Ananthapuri Hospital always charge large amount of money from patients example RS 1200, for meeting a Psychiatrist for just 20 minutes. Ananthapuri Hospital should give priority for patients and not to doctors. Patients are paying that’s why they running business otherwise they will shut the business.

Ananthapuri Hospital should respect NRIs. Non Resident Indians’ contribution is high in the Indian economy. Some of our people left India, which is why unemployment rate came down in India and we went abroad not only to make money, but also to help others.

Whoever plans on going to Ananthapuri hospital be vary careful. They cheated me and took my money. I paid total RS 20000 to 25000.

CARELESS IN ONE WORD
Sep 22, 2009 09:44 PM 6114 Views

Ananthapuri hospitals is one of the hospitals which needs to be cleansed out totally. I had experienced it first hand and was unfortunate to be there. I had to take my father and I have to ask for discharge the very next day.

My father was admitted in one of the ICUs ( Medical) which doesn't have a monitor for any patient. Well can u call a car without tyres as usable or functional. This is an ICU and they don't have monitor. I don't know what other things they don't have as I was not allowed inside much , but I know one thing they don't have ---professionalism.

Sorry, there is more they don't have----communication. The doctor is not interested in discussing the plan of management and my father was whisked away for all sorts of scans and investigations without anyone's knowledge ( bills paid by company and they decided to do all sorts on investigation under earth)

LaterI found out that many investigations were absolutely not needed. Then u have the staff who thinks that we know everything how it functions and gives us a surprised look when it seems that I haven't done this or that. All the doctors seems to be in a hurry, and they are least interested to hear anything from us.

Hospital corridors are badly sign posted. it's good for our health that we can take a hospital tour looking for something. I just shouldn't write only bad comments. Here are some good things--- its located in an easily accesible place. can't think of anything else. To summarise, take your enemies there to be treated. All the very best.

Very Good Hospital ...

We were pleased with the facilities that Ananthapuri hospital had on offer. Overall hygiene is maintained very well throughout, places like the canteen is kept very clean with good service. The infrastructure(labs/bloodbanks/ rooms and other offices) was maintained well. The support staff in ICU and otherwise were very friendly and professional. We received the right guidance and feedback with respect to the treatment process / procedures(in this case a bypass surgery) and the team of doctors(Dr.Fazil, Dr. Anand and Dr.Gopakumar) that we interacted with were truly world class.
