Aiwa

AIWA translated in Arabic loosely means Wow, Well Done! I got this piece a year ago and I am simply amazed and proud to be the owner of an Aiwa Walkman. It is simply superb. Like all others this too runs on two 1.5 volts DC batteries. It doesn't take up much power and the batteries really last a long time. It will be better if you try out Energizer. Personal experience tells me they run the longest. Now for some of the qualities.

It has speakers first of all and along with hearing the songs yourself with the earphones you can let every one else enjoy it around you. Of course that will drain out extra power and defeat the very objective for owning a Walkman. The speakers can be shut off. Another interesting feature is the addition of recording. Yes, they provide you with an excellent quality microphone. It records the minutest of sounds. Very handy for reporters or those of you who like to make audio notes. The sound quality is simply amazing to be true.

AIWA pays a lot of attention to sound even in their TVs. You can feel the beats just like when you play songs on the deck. Of course you can shut them off. There is a switch for that. In the looks department it is excellent and looks sleek. Mine is a silver piece with a belt clip. The earphones look cool but pain after some time. I wish somebody would do something about that. The antennae are in the earphones and so they have to stay connected if you want to listen to the FM facilities. Overall if you are planning to buy a new one and budget is not a constraint, then go for it. It is a lot cheaper abroad than it is here.

One thing though have you seen the Aiwa ads on TV. They have my vote for the worst ad campaign in the history of mankind. Yuck! Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa Aiwa That's the transcript of the ad for you.

Aiwa - Cute & Good

I was looking for a good personal stereo system with radio to give me company on my frequent 'long business tours' as well for pleasure. I was earlier having Videocon Walky - small and handy … but which started giving problems … and was just awaiting a decent burial!

Sony, Aiwa and Philips were my prospective buys. But Aiwa caught my attention with the attractive offer of a pack of 20 audiocassettes all for a price of Rs. 1495/- and that lured me.

But friends, I have no regrets on having decided on Aiwa. The product is good with sleek styling and clear sound reproduction. (Let me admit that I have still not listened to all the free cassettes dished out in that offer!) Most of all, I like the radio especially the FM reception.

Negative points!? Well the main one I can think of is the small 'pluggable' ear phones which keep popping out of my ears every time I increase the volume! Maybe that is a safety feature Aiwa would have thoughtfully provided for protecting the user's ears … Credible?

The other problem, which I accidentally discovered, is draining of the cells if the machine is not used for quite some time. So the users need to remove the cells from the battery compartment whenever the stereo is expected to be idling for a long time.

Aiwa has other models with varying features … Go for your right choice … if you are thinking about purchasing a new ''walky''.
