5 reasons why Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 fails to impress
Xiaomi has launched Redmi Note 4, its first smartphone for the year 2017 in India. The smartphone comes in three variants ( based on RAM and internal storage) with the starting price of Rs 9, 999. The Redmi Note 4 succeeds the company's Redmi Note 3 smartphone launched in March 2016. Though Xiaomi claims that the all-new Redmi Note is the 'best smartphone' available in its price segment, here are 5 reasons due to which it fails to impress.

Old Android OS based MIUI
The newly-launched Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 is still stuck with the MIUI 8 interface, which is based on over-an-year-old Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS. While Xiaomi is still rolling out Android Marshmallow updates on its newest smartphones, several of its rivals have already started rolling out Android 7.0 Nougat OS based-UIs on their handsets. Incidentally, Xiaomi has promised that the Redmi Note 4 will receive Nougat update, but the company didn't share any time frame.

Lacks that 'special feature'
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 looks quite similar to many other Chinese smartphones available in the market. As such there is no 'key take away' or 'special feature' that the smartphone boasts of. The device seems to be just 'refined version' of its predecessor Redmi Note 3. In fact, Note 3 users may find little new with the Redmi Note 4 smartphone, besides minor design changes.

'Inferior' rear camera vis-a-vis Redmi Note 3
Though Xiaomi claims Redmi Note 4 has an impressive camera, on paper the device has lesser camera megapixels than its predecessor. The Redmi Note 3 has a 16MP rear camera, while Redmi Note 4 has a 13MP shooter. Yes higher megapixels don't guarantee better pictures, but decreasing MP count in a successor versus its predecessor may appear unfair.

Almost the same battery capacity
On the battery front too, there's a little upgrade. Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 comes with 4100mAh battery capacity, which is just 50mAh higher than that of Redmi Note 3.

Slight upgrade in processor
On processor side too, Redmi Note 4 does not offer a major upgrade. The smartphone runs on the 14nm technology-based Qualcomm Snapdragon 625. The mid-range processor is a mraginal upgrade over the Redmi Note 3's Snapdragon 650 processor. The Chinese tech firm could have used the Snapdragon 653 or the 626 processors launched in October last year.
